Greg Rusedski, hang your head in shame!

Is it just me or is this pretty pathetic.......

Greg Rusedski was on a British sports quiz. He was asked "Which player won a Grand Slam in 2005 on his debut in the event". He says, "Safin won the Aussie Open, so it can't be him as he's played there before. And Federer won Wimbledon and the US Open and has played there before so it can't be him. So it must be the person who won the French Open. Eeeer, who won the French Open. Was it Gaston Gaudio? Oh no, he was last year. Hmmm, who could it be. I really don't know, I'm usually out after the first day or two."

In the end, a rugby player (Tana Umaga) guessed that the answer was Nadal, Greg actually didn't know.

Disgraceful Greg! :o

How could he not know who won the FO, an important affair in his business? Only an idiot wouldn't know OR he meant his answer to be an insult toward Nadal.

Yup i was watching it at the time, thought he was joking at first when he said he couldnt remember, was kind of shocked when i realised he was being serious. Maybe he has been trying to get away from tennis when he can, but most moderate tennis fans at least know who won the big grand slam events. It was actually quite embarassing for him, you go on the show and answer most questions about your own sport, so he was kind of useless.

I've only seen one episode of the current series and Becker was alright. I preferred the original series with Hancock as the presenter and Gower and Lineker as the captains. The show was more enjoyable to watch back then. :)

Well- that is really sad if a tennis player does not know who won a GS tournie in the same year that they are competing on the quiz show.

Boy- and I thought some of the contestants that we had on Celebrity Jeopardy here in the US were bad.

Tennis players don't spend hours discussing tournaments they don't actively participate in or other players. A clay court GS is no big deal for him, so he forgot for that moment. People's acting like hes a criminal or something.

I would assume someone who's life revolves around tennis doesn't care that much about tennis when he's not playing...

No remembering a recent Slam win is amusing though... But people need to remember even ATP players are not as much into tennis as people here.

That is quite funny though. Being on TV can make you forget even the most obvious of things...I remember Greg doing a 30-second stint in an Eastenders Christmas special a couple of years ago and he even did that pretty badly. He just doesn't look confident on camera away from the Tour.

I'd say there is a good chance he had genuinely forgotten. Besides, does he know who Nadal is?....afterall he hardly goes to the same events as him and he is always losing after the first couple of days... :tape:
