tojo plays djokovic tomorrow and i'm so annoyed that it's not shown on tv :( all his matches are in the evenings, and ABC only shows day matches. let's hope he makes the finals :yeah: USA would probably be the most challenging tie, cos the russians have come up with some obscure male player and i'm sure tojo can win against novak :)

todd just did an interview on tv today (cos it's rain delay and they have no match to show) and he said thomas is fully fit to play the AO, he's been practicing and hitting very well so far :D go Thomas! and todd also mentioned that he enjoys coaching someone who's seeded 10/former AO champion, cos he doesn't need to change anything much, just have to make Thomas a bit more aggressive and letting him know that he's playing well (the mental thing).

Johansson survives epic second round match with Malisse
By Greg Stutchbury

MELBOURNE (Reuters) - Former champion Thomas Johansson beat Belgium's Xavier Malisse in an epic five-set second round match at the Australian Open on Wednesday.

Swede Johansson, the 2002 champion at Melbourne Park, needed three hours 40 minutes in the baseline battle to subdue his opponent before winning 6-3 3-6 7-5 4-6 6-3 to set up a third round clash with France's Gilles Simon.

Passionate sets of opposing fans provided plenty of color and noise in the Margaret Court Arena with Johansson vociferously backed by a huge Swedish contingent wearing traditional blue and yellow T-shirts, wigs and Viking helmets.

Malisse also had lots of support with fans having painted the black, yellow and red national colors on their bodies.

Johansson, the 10th seed, won the first set before Malisse, the 2002 Wimbledon semi-finalist, rallied to take the next.

Malisse blew a chance to clinch the third when he was broken at 5-4 and Johansson reeled off the final two games.

The 39th-ranked Belgian broke early in the fourth set when the 30-year-old Swede double faulted and, while neither player served particularly well, Malisse sent it to a decider with another break.

Johansson, who missed the 2003 season with a left knee injury, broke Malisse in the sixth game of the final set to take a 4-2 lead and then held before the Belgian saved two match points on his own serve.

Johansson held two more match points while serving at 40-15 only for a scampering Malisse to draw level at deuce and then take a break point when a desperate forehand from the Swede sailed over the baseline.

Johansson saved the break after a long rally with a backhand volley into an open court before he gained his third match point of the game and sealed it with a backhand winner down the line.

From http://wwww.expressen.se in a horrible english translation.

DREADFUL GOOD, Thomas
Which rysare, Thomas!

Now, the previous Australian master is clear for the third round - then thanks he the fan.
- the supporters in Australian Open is with from first to last ball and the helps myself huge a lot of, says Thomas's Johansson.

“Thomas, Thomas, Thomas…” The blue and yellow shoe heel's votes echoed in late Melbournekvällen, then Thomas's Johansson and Xavier Malisse, Belgium, invited on a tennisrysare in Australian Opens other round.
Thomas's Johansson krigade itself to the victory with 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 after playing in three hours and 40 minutes. The drama reached its kulmen when Xavier Malisse salvaged four game balls.
- I became for passive there. The is life dangerous against a guy that Malisse. Of course better man plays against Malisse, of course better becomes also Malisse, and he is always tough to meet, said Thomas's Johansson.
- after first set dropped I in my service, but I had time to never to become nervous before fifth set. I knew myself physical strong when I makeacommitmentto in order to decide the game.

Standing ovations
Thomas's Johansson got standing ovations of your many fan on the platforms in Margaret Court arena. The each he merited of.
- the felt that I had more aids here than during a Davis Cup-match on home ground. The supporters in Australian Open is with from first to last ball and the helps myself huge a lot of, explained Thomas.
The Linköping star got a perfect start through the service breakthrough to management with 2-0. Lugnt and imbued servade Thomas blank home first set, 6-3, concurrent as Xavier Malisse several aisles made face over a stukad feet. The masseur was called in on banana in order to tape the Belgian's feet between first and other set. Near was the roles ombytta.
Thomas's Johansson dropped in your first service, Malisse broke to management with 3-1, and continued to hit vinnarslag on the road against setseger, 6-3. When Malisse willed serva home third set broke Thomas, played since dream tennis, when he went until 7-5.

Mali see increased the playing level
After yet another long medical timeout came Malisse again, increased the playing level clear, and servade home fourth set with 6-4. In skiljeset showed itself Thomas's Johansson's good machine-gun to management with 4-2 to become crucial. The created big pressure on Malisse.
All spoke before the game for Thomas's Johansson. The Swede's ranking 13 each better than Malisses 39, he each master in Australian Open 2002, he had nine titles against Malisses only in the career, and he had above all 16 victory games against Malisses four on hardcourten in Melbourne.
Now, Thomas's Johansson has a good lottning in the third round. The Swede must be held as favourite against the French strait player Gilles Simon, rankad 123 in the world. The has met once and then won 21-årige Simon in Marseille.
- I do not take out some in advance. Simon hit an off taking watch even hotest players Tomas Berdych in other round, he is talangfull, and is specially proficient on that versus. Therefore, my tactic becomes that mixa up the playing, explained Thomas.

Another article from Expressen:

“he shines of self-confidence”
Thomas's Johansson enjoys in Australian Open and the master from 2002 had no problems to do the fjärd past.
In three straight road-strip set drove he over the the French strait player Simon Gilles.
- he shines of self-confidence, hyllar Simon after the tennis lesson.

The procedure hit the youthful enthusiasm in Australian Opens third round. Thomas's Johansson, 30-åringen that now is the initial field's second oldest player, driven over France's Gilles Simon, as done your only other initial in a bit Slam-tävling.
Thomas victory weapon there the service on the road against 6-3, 6-2, 6-1.
- the can let as a frayed klyscha, but now takes I a game in taken. Before if the years have done the mistakes to speak about good lottningar and to have for big expectations, said Thomas's Johansson.
- my old arbor damage knows I no of, the body feels fresh, and I cannot be other than pleased so here longly, continued Thomas.

Impressed Simon
Gilles Simon got itself a lesson and each impressed off the Swede.
- Thomas will not win Australian Open, but he can go to a semifinal. Thomas shines of self-confidence, said Simon.
In your eleventh start in Australian Open has the Thomas's Johansson reached fourth round for third past. 2002 won Thomas sensationellt the title here after final victory against Marat Safin and last year reached he the fourth round against Dominik Hrbaty. Now waits Ivan Ljubicic, Croatia, there.
- an of my best friends on the taking watches and an of the hottest players the last half-year, told Thomas's Johansson.

Changeable weathers
The game on Friday became a long drawing gene and odd history. This because of changeable weather relations. First was advanced the game because of extreme heat on banana in order to since be shot up for sky cases. After yet another rain interruption was moved the game from chute two to the electricity light in Vodafone arena, the second biggest banana in Melbourne park.
- that decision could I only ewe for. I like to play on the two big chutes with ceilings, since I may gooder paid for my service where, meant Thomas.

Nine service aces
Strulet did not disturb Linköpingsstjärnans uppladdning. He saw cruelly close out through the three seten.
- to heat sex seven aisles is not the optimum, but I have been with so long that I the coped with situation well.
Already in first set shown Thomas's Johansson up a vase service afterwards he replied for a good machine-gun in the first game. Lugnt and with safe playing worked itself Thomas, nine service aces and only a double error, forward against the victory.
- the service each good, but I think that I won on the whole. Simon do not see a lot of out, but he plays tennis as no other with his kontringar. Simon lives on your fantastic hit on the ball, said Thomas.
The 21-årige the Frenchman, 65 kilos heavy, showed itself far too for delicate in double sense. The warning, since Gilles Simon amazing stem fitted the assuring Czech Tomas Berdych from turneringen and won the previous meeting with Thomas in Marseille, each entirely unjustified. On Friday each Thomas's Johansson better in all.

he played really badly and was out under a lot of pressure because it was impossible to break ivan's serve... he's getting fined for violation (racquet abuse) cos he bashed his racquet onto the net post. he was just in a bad mood for the whole match, even when ivan conceded a point that was an ace but was called a let by the umpire. ivan said neither players heard the net cord sound. anyway, at least it means he'll be able to rest until his next tourney and spend some time with gisella... todd was commentating also from the players' box, but he only said very few things about how tojo needed to up his 1st serve % etc... rest well tojo!

The Croat Ivan Ljubicic became Ivan the horrible for Thomas's Johansson in Australian Open. Ljubicic stem fitted the Swede with 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 in the fourth round.
- I played my poorest game on six months. The was frustrating that I not could to invite to and the each a man on banana, said Thomas's Johansson.

- sometimes has man poor days on the job and I can not to explain why. I know that Ljubicic hangouts your service 95 percents and then knows man additional pressure in the the own service games. In those situations is not Ljubicic late to take opportunities.

The Linköping son got no order on the service and Ivan Ljubicic broke twice on your road against 6-2. Thomas had 33 percents in of the first service and the was a far too for klent key in order to jar Ljubicic in the important introduction.
The continuation of the game became more even, but Ivan Ljubicic conquered a service breakthrough in each set. The Croat servade stable and had a fantastic business standard on banana.

Very more dead
Alltell divided the 97-75 in points.
- although I did not come up in my standard where I impressed of Ljubicic. The is visible which self-confidence he has presently, said Thomas.
When the Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis earlier in the day acted very more deader through hitting out andraseedade Andy Roddick, USA, began the to compare 2002. The each then as the stars fell as käglor on Thomas's Johansson's half of lottningsschemat here in Melbourne. Concurrent as Thomas crept forward against your 30-åriga lives' only bit Slam-triumf.
This time each the not equally simple.
Can win the whole turneringen " plays Ljubicic equally good in the future can he win the whole turneringen. The has I not some towards then Ljubicic is a good guy.
We accustom a lot of together and our wives have paid a lot of common time here in Melbourne. I desire him all success, said Thomas.
Ivan Ljubicic has begun the year equally shining as he stopped 2005.

Wants to have more
The previous year reached he eight finals, won two of four his total titles, and in November where he rankad eight in the world, the career's goodest.
