No I think this year no bagels, but Roge wins again. hewitt is not playing well, and surprise that he has gone to 5 setter against Jarkoo and almost lost with Dent (Dent played very well)
But mentally, hewitt has not been in this situation with many players (only 1 or 2 players) and cannot pump himself up because it looks foolish to Comeon when you win few points here and there. That affects his game also

I think this one will be tighter than the previous matches if Hewitt comes out ready to play in the beginning. If not, then he will be beaten down like all the other times in the past two years.

In all seriousness, Fed has Hewitt's number so Fed will just do enough to get one break in each set.

To the ones who are talking smack, a fan is one that has followed Roger through 98, lets be honest, one likes rooting for a winner, and thats what Roger is, its like when Michael Jordan started winning championships.

 every player has bandwagoners, its a fact just because some people started fancying Rogers game later on in his career doesnt bother me. I loved him as the cute kid and I'd still do even if he stops winning he still has the most flashy game in the business, although Gasquet is quickly closing in.

Thats my point, and its sad, lets say that Gasquet started beating Federer out of nowhere, i would bet most of them would start switching

As for LLeyton, i know he is a heavy, heavy, underdog, but if he loses, its not a shocker, i will be rooting for him, come the next grand slam.

Chucho 2003 US Open against Fed, I fell in love with him :hearts:
Lleyton on the other hand most recently and mainly because he is treated like a bad guy, bleh bleh when all he really does is fight his heart out. I admire that a lot about him, although there are few times when I do root against him but very rare.

I will give my 2 cent on the match. When u watch these two play, its obsvious that Federer is the strongest.LLeyton doesnt have power to compete with Roger, the only thing he has is the speed and the defense.U can tell from the groundstrokes.I am hoping that Hewitt makes him earn it, i was upset at how he played last year, looks like he mentally gave up.

True, but that's true for all his matches (not the giving up part...). In my life, I have YET to see Lleyton overpower his opponents. He out-runs and out-hearts most of them. I always watch their matches though, and Lleyton always has a chance to send a set to a tiebreak or even win it (excluding the US 1st and 3rd set last year), but he seems to just dump the ball into the net on the big points against Fed. I just think that he confidence is very lacking against the guy. I think if he truly believed he could win, we would see a match more competetive than 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. But he doesn't. He gets to a crucial juncture, and lets down, as in the 2nd set tiebreak last year.

Chance: 1 in 10

Hewitt has heart and fight, and as long as he has that he has a chance. Every match is different, people tend to look at H2H because its a new day and match. As long as the winner of this match walks away with the title I'm happy.

seriously, if there's anyone who was anxiously looking forward to a Federer - HEWITT semi and are thrilled to have it, congrats to you, you get the "Liberal tennis fan of the last two years" award.

I only regret Nieminen couldnt make that semi coz Im sure it would've been much more interesting match up with Fed...yeah he could've lost 61 61 61 but the tennis would be different and you wouldnt know whats coming....

The day leyton mentally gives up, he will have very little game left. I have never heard of leyton giving up anywhere anytime, let alone a final of a slam. In fact, leyton is correctly reputed as having the strongest mentality of anyone on tour.

And mental give up will not explain first set bagel.

Fact is, he was outplayed by a player who played unreal that day, even by his own standards. Roge never played that well even in 3 W championship matches. And if you remember the last set, almost all leyton's service games were lost after deuce or at 30, not at zero. So the bagel of final set is bit deceptive

Yes he has given Dudi one at least.

And since breadsticks also come out of Chez Roge's bakery, his business is still running :)

None and hopefully no breadsticks or double-breadsticks either. Hopefully Hewitt can get at least as close as he did at Wimbeldon. I'm not sure why some people here really think that Hewitt has a 1:100 chance or worse... Lleyton played Wimbeldon coming off an absence from the courts and Fed beat him 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 I believe... And that is Roger's best surface. These hardcourts are Lleyton's best surface, and he played as good a 5th set vs. Nieminen as I've ever seen. I believe he had 15 winners and 2 unforced errors. I would be very surprised if he gets bageled or beadsticked or anything like that... I expect a Kiefer-like challenge.

I remember perfectly that final . Before that match i thought Hewitt had chances to beat Roger, but after that match i assumed Hewitt hasn't potential enought to beat the current Federer ( The old Federer was beatable by Lleyton , but the current not ).

I'm only saying that Federer isn't a good bagel-maker. Watching the statistics of this year he's out of top 40 bagel-makers ranking.

He has only got a bagel this season so far

Turkeyballs Paco

What's kind of scary is Hewitt made it all the way to the final last year without dropping a set. This year is a different story. Hopefully he'll bring his fighting spirit tomorrow!

Everyone complains Federer is going to blow him out, as if that's ultimately a reason Hewitt shouldn't be in the semi or final against him. Hewitt's in the top 5, and consistently wins every match he's expected to win, so why complain? Tell me which players are expected to win against Federer? Lots of promising matches turned into lackluster blowouts against Federer. If it's a Fed/Agassi final, that will too. Lots of players have that one person they can't beat, and for many of them, it's Federer. Looking at the scoreline, I think Hewitt did better seeded 3rd or 4th in Wimbledon against Federer than Roddick did, seeded 2nd.
