Adelaide: Tomas Berdych vs Andy Murray - Which will prevail?

This is an interesting match, which of the 2 youngsters will show maturity in this upcoming match ? Berdych's game is far more physical and his shot making is superior, but Murray plays smart & high percentage tennis for the most part. Murray also seems to be the more mature of the 2, Berdych has shown potential at times, but also has proven to be a bit of a headcase.

We shall see, I look forward to this match. This will be the first treat of 2006.

Murray's gonna win....Berdych admitted he was surprised to beat Calleri because he's spent most of the off-season practising indoors. Murray has been working his ass off, and even though he's a bit rusty as he showed in his 1st match, I expect him to win. He also leads the head to head.

Yeah, he actually got up some muscles which seems to be good.
Murray was the last to beat Berdych, make it twice in a row!:yeah:
I can't really see anyone win. We'll see in some hours!

that's what he said at the draw ceremony:

Murray: I've been practising in South Africa where it was 25 degrees and now I've come here and yesterday was like the hottest day in 10 years for me, Murray joked about the blistering 42C heat.

I think Berdych isn't really fit either. ;)Maybe not but at least I've never seen him cramp after a few best-of-3 matches on grass in England;)

I don't know who will win, nor do I really care much, but it would be a fun one to watch :(

Berdych has more technical ability but I think Murray will pull through in three.

This match is far more important to Berdych. I doubt that he'd take too lightly losing to a fellow youngster consecutively.

Such a thing could really cause problems for an already frail psyche; hopefully, he'll have success and be able to pull it out.

If not, Murray has proven to be the more physically prepared and mentally stable of the two, which would make him worthy of being labeled a contender at this tournament.

That should be an interesting match. Berdych is, by far, the better player. However, I think Murray is mentally stronger.

living in adelaide i can vouch that that the 42 degree days come along a couple of times each summer (when the wind blows from the desert north), for the most part this year the summer weather has been ave 25-30 and temps dipping to high teens when the sun goes down, so i dont expect temp to be a factor in the murray/berdych encounter.

i was at lleytons match last night and by the time the 2nd set came along it was time to put a jumper on.

yes, i missed murray's match yesterday! :o as i am only going to the night sessions. :)

FYI; http://www.weatherzone.com.au/local/local.jsp?fcast=94675&obs=94675&img=radar&rad=046&fn=true

BTW, on the day murray arrived it truly was extreme, at ten oclock at night it was still 40 degrees, must have scared the crap out of him!

Depends on whether Berdych is hitting the target on the day, if he is, he could trouble Andy a lot, although Andy has the resilience to take him down. It's a close one!

To say Berdych is better technically is intriguing, as his game is based on power shots, not skill and flair.

it takes skill to hit power shots consistently off both sides.

He has shown that when he is "on", he can do this

andy isnt any more talented than birdman

If i used the tennistic reasoning i should say Murray to win , but my intuition tells me Berdych is gonna win in straight sets .

Both are on court smack in the middle of the hottest part of the day

murray better start praying for an overcast day otherwise he is going to get roasted both literally and on the scoreboard

I think Murray will win, afterall Murray bt Berdych in Basle last year when Berdych was playing sensational tennis (won Paris Masters a week later!)!

of course it's not an excuse but the day before he met Murray, Berdych finished his match around midnight... (he beat G. Bastl, watched the match on TSR2) and commentators said it was unfair to Berdych... because the Murray was  and well rested... so you can't compare Basel 2005 and Adelaide 2006
