I hope so too - they are both great players, no reason why they shouldn't work well as a pair.

Johansson Reaches The Last Eight

On Wednesday night, Johansson became the second player to reach the quarterfinal after defeating Vincent Spadea.

The defending champion had the edge already from the start and broke Spadea’s serve already at 1-1 in the first set. With an additional break at 5-3, the first set ended with a 6-3 win for the Swede. In the second set, Spadea saved a break point at 1-2 and held serve all the way to 4-5. This was the time when Johansson stepped it up and finished off the match.

- I played much better today. I served well, moved well and was a lot more aggressive than yesterday, Johansson said at the post-match press conference.

In the quarterfinal, the two-time champion in Stockholm will play the winner of lucky loser Alexander Waske and Paradorn Srichaphan. Johansson and Srichaphan have played each other twice before, with the Thai player winning on both occasions.

- Our matches have been really tough. I had a match point in the final in Nottingham last year and it would be a lot of fun to play him here at home.

Earlier during the day, Davide Sanguinetti became the first man to reach the last eight. The Italian 33-year old battled back to defeat Swiss qualifier George Bastl.

Thomas is so much better tha Paradorn, in my opinion. SO Tojo, please win it! Good luck!

^^^ Tojo is the better player by far, definitely - I mean, who has the grand slam? :-) C'mon Thomas! Paradorn just got lucky before.

The Swedish duo of Jonas Björkman and Thomas Johansson lost the semifinal to Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley.

After having lost the first set after a 14-12 tiebreak, the Australians got back and won the following two sets 5-4(2), 5-3. The decisive break came in the first game of the third set, with Johansson dropping serve.

Second seeded Arthurs/Hanley are in their fourth straight final in if... Stockholm Open. Tomorrow, they will take on the top seeds Leander Paes of India and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia and Montenegro.
