This poll is to add more seriousness to GM right now. :p

He could if enough players are injured.

I think he`ll probably win it. :) I don´t think he necessarily needs injured players in the draw. 2005 was not his best year, but I think he can improve. The serve has been terrible and IMO, it´s a confidence problem plus the surgery.... I hope, for Guillermo´s sake, he wins RG one day.

:secret: Sadly this could become the best (or worst...) Coria-bashing thread these days

I don't think he will, as a certain 19 year old is in his way, and Kuerten is possibly on his way back, and there are others who can beat him.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if Coria did win RG some day though ...

I hope you`re right about Guga..., but I´m not so sure about it  In the present conditions, Coria has got more chances than Guga... But as I said, I hope Guga surprises me :)

He will win the French Open , and Kuerten won't never be the same than before getting injured

In the next 6 years , i see at least 3 different winners in Roland Garros : Nadal , Federer and Gasquet

Maybe ... But his best chance was in 2004

Don't forget about Ferrero. Also, Federer is determined to go all out to win RG.

Kuerten winning RG again would be marvellous. I'm not sure Coria has the bottle to win this title, although the Nadal match in Rome could well have gone his way.

2004 was such an incredible match that I fear it will haunt him for the rest of his career. He might reach the final again but the nerves he displayed both in the Gaudio final and the Henman semi-final suggest that it is going to be one mighty struggle to win a Grand Slam.

In all likelihood any final opponent at Roland Garros will be a GS winner already, if not a RG winner, making it all the more difficult. However, if he got throught to the final to meet Davydenko or Ferrer, perhaps even Nalbandian, then he might have a decent chance.

On balance, I think his chances are slim.

If he can play again like he was playing in late 2003 and early 2004, then he's definately got a shot.

He probably wont win it in my opinion. Federer and Nadal are both definately better than him if they play well. If both of those are injured maybe but he is too mentally wounded by his loss to Gaston.

i think the players that have the best chance at this point to win RG in the next 3 years are:
Nadal
Federer
Nalbandian
Coria
Ferrero
Gasquet
Monfils
Gaudio
Davydenko
Hewitt (depending on how his draw goes)

As time goes on, I think it becomes more and more unlikely. Nothing is impossible, but with Nadal, Federer, Gasquet etc standing in his way I think it will be very hard for him.

I think he missed his chance. If he ever reaches the final again, either Nadal or Federer would beat him. He gets too nervous on the big stage.

For sure.

Coria has been the most consistent player on clay over such a long stretch.

Coria has already has his chance and he blew it. So in response to the initial question…. no.

For me, he's still the best clay-court specialist!

I agree, i think his chance has passed now since the fiasco of the french open 2004. :)

yes, I think he can win, and I hope ! he had already played so great matches on clay and he's an incredible player... (notably in Roma against Nadal...)ok this year, he wasn't in good shape, but in 2003 he reached the final and before he lost only one set during all the tournament... He deserves to win.
