People said that Federer vs Santoro was one of the best matches they've seen in a long time and it was one of the best of the tournament, but that was a week ago. Haven't watched yet, how does it rank among all these others?

I think that Blake vs Nadal should also be on that list.

Outta those ones, I'd probably choose the final and Agassi vs Malisse. Didn't see most of them, though.

Yep, I forgot about these:

-1st Rnd: Muller def. Roddick
-2nd Rnd: Agassi def. Karlovic
-2nd Rnd: Federer def. Santoro
-3rd Rnd: Blake def. Nadal

Too bad I can't put more than 10 choices on the poll;)

There were really a lot of great matches this year, but the one that I probably won't forget for a while is the Sanguinetti vs Srichaphan match. I only saw the last set of that match, but that was already enough. Not only did both men saved some incredible points on their serve to get to the breaker, but some more insane points in the breaker.

The reaction from the players played a huge role too: Srichaphan lying on the ground then turns around and does a few push-ups; Sanguinetti and Srichaphan both kissing the net; lob shot on break point against Sanguinetti's serve or something, then Srichaphan attempts a backhand crosscourt backhand passing shot and that clipped the tape to go over the net to give him another break point, etc.

All in all I think that was the best match I have seen during this USO.

Agassi vs Blake-if only because it went down to the last point in a 5th set tiebreak! I was on the edge of my seat! That is the fun of watching live sports.

Fed vs Santoro was absolutely fabulous! :hearts: :inlove: From the list here I chose Sanguinetti-Srichaphan, at the start of the match I never thought that it would turn out such a spectacle with such an amazing atmosphere and friendly spirit. :)
As a biased person I also liked Nadal vs Jenkins. :D The Jenkins kid was really impressive. :yeah:

So many outstanding matches. I chose Agassi-Blake because of the closeness to the very end and the very high quality throughout. The only problem is that I was rooting for Blake.

Agassi/Blake for the drama of it all with that scoreline, Agassi coming back from behind again and again, even when Blake was serving for the match, and the incredible shotmaking from both players near the end.

But I loved the points in Santoro/Federer, and some of the tennis in Federer/Agassi was played on an insane level! :worship:

Personal favorite was Hewitt v. Dent, for obvious reasons.

For pure entertainment purposes, Muller v. Roddick, mostly because of how the commentators were acting, but also because of the look of increasing horror on Roddick's face for most of the match.

I can't comment on Blake v. Agassi, because I slept through almost everything except the first two sets.

id have to say the finals w/ andre and roger, because i was there last night i have never been so emotional in my life i mean after the match was over all of the crowd me to cheered so loud for him that he stood up and bowed( not sure how u spell) to all of us and silly me started to get a little teary eyed thinking wow this guy truly is amazing. Andre was staying at the same hotel as me and this morning as i was gettting ready to leave New York I saw his wife come out w/ there daughter. She actually seemed kinda happy.

I have more than one! Obviously AA v X was great. AA v Blake was fantastic. I kind of love Murray's first round match too (but I am a brit so what you expect) especially when he chucked over his opponents chair! For the womens Clijsters v Sharapova was very special. It's been a long time since any slam has had so many fantastic matches within the same tournament. My fave all tiem match was the semi between AA and Rafter at Wimbledon that went to 5 sets. Maybe AA v Blake could top that. Maybe. Anyway, I greatly admire AA, who doesn't. Wouldn't have classed him as one of my favourite players though, but suddenly realised all my fave matches have included him, so that tells me something.
Rumours going round he may not return to the US Open next year (I think he may quit after the Oz in Jan), but if he doesn't - Thanks Agassi for the memories!

Guga beating Goldstein in the first round - he hit 35 aces and was hitting tons of winners, and Goldstein was fighting really hard to get everything back. Plus it was probably the only time this year he looked like the old Guga. But that is mostly because I was there and had a great time.
