Футбол - looks strange? no! but we must learn a new letter which is Ф

Ф = F
у = U
T = T
б = B
о = O
л = L (ou) :yeah:

oh it's not too complicated :D

П = P
а = A
в = W
е = YE
л = L

= Pavel :yeah:

Беррер = Berrer ;)

remember в = W and Б = W
p is not "p" like in latin alphabet but "R"

also they pronounce "e" like "ye" that's why Elena they read Yelena or Jelena or however we would write it.

nihil66
11-16-2005, 03:15 PM

Nathaliia
11-16-2005, 03:15 PM

is polish similiar to russian (lanuage-wise)?
Yeah very similar. Of course we have the same fonts that you do. Russian alphabet (english name for it is cirillic? i don't know haha) is also used in Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia, Bulgaria, some parts of Moldova (Primorje actually - or Naddniestrianskiy Kray but they do call theirselves Primorje i know, i've been there and almost got killed :scratch: ) in Europe. I think I didn't miss anything.

But in Aachen I was talking some Russian and some Polish with Korolev's dad and we understood each other. With Korolev I was speaking English :lol:.

Nathaliia
11-16-2005, 03:20 PM
Berrer is not too hard, looks almost the same.
so do you learn russian in school in poland?
No, we rather don't. We have English or German normally... I don't mean little village schools or some other poor schools... but English is now everywhere I guess starting from 4th grade? uhmmm.... I don't know the new system. I started having German in 5th grade of "die Grundschule" (primary school) and it was my only language.

I had English, German and Latin obligatory at highschool, I was at the humanistic profiled class. At uni I only had Latin one year (1 semester Latin, 1 semester Roman Law) and I was writing a qually test for English groups of advance but they said they won't teach me anything new, so me and one more girl will write only the exam and already this February, instead of attending 2,5 years for lectures :D.

But normally there are different languages in Polish schools, apart from English there are mainly German and French, but also Russian in some cases.

german would be "kyrillisch"
didnt understand all of that.
why did you almost get killed in moldavia? dangerous horse-riding?
who's Korolev?
ohh Korolev is the winner of Aachen challenger! He's a Russian living for 7 years in Weiden and he's a cousin of Anna Kournikova. He's 17 y.o. and will be a star soon!

And in Moldavia I was just travelling by car... actually my family and I we thought it would be shorter way to Crimea (Krim :) ) in Ukraine but there was a home-war which we didn't know about because the media in Poland were totally silent. The first news in the media appeared few months after we were already back home :D It was in 2000.

nihil66
11-16-2005, 03:25 PM
so how good is your german?
können sie mich verstehen? ;)
I did the humanistic branch as well, had to learn Latin, English and Old Greek (Altgriechisch)

dont know where to get doubles results, maybe nathaliia can look them up at http://www.privatbankcup.com/ ? although that site seems to be veeery slow

nihil66

6 all, tiebreak.

i dont follow challengers that much, only now that there's
no ATP-Tournies anymore.

Nathaliia
11-16-2005, 03:29 PM
können sie mich verstehen? ;)

jawohl!

haha ;) nooo i rather don't use any German until i get drunk :tape: because i know it sucks and i am ashamed :awww:. I need to revise the grammar. However in Aachen few weeks ago I was using it and communicating. I said to one Turkish taxi driver just after arriving:
- Ich spreche Deutsch nicht gut...
and he said:
- Ich also ;)

nihil66
11-16-2005, 03:29 PM
moldavia isnt that much in the news over here as well ;)
My sister is doing some work at university about this, what are the reasons for Germans/Austrians being badly informed about the ex-"dismal side of the iron curtain" (to quote spinal tap ;))

Nathaliia
11-16-2005, 03:30 PM
the only doubles result of Lars and Wang is that they defeated Aksyonov and Levin (both UKR) 6:3 6:3
no other scores.

nihil66
11-16-2005, 03:33 PM
"ich also" nice english-german mix :)
"jawohl" is only used in the military :D
at least you can communicate, if i would go to any eastern country i would be completely lost. my sister is going to the ukraine with her university-class. i wonder how that will turn out ;)

nihil66
11-16-2005, 03:35 PM
still tiebreak it seems. got it from here:
http://www.marathonbet.com/liveresults.shtml
check the tennis box and click the button

Nathaliia
11-16-2005, 03:38 PM
oh people in Ukraine do speak German (sometimes :lol: ) i am sure it would be OK. Here in Poland we are quite good informed about what's happening on the East, and it's not only one track information.
For the Germans it may be also important because some German people still live in Romania (according to Pavel actually heh).
When I was in Aachen I heard a radio broadcast about Polish political scene. Truly saying, I was scared, so much one-track-minded it was! That Poland is ruled now by populists famous of blocking roads. It's not exactly this way. They really shouldn't scare people like that.

Nathaliia
11-16-2005, 03:40 PM
here we say "jawohl ich liebe alkohol" - i didn't know it was military :confused:

ich spreche deutsch nur ein bisschen.... this should be civil ;)

Pavel 7:6 :rolleyes:

nihil66
11-16-2005, 03:46 PM
grrrr, hope this doesnt break berrer.
pavel himself actually lives in germany :lol:

in germany news about the east still seem to be somewhat influenced by that coldwar-thingie ;)
hows that in poland? pro-east anti-west?

"jawohl" is not really military, it's just obsolete and pretty formal.

Nathaliia
11-16-2005, 03:50 PM
haha i would say it's anti-west and anti-east :lol: but i don't want to talk about politics too much ;) let's see. the new government has just been elected, so was the new president, let's give them the chance and credits!

Berrer 6:7 2:1 auf geht's!

maybe we just have to wait and see till Berrer's hard shots start hitting the right points!

nihil66
11-16-2005, 03:57 PM
at least he didnt break down after that tiebreak, he still believes ;)
i dont want to talk about german politics either ;) kind of chaotic atm
