The Guyfromrussia.com posted that Marat will still be in his cast this week. Supposedly this is the last week.

Do you think he will try to make the Open, or will he withdraw at the last minute?

If the cast really doesn't come off before the end of the week I think he'll withdraw and as sad as it is it might really be the best decision *SIGH*

I think that he still has a lil hope and try`s everything to be able to play, so he will still wait a lil before withdrawing and may just withdraw at last minute. But it looks very unlikely that he will play, because the cast only comes off a few days before the open starts.  Of course it`s the best to not play then, if he is not 100% but it`s damm sad! :(

Why has this injury lingered all year? Can anyone answer that? And why hasn't Marat had wrist surgery like his childhood friend Anasasia Myskina did when she had wrist problems? And she's a WTA Top ten player now.

I hope Marat plays with his wrist taped up. Even if he only plays a match or two it will be worth it. This wrist injury is to his left wrist, which is his non serving wrist, so there is no way this should be a career threatening injury. But it has ruined Marat's 2003 season. :(

Whenever he hits his two-handed backhand he has unbelievable pain! And he can`t play without backhand ...

Can Marat learn a 1 handed backhand? It would be hard. But I think he could do it. Otherwise he should have surgery and have the wrist fixed once and for all.

Unfortunately I think he will withdraw at the last minute.
He doesn't get his cast off until Wednestday that gives him 5 days (depending on when he plays) to get himself ready to play the US Open.
(not to mention the doctors could make him wear it another week)

So unless he gets a very easy draw I don't believe he will play, and honestly even if he does play I can't imagine he would do all that well.
I can hope for the best...but realisticly this looks like another slam with Marat missing
The silver lining on the dark cloud is that whenever this stupid wrist heals I think Marat will be more focused and be ready to fight and will kick everyone's ass next year.

So he hasn't withdrawn yet? To play the US Open would be the most stupid thing he could pull out this year.

Btw, nice treatment of fans, Maratski :(

LOL, the cat, I think Maratski is a bit 'too old' to do that

Besides, his two-handed BH is a real gem (when in, that is :p)

Oh Vaiva! You scoffed at my idea. But Marat has to do something. This lingering left wrist injury is ruining his career. :(

It's not the first time for Maratski (I mean the unattended injury), is it, the cat? And we know he 'can' bounce back. But for how long? ;)

You say Marat has to do something. But what? It's not likely that he'll become a sound-minded professional tomorrow. I mean, I won't mind it indeed, but he seems to be unwilling to.

So all we, the miserable fans, can do is just hope that he'll strike a white patch in his career soon to be able to enjoy his success until he pulls out the next stupid trick :p

I haven't seen him play since AO so I've kinda gotten used to it even if it's still sad not to see him.

I hope he can at least defend his title in PAris

now the cast doesn't come off until the 25th and he will need 2 weeks of rehab after that before he can play again.....I know it was a longshot that he would play the USO...but....this is still depressing. :crying2: I wish that stupid wrist would just heal already!

  I know we all expected it, but at the end it`s still so depressing ...another GS to go without him playing :sad:

Well the good thing is that he will be okay soon and come back for Shanghai! (September 22)
