Blake is playing the way Federer plays, just a tad bit faster and more aggressive. So Agassi has to slow down the tempo of the game and try to construct his points better instead of the crosscourt crap he is prone to, or trying to overpower Blake because it wont work.

I agree with you, but I am not seeing the similarity with Fed

Blake is pressuring Agassi with the forehand, which Federer does. He is hanging well in the backhand rallies which Federer does, but Blake is even more aggressive on the backhand especially on second serves, which has left Agassi confounded. He is serving well, another thing which Federer does, but he is playing much faster and he is quicker. Now, if only Agassi will slow down the tempo, he will get back in the game but he is trying to play too fast for his own good and to overpower Blake. That's not gonna cut it.

Obviously, there are some differences, especially because Federer implements the slice more and has a more spin on his shots, instead of the flat shots by Blake. Some sections of their strategies against Agassi is similar. Blake is just not allowing Agassi to settle into the match.

What game are you guys watching?

"Zen Master" who is said to be able to hit lines AT WILL in practice, is blowing Unforced and Forced ERRORS left and right.... And I've always said Andre needs to have a 2:1 Winner-UR ratio to have a chance against good players playing well.

Blake is playing well, no question, but Agassi is awful - all things considered. If Andre of 2004 USO would have met Andre of 2005 USO, the '04 one would have whooped him worse than Blake is doing now.

I can't agree with you I think. Yes, Federer puts pressure on Agassi with his forehand, but he keeps exchanging normal balls with Agassi most of time and then, when Agassi hits a slower and\or, high and\or shorter ball in his forehand, Roger attacks him, but Blake is attacking him all the time, and as you said the today game is much faster and there isn't pace variation, Blake is attacking agassi in his second serve. Basically you said all the reasons why I say that this match is very different from Agassi vs Federer. :)

Is Agassi just plain flat or what? Well I guess huge forehand Blake is killing him isnt he? Here I go again, Blake and Ginepri might well make the final, oh sure they've never even been close to getting past the quarterfinals, so what happened now? I told some of you peeps they were dangerous.

Anyway it seems like Agassi cant manage to hit a more healthy dose of winners to unforced errors and thats just costly against a hot Blake.

Agassi is back into the match because Blake cooled down, not because Agassi did anything special. All of a sudden, Blake begins to miss first serves and wait too much to strike his forehand, which he was initially striking on first bounce. If Blake loses this match, he will have himself to blame. The match depends completely on him.

What a great fan.

I don't appreacite blatant choke-jobs from my idols.

Federer the Genius outplaying Andre is one thing.... but to shoot himself in the foot like Andre did tonight in the first 2 sets.... He lost the match right there.

Where have Blake's first serves gone to? To neverneverland?

I think the pressure is getting to him. If it does go 5, he needs to get that back up near 60% or Agassi will run away with this match. Blake was playing so well until 6-3, 6-3, 3-2 up a break. He faltered a little, Andre started playing really well and now we have a match.

Blake was controlling points off of both the FH and BH in the first two sets and a half. Now he has lost confidence in the BH, is hitting it defensively and Agassi is taking advantage by hitting some penetrating groundstrokes to his Bh and keeping him pinned there. Blake is going to have to serve out of his mind to win this last set.

AgassiFan
09-08-2005, 04:29 AM
See what happens when Andre's Winner-Unforced Error is not out of whack....

Play clean tennis, Old stuff, and MAKE BLAKE EARN EVERYTHING.

But I don't think you have anything left in you, Andre... You shouldn't have played so horrinle in the first 2 sets today - or the middle 2 sets against Malisse for that matter. Wasted TOO much energy, and put yourself into TOO big a hole to crawl out from...
