Stevie, did you see the match? Zhenya is impressive talent, isn't he? ;) :yeah:
good revenge for Eckental ;)

Stevie
11-22-2005, 12:16 PM
Hi Nathi,Yes,I saw the match. Korolev was very happy that he finally beat Mertl, H2H was 02...I really like his game, little similar like other Russians like andreev or davydenko...but this guy is really talented :rocker2:

Nathaliia
11-22-2005, 12:19 PM
Oh exactly, Andreev that's what I thought after seeing him! I don't know Davydenko's game so much :tape: I mean never paid much attention or analysed...

Yeah Korolev knows how to enjoy victories and be happy oncourt! Sometimes he reminds of Nadal too much  once exactly... when he played El Aynaoui in Aachen... really... Nadal's gestures. I hope he can work how to avoid it.
Time to take second challenger title this autumn! /of course if Dawid Olejniczak doesn't take his first!/

PS. And this service :haha: I think he was watching too many Zabaleta's matches in early childhood  But effective one...

Stevie
11-22-2005, 12:33 PM
He can have great future but he is still so young...we will see.I still want to go to the stadium to see Olejniczaks match,I saw him in Szcezcin and this guy really improved a lot. But surface is here pretty fast and that should suit more to Mertinak. By the way,I saw the end of the match between Zelenay and Kevin McDuffee, who I never heard of,but on the ITF site is that he is trained by Boletieri...unfortunately I saw only last game of the match,in which McDuffee double faulted 3times in a row. I just wonder how much he payd for wild card because this guy is not be talent from Boletieri academy...

Nathaliia
11-22-2005, 12:44 PM
haha... yeah... WC's are treasures... OK so come and support Olejniczak from me ;) well... i had an interview with him (besides he's a very nice guy no matter he shouted at me once at night on the empty street but i believe it was just a joke :tape: ) and he said he had improved mentally.... and it's so evident. he used to "burn in flames" in the important match moments, now he doesn't do this. once he woke up and decided to change his attitude and it worked  that's why he played in Szczecin the way he played, and earlier gave so good show in national futures events :yeah:
I also think Mertinak is much bigger favourite, but to never lose a hope is the most important in my case.
Thank you for the reports :wavey:

PS. I've seen Zelenay once, straight from his height it was easy to forsee he would be attacking , but still the most interesting think i can say about him is that he had t-shirt from Adidas and panties from Nike.

Stevie
11-22-2005, 12:52 PM

Nathi, you are rights. When I arrived the score was for olejniczak 64,44 and he had breakpoint, then another. Mertinak hold and then 4 unf.errors gave mertinak set without real fight.3rd set was just about who would make less unf.err. olejniczak started to make some errors from backhand side,so Mertinak attacked this weaker side more often and started go to the net more often. I think he deserved to win this match, but both players did not show anything special. I know mertinak but I expected little bit more from olejniczak. however, after the match he was really dissapointed because he new he had big chance to win that match

Stevie what's happened to Bracciali?

Injuries?

Stevie
11-23-2005, 04:57 PM
The sad thing is that nothing happened to him.He just did not want to plau this tournament i guess. He came on court without any bag, just holding in hand 4 different!!! head raquets.during the warm up everzbody saw i was laughing how he is playing. after about 5 games he borowed 2 wilson raquets from amir hadad who was watching the match. he played with these raquets few games. at the end,he lost 16,26 to the guy ranked around 1100 in the world who is not even young and talented...these players he would normally beat 63,61...it was really ugly and disrespectful to the tournament and people watching this match.he was number 1 seed.... :armed:

Well Elsner is a claycourter rather than anything else. I'm actually surprised why he is skipping those Petrobras challengers

JMG
11-24-2005, 04:57 PM
Yes, Elsner is mostly good on clay courts but also on hardcourts - he defeated Sluiter and ToJo last year in Long Island. He never had success on indoors, but I don't see a reason why he is that bad. :( imo he has the game to better on indoors as well.

Yeh Nathi you are right, i would like to see play giraldo and del potro after i finally saw korolev, and that guy is so impresive,he hits the ball so hard from both sides.i had to leave but before i left he was playing with pequery 26,64,21 with a break of serve.in 1st set he did not play well but from the middle of 2nd set he played many unbelieveble shots,i really like that guy

exactly! when i saw his match against Younes he wasn't playing anything really impressive in the first set. Some shots showing it might be a talent in future... reaching top 50 in few years... Younes had more experienced. In second set he started to risk and it was so effective . In the end he didn't lose his nerves. Also in the semifinal then he showed he has really good nerves... wow... And he really can be a top 50 even next year! He's got the spirit. He says about himself he's gonna be the number one. I am not sure... and I realize he's still young, but top ten is in his reach. If Safin and Davydenko can be high ranked, why Korolev can not?

If Giraldo and Del Potro play in Prague, I definitely go there, no matter how many exams I have then!!! The Argentines in Szczecin said JMDP is too young to come to Poland, but maybe he's old enough to go to the beautiful Prague?

looks like James is doing so well in this tournament . I wonder what can be his next step in 2006... He really has chances in tournaments like this indoors... coming to Wrocław, this is obvious.

Good luck James! :yeah:

Sluiter is going him on the return of serve I feel...but there again if James volleys well and wrong-foots the Dutchman a lot then he could have a good chance. Double-fisted players are always vulnerable to wrong - footing and having the attack taken to them.

Yes the score is right. In 1set there were 2 breaks of serve, sluiter really dominated. In the second set thoman was trying to stay in the match, play much better but sluiter was simply too good today, serving well, moving well, hitting the ball really well and nearly not making any mistakes.so only break came in last game of the match.sluiter seemed very happy after the match with his performance.Congratulation raemon :worship:
