The Dusit Thani Appointed “Official Hotel” of Thailand Open

For the first time ever, a world ranking men’s professional tennis tournament sanctioned by the ATP Tour, Inc. will be held in Thailand.

It was announced today that The Dusit Thani has been chosen as the “Official Hotel” of the Thailand Open for the next five years. “We are honored to play host to the world’s top players during this prestigious event,” said Mr. Stanley Pao, General Manager of The Dusit Thani. “Our staff will extend their legendary Thai hospitality to make the players stay in the ‘City of Angels’ a most memorable experience. This is a very large-scale tournament and we expect over 70 players from North and Latin America, Europe, Asia and Australia competing in the Singles Main Draw, Doubles Main Draw and Singles Preliminaries,” added Mr. Pao.

As one of Bangkok’s foremost hotels with a comprehensive range of facilities for both business and holiday guests, The Dusit Thani will ensure that all necessary services for catering for professional tennis players are available including a “player service zone” located at the hotel’s ground floor.

“The Thailand Open highlights the government’s commitment to hosting great world-class events in Thailand,” said Mr. Chaiyapak Siriwat, Chairman of the Thailand Open Organizing Committee. “The whole nation is looking forward to welcoming all the players to the first ever Thailand Open,” he added.

“The Thailand Open will provide a spectacular nine days of the world’s most exciting tennis action to the public,” said Brian L. Marcar, Managing Director of tournament promoter and entertainment giant BEC-TERO Entertainment. “We are committed to building the Thailand Open into one of the best sporting events in this region. The participation of current French Open champion Juan Carlos Ferrero, red-hot Andy Roddick, former world #1 Carlos Moya and Thailand’s own Paradorn Srichaphan is a great step in this direction,” added Mr. Marcar.

The Thailand Open will be played at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani from 20 – 28 September, 2003.
