Federer leads 4-0 head to head, but Gaudio has shown some fight in each of their encounters so far, and I would expect nothing less tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be easier than usual, and congratulations Fed for a new bitch tomorrow.

I think Federer was playing better last year than he is at the moment, while Gaudio is certainly playing better.

If Federer has another lapse in concentration like yesterday, watch out ;).

Gaudio has a chance if Roger twists his ankle on the sticky surface otherwise Gaston will lose.

Rogiman
11-18-2005, 12:43 PM
It took Gonzalez at his brainless worst to lose narrowly to Gaudio, missing 4 MP's.
To top it all Gaudio will be tired, which makes for a convenience straight sets win.

And Federer wasn't at his worst when he dropped that set 1-6 to Coria?

I wouldn't dare write off Gaudio so easily. He always gives Federer some trouble, so if the latter's not at 100% (which he says he's not), it could be another tough match.

First, Don't expect him to play like that when it matters, and second, comparing to Gaudio Coria is Sampras.

Just sit and watch the thrashing.

best case scenario is federer loses second set something like 6-1 because the chinese are paying him under the table to make matches interesting even though it just makes them more boring. coria match was a disgrace.

Feds is into personal bitches territory, 4-0 Gaudio 5-0 Davydenko 4-0 (last 4 meetings) Nalby. There is no preview, this is a squash.

of course i hope roger wins, i'm relieved it's gaudio not gonzo, hopefully roger will be ready to play better than he did in his last match and will make it to the final. :)

I imagine Federer would be happier that he is playing Gaudio instead of Gonzalez, because at Wimbledon this year (Fed on more favourable surface and better form), Fena did put up a good fight.

Not only at Wimbly, but also at Roland Garros and Monte Carlo. Of course, Feña is more familiar with clay than with grass, but it should be reckoned as well. :)

The only way that Roger can possibly lose is if he goes on a coke binge, manages to get himself run over by a truck and handcuffs himself to the net, refusing to play in a protest that he shouldn't be forced to continue winning. This is a practical joke, someone needed the vCASH or is on the Kate Moss diet. Both are highly plausible!

I definitely believe Roge finds that gaudio is more preferable to play than gonzo on this surface
I would be very surprised if he had any mid-match lapse like with guille. I thik he knows the importance of this match (the dead match with guille did not matter)

Federer would have to play like he did in the 2nd set vs. Nalbandian, 2nd set vs. Ivan and 2nd set vs. Coria for Gaudio to win and he might not even win then.

If the Weasel can take a set off Rogi, who knows what Gaston can do to him tomorrow... he DID beat Fena, after all, and he's fighting hard this week. I'm happy he's in the SF. Better than someone like AA [ho hum]...

I think it will be a great "psycologhical" match. Federer is having bad moments in all matches (it happened in 2nd set against Nalby, Ljubo and Coria) and Gaudio always have them :p

so i think that federer will win in 3 sets or 2 sets, the 2nd in a tie break :p

I wouldn't be so quick to write Gaston off at all. He put Federer in knots the previous times they played at some stage in their matches.

I think if Federer were to win, following the pattern of his matches this week, he could win a very fast and easy first set, then Gaudio comes back storming in the 2nd, and in the third Federer wins the crucial important points to close out a tight third set. It could be very similair to the match they played last year in Hamburg with Roger winning 6-1,5-7,6-4.

If Gaston were to win, it would be similair to his win today over Gonzo.

Either way, it is likely we will have a tight 3 set dogfight.

saw the match, fed broke in the third set thanks to gaudio losing 3 points in one service game due to foot faults when scores were 3 all gaudio serving...

the ugly match stats
federer gaudio
67% 1st sere in 62%
77% 1st serve won 70%
5 aces 2
3 DF's 4
