OMG!!!!!!!! Rainer's drop shots are BREATHTAKING! They are so outrageous. And those last two gets to finish the set STUNNED AGASSI!!!!!!! GO RAINER!!!!

Tennis Fool
08-09-2003, 12:55 AM
Drop-shotting Agassi, huh? Sounds like the acts of a desperate man...Agassi will roar back in the third.

Wish I had cable to see this on TV :(

lin
08-09-2003, 01:02 AM
come on Rainer !!! :D

martinatreue
08-09-2003, 01:06 AM

martinatreue
08-09-2003, 01:14 AM
Rainer leads 3-2!

martinatreue
08-09-2003, 01:22 AM
rainer breaks AGASSIHOLE and holds. Rainer leads 5-2!!!!!!!!!! :D

Rainer with twice as many winners as Andre. Rainer was totally totally nervous in the first set but even then Andre looked very very worried about getting tired. And guess what? Andre did get tired cuz started playing a great mix of defense and offense. he chased everything down, slapped winners, got tons of first serves back, slapped second serves, mixed up the pace a lot and made Agassi run and hit down the line

Tennis Fool
08-09-2003, 01:22 AM
On serve?

Tennis Fool
08-09-2003, 01:24 AM
Oh, nevermind.

What's wrong with Agassi to you?

Maybe he's tanking on purpose to conserve for the US Open...Didn't he reach this far last year

If Federer win this title, will he be No. 1

martinatreue
08-09-2003, 01:30 AM
RAINER SCHUETTLER defAndre Agassi 2-6, 6-2, 6-3

:bounce:

martinatreue
08-09-2003, 01:35 AM
what was wrong with Agassi is that he was VERY TIRED LOOKING. Very impatient in rallies. from the very fast point in the match he was telling himself "come on, come on" and looked very worried about Rainer's game. He knew that Rainer could beat him if Andre could not intimidate him. Rainer pulled himself together and stopped making stupid mistakes and prolonged the points mixing up angles and off pace shots and then going for the winner.

Rainer played very very smart tennis. :D

Tennis Fool
08-09-2003, 01:38 AM
No, I meant why don't you like Agassi...

Anyway, thanks for the play by play.

Sjengster
08-09-2003, 01:43 AM
LMAO, this should shut up all the people who say that Schuettler doesn't deserve to be in the Top 10 and in contention for Houston. Sweet, sweet revenge!

And to think, TBE will be furious because it was Schuettler who beat Agassi... even more hilarious. I did suspect as the match wore on that Agassi was getting fatigued, I was only following the score but he got broken three straight times in the second set and really didn't threaten Schuettler's serve much afterwards. So, all Federer has to do is defeat Roddick tomorrow to become no. 1...

martinatreue

agassi was acting pissy during the match for every little thing. he skips out on tournaments too much and in general I am sick of him and his overexposure.

he is pretty nice in interviews but I love to root against him and I am sure he is probably a good person but I don't know him. He is just a tennis player on TV to me and I like rooting against him. It's fun to see someone take it to him like Schuettler did today or Coria at the French or Mark at Wimby!!

Well, I guess I shouldn't waste any time in saying "Congrats Roger!" :worship: :worship:

Agassi self-destructed right after Lleyton, and Ferrero choked...

I wonder why Agassi is so tired? He hasn't played *that* much tennis, what one tourney since Wimby? He needs to get running up those LV hills again :o

Tennis Fool

Nalbandian v. Schuettler. Who would have thunk it

This match is a bit of tossup. They are tied 3-3 in their H2H, but Rainer has won their last two hardcourt matches.

I think he will have a letdown after Agassi, so I give the nod to David.

Eggy, Sjengster said you're going to react badly to Agassi losing. What's your beef with Schuettler?

Kazandra
08-09-2003, 04:00 AM
Wow! David's having a great run this week :D

I'd like to see him in the final but it will be awfully tough to get past Rainer if he's in Agassi-ousting form, not to mention that David has only beaten him on clay in the past. I remember their match in Oz this year and David just couldn't find a way through Rainer's defences and ended up spraying a lot of errors. Unless he's got some nifty new tactics I can see it going much the same way, so it's Schuettler for me.

(But, Go David! :D)

``Tennis in an interesting game. There can be a lot of reasons why you're not at your best in a given situation. Today, it had a lot to do with him.''
