Not able to watch (is anyone here seeing it). Coria took the 1st set, but is now down two breaks in the second.

I feel a bagel coming on.

No butter. ;)

HUGE CONGRATS TO GINEPRI!! :worship:
Unbelievable his run in this tournament and at the end he was the tougher player who rallied back and who had chances and chances again and finally he got rewarded for working out there and believing in his next chance.

Before the match, I'd never thought Coria would lose this, but should have carried home the third set, which he didn't and Ginepri showed some really good and mature play.

As for Coria, it was a good showing for him as well. Just a pity he had to lose the match like that and he was in the better position but didn't win at the end. Still it's a Quarterfinal for him and he clearly showed that he is the best Argentine player along with Nalbandian on this surface.

I wish people wouldn't call Robby "lucky". Coria is my favourite player, I spent the last two sets either clapping and fist pumping or flaring at the television. If he could hold serve when it mattered, he'd be in the semifinal. If he ever gets an opportunity like this again, I will be surprised. Robby, unlike Coria, doesn't double fault 600 times when it matters most. That isn't luck.

Give him more credit?

Coria will probably make another USO QF. He probably won't get to another one where he will get to play somebody Ginepri's calibre, rather than a Hewitt, Fed, Roddick, etc. Don't get me wrong - Ginepri was clearly a quality opponent and deserves all the credit in the world for turning his results around. But that doesn't change the fact this was a HUGE oppontunity for Coria, and I will be very surprised if one like this comes along again.

Coria has a chance to go far at every tournament, but at the end of the day... he's an alsoran. But that's okay!

Yeah, it wasn't Robby working his tail off earlier this summer in the heat and humidity of Florida to get in shape, it was some guy name Luck.

Robby earned this, and Coria made him earn it. They both played a good match, but Coria buckled under all those match points instead of Robby. Next time, it could go the other way. I'd love to see them play each other again.

he is already in the top 3 in the world on clay in my opinion. he is 23 years old with 9 titles to his name. that in itself is enough i think for him to be described as better than an alsoran. and one day he will win the french!!

i didn't realise alsoran means anyone who hasn't won a slam by the age of 23.

I didn't call him an alsoran simply because he hasn't won a slam, but thanks for like, making up the conversation. I truly enjoy discussions where I don't have to say anything at all, because my stance on the matter has already been assumed :retard:

Oh, and thanks for the stats. Next thing you know, you're going to tell me that he was born in January 1982.

Coria could win RG, but he will have to avoid Federer to do so. If he does, I will be thrilled. But I think his time may have come and gone. The more matches like this that he loses, the greater those psychological scars will be. He has the game, and I used to think he had the mind. I don't think so anymore.

i hate to say this cuz this means that i am still his fan despite what he does  ..but , i won't have the same surprise if he comes to advanced rounds not only on US open but on other GS..the way he played and the way he used his brains to save his energy and gain other 1 and a half set after the pathetic way he played in the first three sets..indicates he's got a lot more to show in mental tactics and in talents not just speed..he seemed like he would die in the third set cuz Ginepri was making him running like an idiot for unimportant points..but he succeeded in changing that in the fourth set ..

the minuses againnnnn :are the way he rushes for winning..it makes him nervous and the most dangerous thing was his uncountable and unforgivable errors when he was supposed to be in control..i don't see him as number one, but if only he works on these defects, he would show us his real abilites..and he can have real chances

Honey, just because you (claim that you) are a psychiatrist, that does not mean you are more intelligent and say, the person who pumps your gas. There are a number of factors that determine where you end up in life, and intelligence is only one of them.

To be honest, I thought that Coria would win this in 3 or 4 sets. All credit goes to Ginepri. I think peole haven't realized yet that this Ginerpi that is palying at the 2005 USO is a really good player. How long it lasts only time will tell. I couldn't believe that Roddick lost to him in INdy but when you see his game, he has actually become a quality player.

As for Coria, he had a golden opportunity to get to a slam SF. There will be other opportunities.

Coria said he had been having problems with the nerve in his right hand and wasn't able to grip the racket hard.

``I was losing feeling on the hand,'' Coria said in Spanish while motioning with his right pinkie. ``It has been happening for four days.

``I had a lot of treatment ... but during the match, the more I serve, the more it gets tight -- the forearm, the shoulder. I knew it could happen. That's just the way it is.''

Coria, who missed last year's Open because of a shoulder injury that needed surgery, said he was worn out by his five-set victory over Massu two days earlier -- at 4 hours, 32 minutes the longest match of the tournament.

``It was a tough break that the match with Massu was so long,'' Coria said. ``My whole body was hurting. It was hard to keep up the same speed I had. But I gave it all -- ran, tried hard and gave it all I could. He won because he deserved it. He's been waiting for a moment like this for a long time.''
