Hehe, 4 Brazilians here. Mello, Marcos, Flavio and Guga can be the team of DC that will take Peru one week before BA. Go Brasil!
Good luck to Volandri and Tomas.
Tournament will be good, with Coria, David, JCF and Moya (Where will be Gaston?).

Just did some research around the grounds at the AO and so far it seems that Gaston won't be there at all and I got this from a reliable source.

Volandri withdraw from VIña, so he will probably do it here to.

If someone do it well in Viña, he would take a SE here, so Vicente and Mello aren't IN yet.

There won't be special exempts in this tournament, because only Davis Cup ties will be played the week before.

And Nicolas Lapentti has already withdrawn from here, it seems.

I'd prefer the wild card to be given to a promising player to meet this level like Leonardo Mayer (one of top juniors last year) than to a star who had some fuss about the low money for him.
But of course all depends on organizators.

shotgun
01-31-2006, 02:39 PM
I think it's more likely that Sergio Roitman receives the remaining WC, since he's the best ranked Argentinian who didn't get in directly.

Leonardo Mayer is too unexperienced for ATP tournaments. He has played only one challenger so far (lost in the 1st round) and a few futures.

BTW, where's Edgardo Massa? Still injured? If not, he could well be a contender for this WC.

Nathaliia
01-31-2006, 02:40 PM
Yeah... I read some text about Massa but in Spanish and I didn't understand. I only understood he would be using the Protect Ranking while coming back in spring.... but spring on which continent

ToJo plays Marseille and Soderling plays San Jose. But even if they weren't playing these tournaments, they wouldn't play Buenos Aires.

If he was able to train like this, then why did he pull out of Davis Cup?
From bits and pieces I’ve picked up in various articles, the specialists said that he had to rest that shoulder completely for one week, and that it would be best not to compete for two weeks. I guess he has to start to practice, though…
He MIGHT have considered playing in the DC, but what finally decided Mancini, Davin and Gastón against risking it is the fact that they play to the best of five sets and there was a real danger that he wouldn’t last out and have to retire.
