Gaston makes his indoor debut in Vienna and hopefully he can do something here in this wonderful city and doesn't get distracted by the surroundings.

Yes, I want him to go far in Vienna and do well at the last masters so he makes the Cup. Gaudio is not injuried or anything right?

Well Gaston has to do well in Madrid and Paris or better than he has previously, so he has a chance of going, even if it is as the alternate.

Nothing wrong with him at the moment, should be fresh and ready to go.

We have to remember that Gaston can't use any points he gets in Vienna or Lyon, unless he wins, in which case he would have to resign 35 points of a previous win. :( So these tournaments are more like high level practice sessions... Even so, I hope he gets good results!
VAMOS GASTON!!!

hey people, i aringrived in vienna today, about 3 hours ago. it's about 7 pm and i'm having my "lunch break" on meeting, and i'm depressed, because i wasn't able to go and see gaston on his first game...
i hope he wins this one, so i have the chance to see him tomorrow (i have some time out tomorrow). but i'm watching on tv and melzer's leading in second set (3:2) :banghead: . gaston won the first one.:bounce: he's adorable,oh i missed his face, but it's no good watching him on TV. i'll do my best to see him playing live and i have my CAM with me and maybe i'll record him and then post (i'll keep my fingers crossed on that).

anyway, i'll go now and i'll be back with more interesting stuff (i hope so!)
and it's 3:3 in second set.:woohoo:
go gaston

P.S. i hope the GWH is not mad at me!!(for writting some personal emotional stuff!)

well typical Gaston, would play some very risky/uncommon shots at key pts even if he can go away with a far more secure, and it went against him. but anyway, guess as Vale said this tourney, well this match was a high level practice indoors for next tourneys.

We know that the first match of any tournament is difficult for Gaston! Well, this was no exception, but I hope he took it well and is still feeling confident for Madrid! I'm sad because it's always sad when your fave loses, but let's keep this in perspective! He's still the same GG and will continue to make us suffer or celebrate! ;)

The full story from espn/abc:

Melzer Defeats Gaudio in Vienna Tourney

VIENNA, Austria Oct 12, 2005 — Former French Open champion Gaston Gaudio remained in a slump with a loss Wednesday to Austrian Jurgen Melzer in the first round of the BA-CA Trophy.

Melzer won 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (5) after Gaudio wasted a 5-3 lead in the third set. The Argentine fell to his fourth straight defeat and is without a victory on tour for almost two months.

He won the first-set tiebreaker, but Melzer converted the first break point of the match early in the second set and went on to force a third.

"I was rather nervous at the start, because the expectations are so high here in Vienna," Melzer said. "Breaking Gaudio early in the second gave me confidence."

In the final set, Melzer rallied by winning three games in a row to lead 6-5. Then he took the tiebreaker to win his first meeting with Gaudio.

"It's fantastic to have beaten such a great player," Melzer said. "But I need those wins to reach my goal, the top 10."
