Hey there :) I am hoping to go this event and shoot some photos for a few days  How many of you will be going to this event?

I havent been before, but I will maybe go 3 days or so! Maybe more If I can afford the 15-20£ travel each day, and take the other days off uni!

Will be nice to attend a tournament, otherwise I will have to wait until june :(

Seems an easy distance from victoria to south kensington station, Anyone know how close that station is to the royal albert hall?

The following players have qualified:
Thomas Muster :woohoo:
John McEnroe
Cedric Pioline
Pat Cash
Jim Courier
Sergi Bruguera

Will be nice to see players like muster and brugera for a young guy like me, who didnt see them during their "normal" playing days  I will try to get some nice muster shots for you georgewhitler. I am hoping to have a press pass for this event, we will see how it goes.

Also can have an idea of the other players in the event from looking at the rankings:

Joey, the walk was about 10/15 minutes I think, but it is along a straight road entirely, so very easy & straightforward.
If you don't get the press pass, where will you be sitting dude? Also, I would ignore notices saying don't use flash, as I have been for 3 years consecutively, and only last year did I take my camera, as everyone uses flashes, no-one cared.
It's not like these guys are pros! Will you go to the Henman exhibiton day, or just a doubles day [match 2]?

I have sent in my application, if I dont get a pass I will not be going. Costs are too high! Its about 40£ a seat or something stupid I believe. I applied for all days I think, then ill choose which I will go on. Probably the weds, saturday, sunday or maybe another day. Just hope I can get a pass to be honest, I really enjoy being in the press area taking photos and its been quite a while since I have had the chance to

Although, from the distance you are shooting at and at 300mm or so (the flash isnt gonna have any effect to be honest). May as well just bump the iso up really high.

Hey chaps :D I have a question about the sessions of play! There is one at 1pm, how many matches are usually played in that session (2?). There is also another session at 7.30, how many matches are played in this one? what time does this session normally finish?

I would love to stay for both sessions, but the latest train I could get home is about 12.15 at night, so I may just have to go to the day session.

Anyway, I recieved confirmation on my pass. I will be there everyday apart from friday, and possibly at all the night sessions! The only time I wont be there, is the day session on friday because of a uni presentation (and maybe thursday night because I will have to get up early the next money, and cant get home at like 2-3 am).

Anyone esle going?

Looking forward to seeing brugera and muster :woohoo:

Should be the "Pro " set (First to 8)

Otherwise the second singles will go on beyond midnight.
Hmmmm sorry for not understanding! But the first to 8 is the only set?

PS is singles 3 full sets?

Ivanisevic named in Croatia squad

Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic has been included in Croatia's squad for next month's Davis Cup final against Slovakia.
Yet the 35-year-old, who retired four years ago, is not likely to play in the tie in Bratislava from 2-4 December.

Croatia captain Nikki Pilic has also picked Ivan Ljubicic, Mario Ancic and Ivo Karlovic in his squad.

Slovakia will be represented by Dominik Hrbaty, Karol Beck, Michal Mertinak and Karol Kucera.

Ivanisevic retired from the men's tour - mainly because of shoulder problems - soon after winning Wimbledon as a wildcard in 2001.

He played doubles in the 2003 Davis Cup against the United States and is active on the veterans' circuit.

The 35-year-old Ivanisevic had qualified for November's Champions Masters at the Royal Albert Hall.

But he has now pulled out because it clashes with the Davis Cup final.

Croatia and Slovakia are first-time Davis Cup finalists.

Both came through last year's play-offs to earn a place in the 2005 World Group.

Was thinking the other day this was gonna happen. Personally, I find him boring as hell to watch. But he is one of the good guys, real entertaining personality.

Woodforde stepped in for wilander, and they only played one set. Doubles and mcenroe were the same. I was there from 1.30 till 11 at night, but had to leave at the beginning of the second set of brugera. He was 1-0 up in sets :D

Sadly, i wont be going again 2moro. I got fucked over by the train service, got home at 2.30 because the trains werent running and had to get a bus!!

George, I shot loads of photos during the muster match. But I watched some of it too, from seeing him play there, I bet this guy was brutal. He was hitting 128mph serves lol, and he hits with alot of power still. He does get down low, and wack that ball off both sides! Bates actually gave him a good match, I was surprised, I thought bates would be a total wanker who would get hammered by every one. Luckily, the muster shots came out well. The light is awful, and on the first day I hardly managed to get any shots, but on the second day, the images improved alot.

Muster, what a guy :D

Hey, I will be there for all of the day session and just the first match of the night session. No point for me to stay for pat cash or a crappy doubles match, considering the problems with transport the other night. I will take some photos, I usually use the doubles matches as a break to go get some food and a break, but I take a few shots too.
The food at the royal albert hall in the press room is great  I am really fussy, I dont eat sandwiches or anything like that, and I actually eat the food here  I remember the crap they serve up at eastbourne, I would rather starve than eat that crap. The rah, also has very nice looking staff, always nice to enjoy your food with a nice view.

Good 1st session and I hope big Muster can give it to McEnroe and I totally agree that the night session only has one match worth watching, but if you can get a few shots that would good.

The view is always important my friend.

For those who are interested, I am currently editing and adjusting the levels of my images from this event (wednesday). They will be shortly posted on www.inside-tennis.net

I have images from yesterday to sort to, but sorting through 600 photos is a pain in the ass. I didnt bother going today, I will probably go again tomorrow.
