Our man big Chucho is in Basel and the draw will be out soon and hopefully he can get a gimp in the 1st round and do well here.

Though with Chucho, it's good never to expect any results, then it's only disappointment.

Vamos Chucho show the Swiss fans what you have got.

I agree that it's winnable too - Massu is lacking in confidence lately and not at his best.

however i remember seeing Massu in Basel playing great. but I still think Chuchooooo ;) is the favourite, because of the reason you gave.

he really should stay away from the chocolate...eating fast food from mc'donalds and now going on the land of lindt chocolate ( which is very yummy;)) he will get fat like a whale

Well, I've definitely seen worse draws, I'm still anxious though.
Chucho has really bad h2h with Massu and I hope that he'll try to improve it in Basel.

Chucho, now you have no choice. You've got to conquer Basel in the singles

I wish Chucho didn't play with Prieto once again. In situations like that I'm having a dilemma... whom to support... but because of certain reasons I was cheering for Sebastián this time (although I shouldn't perhaps say it on the Chucho's forum :P). Anyways, at leastChucho can focus on singles now and perhaps I will see Ferrero - Chucho match on tv :D

Anyone who was able to watch it? Seems like a really even match (at least from the stats). I'm really pleased that he didn't choke in the end and dropped his serve only two times (both in the first set). Way the go Jose!!!

Great stuff Chucho on beating Ferrero. I thought here we go again, time to blow a good opportunity after losing the 2nd set and having match points, but to his credit, he didn't drop his head and broke Ferrero early, more of that Chucho would be nice.

This has been a good year for the big man and he made a QF in Montreal and put up a respectable performance against Federer, missed an easy shot against Stepanek in Madrid and didn't lose serve, and makes a QF here, not bad for someone who is meant to be just a clay player.

He has the best serve of the Argentine players, I wonder if people might believe that now.

That's the practical side of you coming out with that comment, yes it has to be shown cause they are overhyped with massive fan bases.

Chucho overhyped, that deserves this http://boa.apolyton.net/forums/images/smilies/nono.gif

I am relying on Choupi, to say that this is not an illusion.
And I'm relying on Eurosport....that makes things spicy, isn't it? :)

That overhype thing is making me laugh. The only reason Eurosport will show that match, it's because, given the other events they're showing (Linz and Lyon) and given who's playing respectively there, Basel got that time of broadcast. And the fact that it corresponds with Chucho's match is pure coincidence. A coincidence I like for once! ;)

*Ljubica*
10-28-2005, 09:04 AM
Eurosport  I get British Eurosport - and the only thing I can rely on seeing is Andy Murray  So good luck Chucho - wouldn't it be great if he won this tournament?

Effka
10-28-2005, 10:15 AM
Wow, there's a thread about Chucho and it already has 4 pages  (and going strong).

Guess what! No coverage in polish es this time either  They’ll show three other qfs, but Chucho, as a probably most overhyped player in the tour, didn't get his chance to be shown to the world. That's really frustrating, because when he beat massu, i thought that was obvious that his match against mosquito would be shown. Then again, there's Petrova playing in Linz at the same time, so the es thought 'hey, why not another wta tourney' which makes me sick, but I'm going to be here in front of scoreboard to cheer for the Big Guy. Great chance to make it to the semis, and then, with all the confidence, anything can happen. But now, Marcos is up and that's where all my focus should go... serve well Chucho, and don't get mad if he's going to play four dropshots in one game. Marcos is a qualifier and he won already five matches, so i think that may be the factor. Vamos Chucho!!!

Nathaliia
10-28-2005, 11:10 AM
Effka, don't you get Eurosport2? Don't they show Chucho? I ask out of curiousity I don't have this channel. By the way I don't like their match politics. When I am finally at home with some free time to watch tennis, which I haven't seen on TV since US Open, they prefer to show some WTA, as usual. But I saw Marcos Baghdatis yesterday (one set to be more exact). It looked like Haas more lost than Baghdatis won. However, he stayd tuned till the end and didn't get scared of the more experienced German. Hopefully Chucho is not going to behave similar way to Haas.
kindest greetings and good luck, N.

Effka
10-28-2005, 12:03 PM
I do get es2, but there's no place for Chucho, because they're showing Lyon i believe, and Basel only at 6 and 8 pm. Hopefully Chucho will make it to the semis, and then i'll be able to see him for the first time since us open. I saw him on the news yesterday though. They showed one point - a long really - it seemed like Chucho was really in a mood for running, but he spoiled an easy volley in the end (Orsanic wasn't happy i guess :p ).

10-28-2005, 12:19 PM
I knew this morning there were too many "ifs"....At least, 1 was too much. The one saying "if Eurosport keeps its promise". The hype over Chucho hasn't reached those jerks, as we're getting WTA now, instead of what they had announced yesterday, that is the QF at 14pm in Basel! BASTARDS!!!!

Vamos Chucho anyway. :)
