As I think Federer´s 6-0 6-0 against Gaudio in Shangai was a combination of Fed´s talent and Gastón playing in which is probably his worst surface :) and many, many other things... (But please, lets leave this here... It´s totally pointless any discussion between you and me about this match. I just don´t think Gaudio lacks talent and/or will, or whatever you want to call it, as you think. After all, he`s a top 10. Not everyone is up there for 2 years... ;) ).

Of course, confidence is an important variable, too. Sometimes, it is just not your day.
I said both because you name 2 things, but I`m a person that tends to consider this kind of scorelines (every scoreline to tell you the truth... every fact of life...) is a result of multiple variables... I do believe in complexity (sp.?) even when some factors/variables are more important than others. :)
