Guille had him beat and blew it. :smash: And after battling to save all those match points to lose on a double fault..... argh!

Awesome match though, good luck to Ginepri in the semifinals. (he's gonna need it!)

Guille played 5 outrageously good points to save the match points. And then he undoes 3 hours of hard work with consecutive double faults to lose the match. So disappointing :fiery:

Wow. Coria played fantastic tennis on those first few match points. Too bad about that serve.

Congrats to Ginepri.

What's wrong with his service???? He's been doing it in a great way during the whole year, and in the last two matches it sucked big time
It was still a very good tournament, and he played a good match, in spite of his service.
Congrats to Ginepri :yeah:

Unbelievable match! Robby is killing me, but I still love him-LOL!! Would love to see a Ginepri-Blake match! Then I can just relax and enjoy the tennis, as I would be happy to see either of them win.

Amazing stuff! I can't believe Ginepri has made a slam SF. He sure as heck deserves it. What an improbable run for him this summer.

An American finalist, guaranteed then. The final is being held on September 11, so it would be fitting if an American wins the title.

Congratulations to Ginepri, that is the second straight match where he wins against opponents with superior shot making. It is also his 1st slam semifinal, i never expected him to reach this stage. Coria should have won this in 4 sets but he did not and Ginepri got his chances when he could.

i like how everyone says guille lost it! why does no one admit that robby did well not to give up! i love robby but i honestly thought he was a gonna in that 5th set but he fought back and didn't give up! that says alot for his character! it doesn't mean guille was bad. guillle could have collapsed when robby won the 2nd and 3rd set but didn't! both players were amazing. and both fought it was bound to be a tight match and i am very proud of robby winning! funny how everyone is suddenly a robby fan now though

Robbys been working on his fitness so much taht 5 setters are not too much of a bother to him now but he did look tired brifly in the 5th set but then the adrenaline(sp?) seemed to kick in and he was back with it! if he gets james in the semi that would be a hell of a match!

it would be great if it were a blake-ginepri semi. although the winner there might become jittery in their first slam final.

that gives the edge to the finalist from the top half since it would become either hewitt or fed (most likely fed) who both have a lot of slam final experience to conquer any nerves...

actually it could be the only way to stop fed from storming again! I certainly hope so! i think James would be more nervous than Robby but i think either would put up a hell of a fight against him. BUt has everyone forgotten about andre already?

megadeth
09-08-2005, 01:30 AM
i haven't forgotten andre. but considering his trend lately when playing a match after surviving a 5 setter, it might be hard.

i really can't tell right now who's gonna win, both blake and andre have a great storyline for the USO.,,

Éowyn

Ginepri deserves to be in the semis and while Coria should have won this match, he wasn't good enough when it counted and serving 2 double faults in a row is not a fitting way to end such a close match, though in a way I'd rather that than the 5th set tiebreaker, which is a shit rule.

What the fuck is with coria and his double faulting, i watched the 3rd set in a bar before it closed. Coria was looking like he will take the set easily, but all those double faults were awful

Coria has been inconsistent with his serve and easy errors ,it was obvious in his last match against Massu..he talked about a nerve inflammation or so in his right hand which was giving him trouble all above his arm too..and whether this was the complete truth or not , the truth that he had more than a chance to get the lead , but unfortunately he missed , his biggest defects i believe (though i 've been saying it a lot) he lacks confidence when he 's near winning, he plays better under defeat threats and the minute things brightens for him , he gets nervous..
yesterday i was thinking Coria can be accused of intentional murder, he's brilliant at giving his fans heart attacks..but unfortunately i still believe he has a lot of talent ,and mental tactics which changed his situation in the last 1 and half sets after Ginepri forced him to run like an idiot for three sets..he saved energy and played (i think )his best in the fourth set ..but then again comes his fear of winning when it mattered..so '
if anyone is still gonna be a fan of Coria, and 'll still be alive, then u just have to take the guy as he is..
and also good credits for Ginepri , the guy was more stable and consistent when it really mattered.. :yeah:

Pretty good match, I have to say. Weasel did well to say those 5 MPs, but had those 2 DFs... :smash:

It was great to see Weasel so gracious. He initiated a high five after that great point with the two drop-shotting each other, and on another point, said "bueno" when Ginepri hit a BH DTL winner. I was quite shocked, after what happened with Massu.
