The RG doping case has another twist. Now it's L'Equipe that has revealed the player is Mariano Puerta that failed the test, this will be good for him to hear for sure, then again whichever player it was, they would have been contacted and now the alleged independent tribunal will look at it.

The banned substance deals with hypertension, and helps pulse and blood flow, this is an interesting choice considering he is an asthmatic as well.

Interesting that the drug he allegedly was using is used to treat guys for low flow priapism a medical disorder where the persistent erection of the schlong in the absence of sexual interest.

What sort of game does he play? I mean Roche is a good coach, so this can't be for the kid. Then again Aussie tennis needs something.

I mean I don't see the names of Nettle, Kimmich, Reid, for example threatening anytime soon.

a very strong fh, plays it with it really heavy topspin, serve was nothing too special but liked to get into the net a lot

it was really interesting chatting with him and some of the other guys out there today afterwards - the respect they have for roche is unparalled which is understandable

the sad thing was that this particular guy was saying he has received tennis scholarships in several US colleges and was thinking of setting up base their for the next few years, which seems to be the general fad amongst a lot of his peers as well apparently - more of a sad indictment of Aussie tennis infrastructure than anything else

Thanks for that review of his game. I have met Roche twice and it's clear why people have respect for the guy and I mean come big Lendl wasn't someone who respected many people and worked with Rochey for years.

The US college thing, well I don't see it as a good idea, though the only positive is that there is a chance for a good education if the tennis goes pear shaped.

Luczak went down that path and I am not sure it was necessarily the right choice, just hope he can get the top 100, then again he is a good guy and an Aussie who likes clay and I think he might have come on tour too late. Also Michael Tebbut the huge serving lefty from old times, did the same thing as well.

It's hard to based here, though it seems it's either the US or the UK for the Aussies, as sport is cyclical and this is not a good cycle for Aussie tennis. I mean I remember the golden Swedish generation, and there is a really good article which talks about he decline of tennis in Sweden and I might translate it in the off season, if you are interested.

I mean end of the day each to their own, but I can't possibly see how it can benefit a 16 -18 yr old kid to move to a foreign country away from family and expect to perform without that close support.

back in my high school days when i was half decent and was playing competitively I know some of my peers went over, and basically 10 years later I have no heard a thing from them - it's more of a case of these kids being attracted to the bright lights of the states.

I'm bias when it comes to this, i hate it when these teenagers go offshore, mostly for the wrong reasons.

and i would love to read that article you mentioned re: swedish players - though i can't possible see why they would consider it to be a problem, given their current depth in the pro tour??

or is it a case of these players starting up with tennis and then deciding when they are 16 or so that they want to play a different sport?

You're right each to their own, but in some cases players have to leave for the better of their games. I mean rural kids have to go to the cities in most cases. As for the foreign country it depends on where they are going, though if they want to play on the tour, they need to fend for themselves to an extent.

It can work for and against depending on the person.

The Madras vindaloo have heard about it, but never eaten it. I will be glad that it will clean my insides out and I haven't had a vindaloo in ages, think it's time I had one.

The PMK, well I can't help it that I happen to like Seppi, even though he is an AC Milan fan. I mean I didn't expect him to beat the PMK, but didn't expect him to win. I remembered the whole Cañas thing this year and that really bought the love back.

Is it me or the World XI are here on the piss for a holiday?

i'm indifferent with respect to PMK, though the way he tore apart willy at AO was pretty impressive.

as to the world XI - the answer is $1.3million, thats how much these guys are sharing over the 3 games. the concept is nice but in practice was never going to work. lets hope for a better showing from the test team

I mean the PMK well my friend has those feelings about Hanescu this year, he has fucked him over so many times it's not funny. The Swedish DC saga gets worse, especially with Söderling faking an injury not to play in India, the guy is a dickhead and having Zabaleta giving him one in the stomach in Hamburg was a good thing.

Endangered moose

Tis familiar Norwegian sight - a traffic sign showing a moose crossing - has become a hot souvenir item for tourists willing to ignore the law. Several hundred of the distinctive signs disappear from Norwegian roadsides every year, newspaper Nationen reports.

http://cache.aftenposten.no/multimedia/archive/00219/_1048304_jpg_219214h.jpg

The sign warns of "unusually high moose danger" for the next 800 meters.

The wandering moose in a bright red warning triangle is enjoying unprecedented popularity, and they are being stolen at a record rate.

"There are 500 moose signs stolen per year, many of them by Germans," Geir Ove Nordgård of the Public Roads Directorate told the newspaper.

The sale of souvenir stickers depicting the moose sign has been a popular item for years, but now tourists want the real thing, and nearly always opt to steal them.

Euroskilt, the firm that delivers the moose warnings, has only been approached once by a prospective private buyer.

"They were tourists that visited our office," said financial chief Erik Ødeli. "We haven't tried selling signs to tourists."

It has been rather windy most days, which is a pain in the proverbial for going swimming, and it rained a couple of mornings, but there has been at least a sunny period everyday.

As for the permanent residents, these are largely made up of Jews (namely Hungarian, Israeli and Russian), orthodox Russians, and Kiwis.

But in regards to the temporary ones, there are many kiwis and poms who come over for 6-12 months at a time. That said, at any given moment, there is no shortage of young scandis (predominantly swedes), french, italians and krauts - some of whom are only around for a few weeks at a time, others find temporary employment and stay a couple months.

Yes I had a nice time up there, but I'm home now and it's time to put in the hard yards and get back into shape.

Orgy may result in charges

Swedish police ended their surveillance by raiding a hotel room where a middle-aged Norwegian woman was entertaining eight naked men, one of them her husband.
The Norwegian couple had to turn hundreds away from the gangbang party they held at the Hotel Scandic in Mölndal in Sweden.

The Norwegian couple had placed a contact ad on the Internet announcing a gangbang party to be held in a room at the Hotel Scandic in Mölndal, just outside of Gothenburg, Swedish newspaper Expressen reports.

The couple had 480 responses and picked out 15 to attend the 'party'. The invitees paid NOK 300 per head to take part, money to cover the hotel expenses.

"Both my husband and I have wanted for several years to have sex with each other and several men at the same time," the woman told police, according to Expressen.

Police waited half an hour before ending their surveillance and making their raid. They believe the gangbang party is good business for the Norwegian couple, and that they also sell film of the orgy on their web site.
Two of the invitees have been charged with purchasing sex, and police are unsure about how many may have managed to do so.

The case is the first of its type in Sweden. Vice prosecutor Göran Sjödell wants to test the case to see if the court agrees that the money paid can be viewed as payment for sex.

"If the court agrees then I will take the matter further. Then the Norwegians can be charged with pimping, while the other men can be charged with purchasing sex," Sjödell said.

If the couple had held their party in Norway, prosecution would be highly unlikely, as buying sex does not violate the law.

You live in Red Hill or Manuka, then again where is there good to go in Canberra? I was only there once and went to Fithy McFaddens, the Durham Castle and the like.

I am a sprint swimmer, but this still requires intense training, and pushing one's self to the limits which goes hand in hand with vomiting what little food remains in one's stomach.

As for the supplements which can help you out with your exams, you can could try drinking Sustagen and taking creatine.

As for the Canberra region - Manuka is the place to be for the young and trendy as well as the rich during the daytime, while the nightlife is dominated by the wogs and the older clubgoers.

Filthy's is the best place to go for underage drinking, or if you just wanna have a few laughs with some mates. Many of my mates still go there out of habit I suppose. It is generally not a place that females like to hang around, so if you are seeking the company of that particular gender you will unlikely have any luck there, but it is a good place for playing darts.

Durham is slightly more upmarket and has tighter security, while Holy Grail (which is next to Durham) is severely overpriced and therefore tends to attract more of the older crowd. These 3 joints (amongst others), are located in Kingston, which is a short 5 minute walk from Manuka.

I don't live in the Manuka-Kingston area, but my school of 11 years (which also happens to be the school attended by Gough Whitlam :p) is located within a 5 minute walk of each, so I am well familiar with it. Red Hill is a sprawling suburb of great contrast: government housing - average family homes - trendy townhouse/villas - multi million dollar residences, but for some reason, people tend to associate it with the latter, even though it represents a vast minority of the area. Forrest, which like Red Hill is also adjacent to Manuka, is the most sought after suburb in Canberra which represents households with the highest average income - it is also where Packer and Murdoch have their Canberra residences, and where the old Raiders used to live when they were on top of the league.

edit: Forrest is more or less the Sandy Bay of Canberra.

The Prime Minister's Lodge is located in Deakin, which is on the opposite side of Forrest to Red Hill, and on the other side of Deakin is Yarralumla - which features 60%+ of Embassies and diplomatic residences. All these suburbs are pretty much centred around Parliament House and the lake (which is visible in that picture of Mal Meninga you copied in the tennis lookalikes thread  ).

Civic (Canberra City) is the main nightspot in Canberra, of which the most popular joint ironically, is affectionately known as 'the Moose' (Moose heads). This is where the Black Eyed Peas went after their gig down here 6 years ago, and where the visiting and local rugby league/union teams like to head to after a game. There is a separate bar and nightclub, depending on what you feel like. The place was burnt down a few years ago, before being re-opened last year. It's meant to be modelled on a "traditional" Canadian bar (whatever that means) hence the name, but it's a nice place nonetheless.

Sorry to interrupt the flow of your convo, but, as you've talked about tennis events, if you wanna see some of the pics I've taken in Metz, you can check the respective players forums of Monfils and Acasuso. You can also check the chat thread on the Gaudio forum. And for the most courageous of you, you can also have a look at the Mo Lahyani thread...

You can always interrupt, and thanks for all the pics that you have provided. You do a lot better than I do when it comes to that sort of thing.

That would make sense. There is one I haven't gone to, but I really want to go to. That's the Barcelona tournament, heard many good things about it from different sources, plus I think I could see a game at Camp Nou if I am lucky as well, a true cultural trip.

I am a sprint swimmer, but this still requires intense training, and pushing one's self to the limits which goes hand in hand with vomiting what little food remains in one's stomach.

As for the supplements which can help you out with your exams, you can could try drinking Sustagen and taking creatine.

What's Klim like? I think of him as a big guy who looks like Skeletor from the He-man series? It's a different type of training for sure, I don't know the swimmers can do it. I mean athletics was bad enough for me, but I am a land and not a water creature.

Thanks for the tips on the supplements, they should come in handy.

I know quite a few Tasmanians living in Canberra now, it seems the public service is the way to go. I am not sure if the Fyshwick supermarket might be a better job for some of them.

Thanks for the info about Filthy's and yes I was there with a few friends and definitely weren't getting any action in this regard. Yes, I went to those other two places and Durham wasn't that bad, though I did see this arse clown get thrown out horizontally which was funny for sure.

Thanks for the basic rundown of Canberra, so Forrest is the Lower Sandy Bay then? Isn't Queanbeyan the scum part or something like that.

Next time I am in Canberra, which could be sooner than I thought, I will keep this in mind. I used to go through there on the way to Thredbo and Jindy.

Couple won't pay fine for sex on stage

http://cache.aftenposten.no/multimedia/archive/00206/DSC_2918_1032180_jp_206829h.jpg

The environmental activists who claim they had sex on stage at a live music festival in Norway this week to help protect the world's rain forests say they won't pay fines doled out by police. That means the case will likely head for court.

Leona Johanson and Tommy Hol Ellingsen (right) are challenging a fine for having sex on stage during a music festival.

Leona Johansson and Tommy Holm Ellingsen after leaving the police station in Kristiansand, fully clothed.

"We'd rather go to jail than accept a fine," claimed Tommy Holm Ellingsen, who had sex with partner Leona Johansson before an audience of thousands at the Quart Festival in Kristiansand on Tuesday. The stunt, which concert organizers claim came as a complete surprise, has set off shockwaves, even in liberal Norway.

Both Ellingsen and Johansson were called in for police questioning on Wednesday and later slapped with fines of NOK 10,000 (about USD 1,400) each for violating statutes dealing with public decency.

Ellingsen claims the couple performed the surprise sex stunt during a set by the controversial band The Cumshots "actually to draw attention to the rain forests, which are in the process of disappearing."

The couple also runs a porno web site called "Fuck for Forest," which offers pornographic photos for money that they claim they donate to rain forest preservation groups. " We're idealists, call us 'environmental radicals,'" Ellingsen said. "Porn is just a means of reaching our goals."

The case now seems bound for court, since the couple is appealing their fines. Police also fined all five band members of The Cumshots the same amount, but it remained unclear whether they'd be accepted or appealed.

Festival organizers, who claim they knew nothing of the planned sex stunt, have avoided any punitive action so far. Festival chief Toffen Gunnufsen said he was irritated that he had to use so much time dealing with the matter.

"This is a music festival with more than a hundred concerts," he said. "That's where the focus should be." Among the headliners are Alicia Keys and Morrisey

Thanks for the tips on the supplements, they should come in handy.

Sustagen is a basic supplement high in iron and protein that is meant to provide the body with the extra additives needed when it is put under constant stress.

Creatine on the other hand happens to be commonly used by bodybuilders. It is produced naturally in the body in set amounts, and it is what allows muscles to operate at maximum capacity - and of course the more of this stuff your body has the longer you can go flat out.

I know quite a few Tasmanians living in Canberra now, it seems the public service is the way to go. I am not sure if the Fyshwick supermarket might be a better job for some of them.

well that's why the city was built, and hence what the town is all about. I am pretty sure Canberra has the highest average income for Australian capital cities, and along with that you get people who think they know better than everyone else and like to let you know about it.

Filthy's is by far my favourite out of those 3, but I only go there with mates, because the crowd at kingston is always the same and is less of the mingling type. Civic is the place to go if you want to meet people and see new faces.

Well, I have basically only described the inner south - which is the largest wealthy area, that also happens to surround the parliamentary triangle. As for Canberra in general, other than the city centre, there are 4 other town centres: Woden - which is only 15 minutes or so south of the centre of town, Tuggeranong - which is a further 30 minutes south of Woden, Belconnen - which is 30 mins northwest of the centre, and Gungahlin which is half an hour to the north. People of respective religions/ethnicities tend to live in the same areas, while each area also has its own niches of high wealth.

The areas looked down upon due to high levels of crime and so on are pretty much any agglomeration of public housing - notably the major 'ghetto' which is pretty much right in the heart of town on prime real estate , as well as the 'older' suburbs on the fringe of Canberra. It is quite trendy to buy a block of land either in the far north or deep south and build your own house, but the older suburbs which previously marked the edge of the town are being neglected and this brings in bad crowds.

The most trendy areas for young people to live are Kingston - which is the pretty much the only suburb around composed purely of appartments and townhouses (not more than 3-4 stories tall), and the inner city. Everywhere else, there is a mixture of families, old people, and single people alike.

Even though Queanbeyan is only around half an hours drive from Canberra city, it is actually a part of NSW, not ACT, although it is pretty much a 5th town centre to Canberra that wouldn't be around if it wasn't for the capital. Laws are slightly different, and that sort of thing, but Queanbeyan is a much more laid back country type area than Canberra - and this means that its population is less educated, less cultured, less accepting of other ethnicities, and more oriented towards drinking at the pub regularly, attending the horse/dog races, and various other activities 'country'. But it is also true that real estate is cheaper there, and so many people who work in Canberra live in Queanbeyan to cut back on living costs.

Queanbeyan is a rather depressing town, and is widely looked down upon by Canberrans which doesn't help it.

Canberra would probably be the most similar capital city in Australia to Hobart.

And like Hobart, there are often negative connotations associated with Canberra, about how boring it is etc. and how it's not a proper city because it has no high rise buildings. But you can get around on a bike rather easily - no need for the hassles of a car, tertiary education is solid, low unemployment, good sporting facilities, and the fine arts are catered for as well - if one is into that sort of thing.

From what I gather it seems harder to meet people in Canberra than it is in Hobart. Actually as for high rise buildings they are very strict about them, though there seems to be more going up now and that's not a good thing. The altitude in Canberra is a bit higher though, not that this is a bad thing, but it does have certain things going for it.

 @ the Canberran altitude... if only it was a few hundred metres higher, it would give me an edge over my competitors. :(

as for my trip next year, those plans are currently on hold. now that I'm playing tennis with Todd Larkham I think he still has a few things he can teach me, and after seeing the new crop of swimmers arrive at the AIS, it has made me think that had I not taken some time off I would have been in with a shot. Also I don't want to go over too early and disrupt my best mate's terminale bacc studies. I will likely go over for several weeks during the European summer to visit some people and possibly even compete at one of the national swimming championships, but I am yet to organise a more permanent displacement, although completing a 3 month course and starting uni in France is still a possiblity.

Well I wouldn't mind living in La Paz, then I wouldn't need EPO if I was training.

Which Larkham is it, that wanted to belt McEnroe? I mean John McEnroe is the kind of guy that needed a kicking for sure. Are you saying the new group isn't that good? I read something that the more has been focused on the girls when it comes to swimming? I am not sure about there seems to something lacking in the personality department when it comes to female swimmers.

Good luck with any of the decisions and always good to move around. You never know you might make it to Norway, though funny it was named the most boring capital in Scandinavia and it's true.

Thredbo has a nice complex, and thats where the Australian team was last week.

I am not sure which Larkham it was, but all I have to do is ask .

Australian swimming is in trouble in regards to its men's team. With Thorpe out, Hackett was the only medallist at the World Champs (besides Welsh in a non-Olympic event), while the women have improved out of sight over the past few years. There are a few mates of mine pushing to make the national squad, but they still have a long way to go before being able to challenge on the world stage - the european countries are getting into their swimming a lot more nowadays, as was evident at the recent world champs, and this means that AUS and US will have to react if they wish to maintain their domination in the sport.

Most of the institutes tend to reshape their squads after each Australian trials for world champs/olympics, which often means booting all the fringe swimmers who don't quite make the national squad. Besides the breastroker Brenton Rickard - who moved to Canberra from Melbourne last year, not one of the current AIS males will have any hope in making the Aussie team.

The AIS has been struggling severely since they remodelled their coaching lineup. It all started when they axed Gennadi Touretski (Popov + others' coach), then Barry Prime moved to victoria and Jim Fowlie to Canada, while another guy retired, and there you have 4 Olympic level coaches gone from a squad's support team. For years Petria Thomas was pretty much the only swimmer keeping respectibility in the AIS program.

The female swimmers do come across in the media as being quite boring, but to be fair, I find that they are just like any other group of girls. They keep to themselves a lot, work hard in the pool, and like to have a good time out of it - I was out at The Moose a few weeks ago with Alice Mills, Sarah Paton, Tarnee White, Felicity Galvez amongst others, and they were just like any other group of girls there, most people didn't even seem to recognise them.

I mean perhaps if JeNn made the Aussie team things would be different, but in regards to this one can only sit and wonder.

Oh and I thought it's worth adding how disgusting it was watching some of the other AIS athletes drinking themselves silly and even smoking  . These are people being funded by taxpayer's money to excel at their chosen sport, and here they are drinking - ok, lots of sportspeople do it but moderation is required, but smoking? I mean come on, how are these guys are going to achieve in sports which require a high level of fitness if they do this - by the way I am referring to a swimmer, waterpolo players and netballers. And it must also be said that many of the netballers are more keen on sleeping with the swimmers than putting the ball through the hole. Check with BG, but I don't think the AIS netballers won too many games this year.

As for Europe, I will have my Eurostar pass, and shall do my share of travelling, and Denmark and Norway will be on the agenda - providing the required finance is there for these cheap countries.

Thredbo has a nice complex, and thats where the Australian team was last week.

I have been there in the summer and it was fun climbing Australia's highest mountain, which isn't high. I was with a parapelegic and he wheeled up it, and this is one guy who likes a drop of alcohol.

As for the swimming thing, sport is cyclical for sure and I love how many of the elite sports schools were set up like the USSR or GDR models, it does work in some ways and not others, then again it depends on the individual. Wasn't there something recent about a swimming coach doing something a bit naughty?

Good point on the female thing, then again it's probably the same to any extent in any other major sport. It seems like I am going to have to go to the Moose, as this is where it's happening.

The smoking thing I find interesting, there seem to be a lot of tennis players that smoke, and now and then a good night on the juice is healthy, but the training should be strict and would only hurt themselves in the processes. I will ask BG about the AIS team, but leggy Liz loves a drink and she deserves a cheers, having a good time in the little island.

Let me know when you are going. There are certain tricks I can help you with in cutting down costs in these cheap places.

As for the swimming thing, sport is cyclical for sure and I love how many of the elite sports schools were set up like the USSR or GDR models, it does work in some ways and not others, then again it depends on the individual. Wasn't there something recent about a swimming coach doing something a bit naughty?

as for Aussie swimming coaches, Volkers and Thompson were up on charges, the former got off - the latter was charged, but both lost the respect of their peers, and I think they are possibly banned from coaching in Australia.

Good point on the female thing, then again it's probably the same to any extent in any other major sport. It seems like I am going to have to go to the Moose, as this is where it's happening.

Let loose in the Moose ;).

The smoking thing I find interesting, there seem to be a lot of tennis players that smoke, and now and then a good night on the juice is healthy, but the training should be strict and would only hurt themselves in the processes. I will ask BG about the AIS team, but leggy Liz loves a drink and she deserves a cheers, having a good time in the little island.

there was even a 400m runner I saw smoking... a shot putter or long jumped (ala Jai Taurima) I can understand somewhat, but not a guy who needs every mL of oxygen his lungs can inhale.

Let me know when you are going. There are certain tricks I can help you with in cutting down costs in these cheap places.

cheers, I'll let you know when the time comes.

I am not bad, have to go soon and write a speech about the future of European integration. I could almost do it off the cuff, but I need some reference points.

As for smoking, well some of my friends knew a lot of the top high jumpers when the high jump was a good event. The Swedish playboy Patrik Sjöberg was a shocker, he'd smoke a packet a day at least, then some of the other jumpers like Pedroso the long jumper liked his cigars. Quite a few tennis guys do it as well.

:woohoo:

I am a huge fan of the EU. Well of course forgetting restrictions on the CAP for new countries, in other words Polish farmers can't get it, as they need to protect French farmers. Trying to allow Turkey in the EU, might as well get Russia, Azerbaijan, Israel as well to join it.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Smoking, I have experienced the huge physical damages it can cause with my mother and believe me, I'm not close to touch a cigarette. So I can't imagine how sportsmen/or women can do it with their physical requirements!

I'm not the one who has a go at people on their birthday.

I'm not the one who is picking on people everyday.

I'm not the one editing people's posts to make it look like they were dissing themselves.

and deceiving people in order to make them feel sorry for you is a highly reputable act?

the same can be said for the incessant posting of :ras: and :retard: smilies, the promoting of the biggest arse clown on the atp tour, and the general posting of utter crap on this forum?

He's still going to post in my blog unncessary comments. So there's no point putting him on ignore.

Putting him on ignore is not going to solve the problems of him

a) posting shit in my blog
b) posting shit about me on this site.

It's just solving a problem for you, his mate.

It really isn't solving the problem of him stopping ripping into me, is it? No!

He'll still keep going day after day posting rubbish about me whilst I can't read his posts and it's never going to stop him posting rubbish about me and editing my posts when he makes a quote of them.

And that's what I'm getting at.

So no, I'm not putting him on ignore.

I want his fun of ripping into me and posting crap in my blog to stop.
