The match we all have been waiting for. waiting for 8 months  before today i thought Andy would of won, but now that he has back problem it should be a good match, since Ivan is tired(according to admin of his website, Ivan gets wounds on his lips when he is really tired, had those today, but also he says they go away in day and he is feeling fine  )

I wonder if Andy's even going to play.

He looked really rough out there today with whatever was wrong with his back.

Meheheheh.

If he attempts to and he's not in any better shape tomorrow than he was today, he's not just going to lose, he's going to get his ass kicked.

I don´t know. When I look back at Andy´s matches, it seems as if he´s destined to win this tourney. He already should/could have lost twice this week, but somehow made it through (be it with the help of his opponents or by good play on the big points). I hope that Ivan makes it because he played terrific in the last few weeks and he really deserves to win a TMS this season.

Whatever the outcome tomorrow (and Sunday if he makes it), Andy's "got" to consider this TMS an accomplishment*. Two matches where he fought like hell and won rather than imploding, sandwiching a "wow" match where the fruits of his recent labors shined brightly.

That said, my prediction is that a healthy Andy wins in two over bulbous head tomorrow.

(*an accomplishment as long as Andy doesn't end up with a lingering injury that knocks him out of Shanghai)

I like both, but I think Ljubo will win again this time. Andy played like crap the first set today against Ferrer and it seems his back pain affected his game in this part of the match.

i voted Lbj but not with confidence. Roddick has fresher legs despite this three-setter against Ferrer.

He did well to beat Ferrer and to fight back, but Ljubicic is a different caliber than Ferrer at this time of the season on this underground.

Ljubicic-Roddick
Can Andy Roddick stop Ivan Ljubicic? The task looks extremely hard, considering the quality of tennis shown by the Croatian this year. In the last few weeks, he has captured two ATP events (Metz and Vienna), and came very close two weeks ago, to adding the ATP Masters Series Madrid to his list of wins. There, he only bowed in the final, 7-6 in the final set, to the world n°2 Rafael Nadal.

For Ljubicic, the key word is confidence. Having worked extremely hard with Italian coach Ricardo Piatti, he is playing as though nothing can happen to him. His huge serve, his physical condition, and the power he can generate on his shots are weapons on which he knows he can rely. Although it is already likely that he has secured a spot for the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai, he is keen on going all the way in Bercy in order to put all the chances on his side, as well as capturing his first ever ATP Masters Series.

On Friday night, Andy Roddick saved two match points before miraculously escaping defeat against an extremely inspired David Ferrer. Although he dropped his serve for the first time in eight matches (three times!) Roddick’s near-defeat may give him extra energy to try and earn his spot in the final. But he knows the value of his opponent, as Ljubicic won their last encounter, this year, in a thrilling Davis Cup tie

Well, I like Andy, but I'm pulling for Ljubicic. I don't think Andy was really injured out there today, so I think he will be fresher than Ljubicic and that worries me for Ljubicic.

I just hope Ljubicic can summon the energy for two more matches.

Can't wait to see this one!

I am hoping Ljubicic will pull this one out, I really want to see him win a TMS finally.

As for who will win it, tough to say. I only saw Ivan's match today and there were times when he looked dead on his feet but Roddick doesn't seem to be in such hot shape either. Tough to call. But I want and I think Ivan will pull it out in 3 sets.

Whatever happens in this match, I want the winner to win the whole event.

He will have flown the coop.

But on a serious note, I wouldn't discount any of the semifinalists at this point. Ivan looked exhausted during that 2nd set against Robredo. From what has been posted Roddick looked down and out. Berdych and Stepanek are both very tricky moreso on a fast indoor carpet court- it's anyone's title.

Hopefully Roddick, but unless his back has made a miraculous recovery I don't think he stands much of a chance.

His best hope is probably serving his way to a tie break, and then hoping for a few mistakes from Ljubo.

I really want Ivan win - but I worry that now he has qualified for the Masters' there might be some reaction and he might relax and let Roddick in. I also partly agee with what bavaria100 said - that The Duck has almost left this tournament twice (against Dent and Ferrer), but somehow clung on - so maybe it's his "destiny" to win this one. Hope not though - Ajmo Ivane :)

I think Ivan's warm fuzzy feelings for Roddick, should be enough to push through any tiredness barriers, he has everything in his favour to win here, but probably won't.

Tie-breakers will be the key. Andy has to start winning them. In their 7 meetings, the winner of this match-up has almost always been the winner of the tie-breakers.

Ivo's recent tie-break record is much better than Andy's.

I believe that this match will come down to the mental game, and Ivan has been much stronger mentally than Andy as of late.

Andy wasn't too bad mentally against Dent and Ferrer. But off course this will be much harder because of the history between these two.

Now that Ljubo has qualified for Shanghai, there is a 50-50 chance that the two will meet again in Shanghai in a couple of weeks. :scared: I'm not sure which match I'd rather see Andy win, if I had a choice (off course one player could win both meetings).

Pretty much, yeah, which is a horrible record for someone living and dying on his serve, let alone when he faces a player who is every bit the big server he is.
