Nedavnom pobjedom s teniskom reprezentacijom, on je postao apsolutni junak.

A kako to Mario igra?

Iako još mora položiti dosta ispita, s diplomom u ruci vjerojatno će nakon aktivne teniske karijere razmišljati i o bavljenju pravom.

Mario ti je super? Nađi još caka o njemu o Teenu

Since you asked croatian girl to translate, i'll translate just first 2 paragraphs :)

He is tall, handsome, has irresistible smile, is a virtuoso with a racket, and outside of the court he is a boy that many of teen readers are sighting for. You are, of course, in that club... Learn all about this nice guy from Split.

Not so long ago, tnahks to the victory with tennis team he became apsolute hero. Young, handsome, polite and so successful. Everyone is crazy about him, from 7 to 77 and there is nothing strange about it. Super Mario is 197 cm tall, and his favourite book is "Ništa nas ne smije iznenaditi" by Ante Tomić. He does not believe in horoscopes and dreams and loves chocolate. If you want to know more about this model from tennis fields, here is your chance...

Here I'll translate one more paragraph while watching Mario play his final in Auckland. :)

How it all started.
Mario Ančić, 22 years old sportsman from Split started playing tennis because his few years older brother Ivan who was very talented player. While popular Ive was practising, Mario was pationaltly siting in the audiance thinking how he will play tennis when he gets older. If his brother was playing handball at the time, Mario would be thinking about that. As it happened, as soon as he grew up he got recquet for a present, started playing with his brother and showed big talent. His sport friends claim that after his first tennis lesson, his tennis teacher said "This kid will make this country famous" And he was right!

Climb: as 15 year old, Mario played doubles at the Olimpiade with Goran Ivanišević and even then showed that he is ready for bigger success. He showed his maturity in Bratislava when he won the match and with that victory got golden medal for our tennis team. It was a match to remember!

Well that is it more or less. :) Now I'll go to watch the match on Croatian TV.

Ok, I've finished this up in short. The article is very much similar to the one from Slobodna Dalmacija, that's why there's no need to translate every word:

He's #17 in the world now, but still remembers his way up and his rolemodels; his brother and Goran I. Goran often adviced him, so it's no surprise that world media often compare his temperamental game to Goran's, which involves agressive style, throwing racquets and cursing sometimes.

Love for his sister
Same as he started to play 'cause of his brother, sister Sanja started to play too and she's winning her first points. Mario is often away from home, but hopes that Sanja will improve, go up the rankings, and that soon two of them will play doubles in major tournaments. Fingers crossed!

College boy with a racquet
Mario has learnt early how important the school is. His mother told him that no matter if he plays tennis, he has to study and do his homework. Mario was an excellent student, now he's studying law in Split.

who is Ante Tomic?

it's a nice article, if a little prosaic. i like that he's studying law while playing tennis.

i'm studying Russian atm. i like seeing some similarities between Croatian and Russian. all the Croatians will probably hate me for saying that now...but it's true. i'm a freak for languages, i love things like that. Croatian looks fascinating, i would love to learn it.

Ante Tomić is this really cool (in my opinion) young Croatian writer, he writes great novels, with a lot of sarcasm and critic to society, just the thing I like

Why would we hate you for saying that? I think there are some similarities, although not as many as with some other Slavic languages. I like langs too, I study English and Croatian, but wouldn't say that I like them that much that I'm a freak for them

yeah he does sound quite good. has he been translated at all yet?

some people get really annoyed if their language is compared to another. like the Portuguese to Spanish are like rrRRAAARRrr it's not Spanish! to be fair it is very different. i would love to study lots too. i do French, German, English Lit (not really a language) and Russian. i did Latin until last year, i wish i hadn't had to give it up.

I really am not sure if he's translated yet. And I dont mind comparing Croatian, things are the way they are :p
Personally, I think that Spanish and Portugese have a lot in common, that's how I can understand plenty of stuff of Portugese since I understand Spanish very well. I've studied Latin, but I hated it  and German, and now I wanna learn Italian :)

Btw Kell you didn't even have to say you're lang. geek, since pyromatic said it, I knew right aways it applies to you too. :p :haha:
