Thomas Enqvist & Robby Ginepri Receive Wild Cards Into Western & Southern
Financial Group MASTERS

Former singles champion Thomas Enqvist of Sweden and rising young American Robby Ginepri have claimed the final two wild cards into the singles field for the 2003 Western & Southern Financial Group MASTERS.

In 2000, Enqvist defeated Great Britain's Tim Henman in the final to become
the seventh Swedish player in the history of the tournament to win the
title. Enqvist also reached the semifinals in 1995 and 1996, and since
first appearing here in 1994 has amassed a 19-7 singles record (.731).

Ginepri is making his second straight appearance here. He had the
misfortune of drawing world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt in the first round last
year, but this year the former Georgia resident comes to Mason in the
middle of his best season as a pro. He has reached the quarterfinals of two
Tennis Masters Series events (Indian Wells & Miami) and on July 13 he won
his first professional singles title (Newport). He's also reached the
quarterfinals at two International Series events (Memphis & Indianapolis).

With Enqvist in the field, the tournament will have five former champions
in the draw: Andre Agassi (1995 & 1996), Michael Chang (1993 & 1994),
Gustavo Kuerten (2001), Enqvist (2000) and defending champion Carlos Moya.

"Enqvist has had considerable success here and, as a former champion, we're
very pleased to have in the field," said tournament chairman Paul Flory.
"We're also excited to have Ginepri in the draw as he looks to be a
promising young American."

The tournament already has given main draw wild cards to Michael Chang and
Todd Martin. Chang is a two-time singles champion and four-time finalist
who will be making his 16th and final appearance here, and Martin is a
former singles quarterfinalist and the defending doubles champion (along
with James Blake).

The draw will be determined at the main draw ceremony, scheduled for 4:30
p.m. on Friday, August 8, in Mason.

The qualifier tournament for the main draw will be held August 9 and 10.
Eight players who win two matches in the 32-man qualifier tournament will
be added to the main draw.

The Seniors portion of the tournament will be held August 7-9 during the
evening sessions.

Bagel Boy=player who has never beaten a rival (a quality player) in 3 or more tries.

Malisse is 0/7 against Roddick
Roddick is 0/4 (about to be 5) against Federer
Ferrero was 0/6 against El Aynaoui until he beat him in Montreal. Now he's 1/6 and no longer a Bagel Boy.

Also a nice euphemism for "player's bitch" ;)
