Roger lost to Marat last year? Who can beat mediocre Roger this year?

I say Lleyton Hewitt. Lleyton at his best can beat most of the tour guys hands down including Rafe. Roddick is a joke and please dont mention him..:).

Who is Rafe?

I have to wonder about Tommy Haas, if he completely got his head and his game back together. Perhaps his new coach can get him there (wishful thinking, I know).

Haas has done it before at the AO... although, having recently seen the match for the first time, I don't think it's sour grapes if I say that Federer managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Anyway, mediocre Roger and Lionheart Lleyton both faced Czech opposition in their opening matches of the year, and the mediocre one was more efficient.

I don't know if this is significant (in fact, I'm fairly sure it isn't, but never mind), but yesterday I saw a clip on the sports news of Haas' win over Wawrinka, and he has basically adopted Stan's close-cropped haircut. The flowing ponytail is gone - was that the source of his power, Samson-like, or simply an encumbrance weighing down Tommy Boy? Only time will tell.

Oh yea, Roddick is such a joke. You don't think at his best he can beat a mediocre Fed?

Actually that happened and Roddick won ;)

I was going to say the "mediocre" thing might've been lost in translation....but the thread starter is Canadian :tape:

A word like mediocre wouldn't be lost in translation, regardless of the thread starter's background. I only hope for more of the mediocrity we witnessed last year.

Mediocre is sort of a not very nice word for average.

It's not so much rude as mystifying. I mean, it takes a unique psychic talent to accurately judge a player's pre-season form without having seen a single second of them playing, but MTF is apparently filled with such visionaries. We are blessed indeed.

I don't know. At first my tired eyes read it as Rafter and I started thinking about his comeback. :D

Nalbandian,Berdych and maybe gasquet

These players can beat Fed:
Safin, Nadal, Gasquet, Hrbaty, Berdych, Nalbandian, Henman, Hewitt, Roddick, Kuerten.
All of them have beaten him. Fact.
Whether they will beat him again and on the big occasion we will have to wait and see. I think Safin, Nadal and nalbandian have the best chances because their wins have come at the later stages of big tournaments within the last year and they have the most confidence against him, whereas against Roddick and Hewitt, it seems to me that when Fed plays them he starts so well and never lets them in and though they try, their games just never threaten him.
The others can beat Roger if he is having a mediocre day or if they play out of their minds.
But Fed is beatable, he is the best but not invincible and I look forward to seeing his challengers bring it on!
