Gaudio, Calleri, Davydenko & Robredo will be playing this tournament in honor to Guillermo Vilas.

It will be played at the Luna Park Stadium (indoor) in a Carpet surface.

It seems there will be a "5th" surprise players. Tournament will be played in a round-robin mode.

Guillermo ''no way i'd play an exo'' Coria, is not playing this event. Nalbandian is supposed to replace him.

Para argentinos, el teléfono para sacar entradas es 4000-1010.

The Luna Park Stadium is the most expensive of all of them, let alone the fact that we're talking about Nalbandian and Gaudio, two top ten that won't play for nothing and two international players who won't come just for fun ;)
But I think it will be worth it :)

Guillermo ''no way i'd play an exo'' Coria, is not playing this event. Is it just your personal opinion or does Coria really get criticized in Argentina because he doesn't take part to an exhibition during his off-season??
I guess he only wants to make a complete break and take a real vacation, which might be a good idea judging by his performances lately.

However, people in Argentina will be happy to see David rather than Coria now. ;)

Carito_90

The stadium is very small. Like, it's alright for gigs and that kinda stuff but for a tennis match it's quite small.

Jime, I was sitting in the Pullman part when I went to the White Stripes concert and It was pretty good. I believe it's at the same level as the Platea Alta... but the Cabeceras are can be pretty high, depending where you get your seat. I'm honestly not sure  Like... I don't know how big the court's gonna be and yeah.

Deb, 100 or 120 are REALLY expensive for a tennis ticket. Of course compared to the 1200 (no, it's not for one person but for 6) it's not that much but it still is.
You have to think of it as if you were paying 100 bucks for a tennis ticket in an exho. Everything is more expensive here. Don't convert it into dollars because here we don't think in dollars. Of course for someone who comes from the USA it's going to be cheaper because of the devaluation of the dollar, but the income here is the same in pesos as it is in dollars, or even less. I am not too aware of salaries, but it's not like we're paid 30.000 pesos each month to say 100 is not a lot, people get paid... let's say, with a regular job I suppose 1000 or so. So yeah the income is the same or lower, you have to see it that way, not converting :p Or if you want, convert, but both the salary and the money of the tickets to see the proportion.

Oh god I am talking maths here. :scared:

Anyway I really want to go.

The most expensive seats for an exhibition here would be that expensive - $100 or even more. The difference here is that there are no exhibitions here like this one you guys are having - every exho I know of here is for charity, so it's just interesting to me that's all. I'm not disagreeing with you that the tickets are expensive :) I hope you all get to go!!!!!

David's making a charity exhibition on sunday where he'll play tennis, drive rally cars and play football-tennis with Maradona. The tickets are really cheap, and people must bring some food for the kids.

Of course they are. If they charge you 12000 and 16000 they will still be sold out . Money means nothing for pro thieves .....................
Unfortunately most of the common people in Argentina can´t even dream of paying 50 pesos a day for an exhibition.............
In most of the TMS/ Grand Slams the tickets for the first days are cheaper.
That´s the problem in Argentina, some people have made fortunes ( don´t ask how......... ) and they can afford everything while most of them don´t make even 600 pesos a month.
It´s an exhibition for Christs sake promoters, stop stealing people´s money ...........

Clerc will take part playing doubles with Vilas. They used to be great rivals but since they stopped competing they're friends (Vilas spent two months at Clerc's home in Mexico last year).

These are excerpts of Olé's article about the Vilas Cup:

http://www.ole.clarin.com/jsp/v4/pagina.jsp?pagId=1099009

On Monday Vilas gave the initial kick by calling Clerc to invite him to take part in next Sunday’s exhibition at the Luna Park, with Nalbandian and Gaudio. “Batata” agreed immediately and yesterday they started training morning and afternoon at the Vilas Club. Today they will repeat the routine there to “get into rhythm”.

THE EXHIBITION

Vilas: “It’s going to be a tennis festival. Nalbandian’s title in the Masters Cup will be recognized, but it will also be a prize for Gaudio who was never paid homage for his title in Roland Garros. That was a huge mistake, he should have had this recognition sooner”.

Clerc: “It’s a great honour to be able to participate in this festival, we will be uniting two very successful tennis eras. Vilas opened the doors for all of us tennis players. Gaudio and Nalbandian, two of today’s greats, have achieved great things, but the first was Vilas. Nobody can take that away from him”.

The first one was pretty boring, however Feña got an ovation at the end becaus ehe played some good tennis and some unbelievable shots! There was even a ball that went to the crowd, and it nearly hit me! Thank God it didn't, otherwise I would be hospitalized by now.
Then, the David match was awesome! David seems really fit, and he was playing great! Dent has a very interesting game, and it was nice to see him live too :)

Well, I just saw the 2nd set but yes he was playing great and the important was they were all enjoying, David was pumping up the crowd in the last game it all finished with an ''olé olé David, David''

Although the last part was a bit like a Davis Cup background. He even said that if an exhibition is like this, what would happen if we ever win the cup.

Then David and Gaston played some balls with boys with mental problems. Very emotive, and David couldn't be any happier.

Copa Desafio Internacional is part of the Copa Vilas...on Thursday night. It's the "international players" (Robredo and Tursunov) against the Argentinian players (Acasuso, Del Potro, Calleri)...2 singles and a doubles.

Then the proper Copa Vilas is Friday-Saturday with Gaudio, Robredo, Calleri and Tursunov (apparently he has replaced Davydenko who will be on his honeymoon)

yeah i remember how he served against gonzalez in viña del mar early in the year (basically he just put the serve in but nothing else )and now his serve looks so much improved and can get some free points or the control in the rallies. he has really wroked very much on his service motion/technique.

JMDP has been working exceptionally hard on his serve this past 6 months. He says he realises it needs to be improved to give him maximum success on the Tour. He has also been working extremely hard on his all-round fitness with gym work, running, and exercises to improve his upper body strength etc. He is very single-minded and determined to succeeed, And yes - he is only just 18 (turned 18 at the end of September) - and will actually only officially graduate from High School this month! He has been working on his school work via the Internet etc throughout this year - so congrats to him!

Robredo d. Gaudio 6-1 6-1
Calleri d. Tursunov 6-3 4-6 6-3 :yeah:

Gaudio really sucks in this surface!!!

Calleri v Tursunov was a very good match (compared to Massu-Horna in the other Tv Channel  ), but Dmitry have problems with the 1st service, and Calleri serves good and take advantage froM Dima 2nd service, and finally he wins the match..

Dima is an idol!!! and he plays really good, an real athlete... It is a pleasure to have him in Argentina... He will come to a party in my house tomorrow!!

Saturday (matches starts 20:30 Buenos Aires)
Third place:
Tursunov vs Gaudio
followed by
Final:
Calleri vs Robredo

MY Predictions:
Calleri d. Robredo 4-6 7-5 6-4
Tursunov d. Gaudio 6-1 6-0 :p

Gato  what's wrong with him!!! :(

He has spent a lot of time on holidays without playing matches. I watch the match yesterday and that was obvious, he was a bit slow and discoordinated. Moreover, he has put on a few kilos, so I think he has to go to the gym.
I hope this holidays are useful for him in 2007.

yes, argentina isn't playing this year...but they played the last 2 years. it could be because dulko isn't ranked high anymore, i don't know...but also maybe because they didn't do so well last year and they try and bring different countries, not the same one every year. the tournament director usually asks players/countries to come or sometimes the players themselves ask to come. anyway, i'm glad that spain, russia and croatia are playing :)
