Taylor is scheduled to play in the Sydney International Jan.
9-15, 2006. And then is scheduled for the A.O. Jan. 16-29, 2006. If Taylor plays well in Sydney he won't get much rest between Tournaments.

taylor actually seems to play better when he plays a lot and gets himself (well, his serve...) into a groove. So hopefully he'll do well :) He was a finalist in Adelaide last year, though. Not smart, considering he will lose those points and that will adversely affect his rank right before the AO seeding. He'll probably lose his seed, considering he's right on the edge. Ouch.

I wonder then why he went to Sydney and not back to the other Tournament  That's not a great way to start the year by losing points immediately

Losing points in and of itself is ok, if it means scheduling yourself better. However, he's in a precarious position of maybe losing his seed if he drops too much, and he's defending a final and doesn't have a whole lot to replace it in, so it's a real possibility that he could lose his AO seed, and that is a very bad thing.

You know I like Taylor and he seems to be a nice guy, but it just sometimes seems like he can't get anything together. His conditioning (which at least he is supposed to be working on that), his tennis game which stays the same, and now his scheduling. I think he needs help, but apparently he is not one to listen to people not even his own father

Well, Taylor will get a little lucky - he'll stay top 30 even after dropping his Adelaide points, and he'll definitely be seeded since some top 30 players above him aren't playing the AO

Yes Andre is out of the AO already and I'm expecting Safin and Nadal to be out also. And who knows who else might be out? The 2005 season was filled with injuries and some players still might not be feeling that well
