El Legenda 12-02-2005, 02:38 PM Didn't John McEnroe win 12-0 in Davis Cup in the 80s? The key word there is LIVE rubbers, some of McEnroe's were not Live rubbers. I could totally see Spain and the US in the finals on American soil next year if he does get Brad back. DrJules 12-02-2005, 04:47 PM He should be on the phone to BG right now. I could totally see Spain and the US in the finals on American soil next year if he does get Brad back. This match puts in perspective how sensible Roddick's tactics were when he beat Hrbaty 6-1 and 6-2 in Paris. That was without BG. jole 12-02-2005, 05:35 PM This match puts in perspective how sensible Roddick's tactics were when he beat Hrbaty 6-1 and 6-2 in Paris. That was without BG. Dominik also played like utter crap that day. Andy is the maestro of tactics, however. Fergie 12-02-2005, 06:11 PM Good job Ivan! :yeah: shotgun 12-02-2005, 06:15 PM Guys, please, can you manage to post in a single thread without mentioning Roddick? Corswandt 12-02-2005, 06:28 PM This was the only Davis Cup match local TV was broadcasting live, and I managed to miss it (and get stuck in a massive traffic jam after wasting half of the afternoon, but that's another matter). :banghead: Bubba08 12-02-2005, 06:33 PM Ivan.  nobama 12-03-2005, 12:52 PM Ljubicic in Mac attack (http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,3-2005560067,00.html) IVAN LJUBICIC roared into the record books after giving Croatia the perfect start in the Davis Cup final against Slovakia. He beat Karol Kucera 6-3 6-4 6-3 to become the first player to win 10 consecutive live rubbers in a Davis Cup year since World Group play began in 1981. This gave Croatia a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five tie in Bratislava. Ljubicic, 26, watched by team-mate Goran Ivanisevic, overpowered the Slovakian stand-in. Two more victories this weekend and he will match John McEnroe’s feat of winning 12 rubbers out of 12 in the United States’ triumphant campaign of 1982. Three of McEnroe’s wins were in dead rubbers. Kucera was called up just before the start of the final after Slovakia’s No 2 Karol Beck was ruled out with a knee injury. Ljubicic said the late change of opponent had not made any difference to his approach. The world No 9 said: “If you get Federer instead of Nadal, now that’s a change. “But the difference between Kucera and Beck wasn’t that big, so I didn’t prepare any differently.” | |
