Nominate Your Funniest Post of 2005

Tried the search, couldn't find anything...and yes, it might be a bit early. But I've run across a few posts recently that just absolutely knocked my socks off and thought we ought to have a place to nominate such hilarities...and ultimately, have an MTF favorite: poll.

So, I'll take nominations from now until the beginning of the Masters on 10 November and will run the poll of the Top 10 (in my opinion).

Please give the link to some of the funniest posts you've seen. If they're in something other than English...please make some attempt at a translation. Doesn't have to be perfect but we'd like to get the drift of it too.

I'll start off with a nominee in the next post.

Poster: MisterQ

Context: A prior poster had stayed in bed and was bemoaning the fact that she'd missed an all important astronomy review. MisterQ, ever the competent professor, decided to help.

 How do I give the link to a single post? :silly:

There's a number on the top right hand corner of the post, when you click on it, a new page will open with just that post, you can then copy and paste the link.

Like this post is #10 on the top right hand corner.

Angle Queen
09-14-2005, 08:26 PM
In the upper right hand corner of the post, you'll see a # that's underlined (it's the link).

For example...your post is #9. If you click the link, it will open a new browser window with just that post. Steal the URL from there. Does that help?

Bad form adee, you don't nominate your own posts. I'll do it for you though, seeing as you were on the money about my verbosity in the midst of a crushing defeat to Mistaflava. I see from looking at the scores I lost by the biggest margin of any 1st round victim, I must be doing something right.

Its my speciality praising myself :p

Mistaflava was quite a generous draw, I think the Scoville Jenkins worshipping has made him a favourite for the title. I was rather concerned by the amount of votes I accumulated against the mighty ys.

Get your votes in for Round 2 my friend ;)

Sjengster

Do you hear me complaining about the draw? ;)

I'll get round to it, better to leave off my illuminating comments on each choice this time - it's a pain, and I'm already participating in a thread that's divisive enough without me trying to create even more strife.

But it would have been funnier if he really did have cancer, because then this would have been a horrible situation for you. And other people being in horrible situations is funny. Well, it would have been less funny from buddyholly's point of view.

There was a very known French comedian (Desproges) who had cancer and he made this famous joke : "Plus cancéreux que moi, tu meurs."
It's hard to translate, but in French, we have this expression "More + adjective than me you die", whose meaning is that "nobody is more + adjective than me".

The guy had a very black humour and used it on himself until the end (he died of cancer)

Patience, my children. There's plenty of time left in the year for something else to tickle your funny bone.

Bumping again...because we're getting dangerously close to the Masters...and it seems like the Fight Club has broken out. There bound to have been some funny ones in all of that.

If I get a haircut before Halloween I might dress up as Bjorn Borg to answer the door. No one would get it. They'd be like... why is this scary girl holding a tennis racquet, wearing tight shorts and wearing a headband. But maybe one of their parents would know, and I would feel fulfilled.

This is the funniest thing I have read or heard in my life. I was gasping for air by the second level. Tears were streaming down my face and people in my house thought I was going insane.

Ok, folks, well...I promised a year-ending vote...

I wonder how many withdrawals we'll have??!!??

Anyhow, I'm at home today, on dial-up, and can't do a good compilation. I'll put one together tomorrow...and we'll have til week's end to decide. So...there's still time for nominations if you have any!
