Does Agassi have a chance to win Shanghai Master Cup?

I think this will be the perfect indicator of his future chance at grand slams.
If he wins, then he is definitely going to be the favourite going into Australian Open next year. His US Open performance this year had shown that he has as good a chance as anyone ranked below Roger on hardcourt. He is not going to beat Roger on grass or Rafael on clay. If he can revenge his loss to Roger from 2003 final and beat Roger indoor, then I'm sure he will carry this win into Melbourne and start some sort of a winning streak like Roger did in 2004. So I guess what I'm asking is, does Andre, the 2nd best indoor player in Shanghai have a chance to take Roger down?

Only if Federer doesnt play.

I doubt Agassi can even beat Ljubo indoor. or nadal.

i wouldn't say that this is a perfect indicator of his chances for future slams but that's ok. and i definitely disagree about this potentially being a turnaround in his match series against roger. anyway, does he have a chance to win shanghai? sure. will he? i hope not. although the way things are going we might see either federer or nadal withdraw before this thing even gets started:rolleyes:

I don't think so.

Depends on everyone's health & interest, and if he did another cycle of steroids, or whatever Juice he uses.

Must we continue to spread rumors around?

Agassi could most likely beat Nadal on this surface provided that he is in good health. Ljubo might be a problem for him, he's on a hot streak this season, and of course the ROGERER.

If Andre beat Roger and won the cup it would mean one of two things:
1. Andre can walk on water
2. Roger got lost on the way to the court and lost by forfeit.

Of course, that is assuming Roger is healthy as well.

as long as he is in the draw he has a chance. now how realistic the chance is, is a different story. and if you want the answer you were looking for, no i don't think he will win the title. too many other players out there that are better at it. got a question, what would Jerry Seinfield do if Ljubicic won the TMC? Not saying he will, but he has been to two straight TMS indoor finals. Wouldn't it be funny though.

If this is carpet. Andre is second pick after Roger.

He might win, but this is not an indication of anything especially since 3 of the top competitors Hewitt, Safin and Roddick are not playing and for Hewitt and Roddick they have a chance at 3 of the same Slams that Agassi has any chance of winning again in addition to Federer, so how it can be a real indication when there are these 3 players out.

Australian Open is where Andre has the biggest chance of winning his last grand slam.
I dont believe that he has ever beaten Nadal and Federer in the same tournament before. It is likely who ever wins this tournament will have to have wins against both. I'm sure Andre will not find as much difficulty in defeating Rafael who is even less likely going to be Andre threat in his most favourite slam tournament. So if he can beat Roger here, I'm sure that'll give him enough confidence boost to go to the top in Australian Open.
Yes, the other members of top 10 have the same potential to win Australian too like Safin did this year, but I think that Andre has shown in the US Open that his biggest challenge is none other than Roger Federer by reaching the final. If he can do it in Shanghai, I'm sure he can do the same in Melbourne.

after seeing that Andre is in the same group as Rafa, Davy and GG... i think his chance has improved...

Rafa = Fed Killa

Hope so..but I don't think he can't beat Fed or Rafa.

I doubt it but it would be a great accomplishment if he did it even with all the players out since his a 35 year old grandpa. If he comes to play, I think he makes the SF round.

he will try, guys ... ;)
:wavey: Andre Agassi forever :wavey:

Well, you doubted that Berdych could do it too, so there's still a hope. :)

AA is an unknown -- what exactly IS his condition now? He could be fully fit and raring to go. Never underestimate AA. The fact that he's in Shanghai shows he is completely committed and there to win.

Whos the oldest TMC winner?

11-09-2005, 03:25 PM
no...there's at least 3 players he can't beat

11-09-2005, 03:35 PM
I would dearly love Andre to win it, he hasn't won it in its current form, and with a Fed injured maybe he has a chance.. Rafa got him on outdoor HC, but this is indoors, and its quicker, and I think he can take him. I also think he'd take Ljubicic.

I expect him to make the final, depends if Fed is winning with style on whether he will win.

11-09-2005, 03:36 PM
It's impossible to beat Federer and Nadal back to back, so no chance.
