Spoke to Niclas Larsson today... about wheelchair tennis, and ATP tennis. He's another big fan of PimPim :) And... he was saying that Jonas just doesn't seem anywhere near as confident these last few months (remember how Jonas got injured at the US Open and continued to play ordinary tennis for the majority of the year?), which is a real shame. Kom igen Jonas ;)

Ahh.... Jonas losing all these matches is a bit depressing. Even if some are against good players or whatever, it sucks.

He's the only one of my "real" favourites still playing, and one of the rare few who still serve volley....

A quiet weekend

Woke up feeling beaten up yesterday after my loss to Sjeng Schalken in Milan. Strange, considering that the match was over before it started (6-2, 6-2)...! But I´m still not well or have my usual energy, so therefor I have decided not to play in Marseille next week. A difficult decision since I have a semi final from 2004 to defend. This way I will lose important ranking points. But I just have to get fully recovered now. No training at all this weekend, just a cosy and quiet weekend with my family in Monte Carlo. Hopefully I will be better next week so that I can go to Memphis on Thursday or Friday.

Jonas vs Jurgen!
Bring it on!!!!!!

Then again... Jurgen vs a leftie... I don't like that Idea. Maybe Jurgen will be at Jonas' match  After all, Jurgens coach (Karl-Heinz Wetter) also coaches Irakli Labadze. Hopefully Jonas can keep his cool, and Irakli will just self destruct as I have seen before

On pure inspiration

After resting completely for one week, being tired and sick for a long period of time before that, I started training again this weekend - and everything felt surprisingly good! I am playing against Irakli Labadze and doubles with Max Mirnyi today, Tuesday, and I can´t wait to get started again! I think it will take me another couple of weeks to get in complete balance again, but I will play on pure inspiration now and see how far that can take me. It feels great just to be back!

Is it just me, or is Jonas struggling to win finals? He had quite a lot of runner up finishes last year as well...

Damm: "This is the best tennis we played all week, in fact as a pair, this is the best we've ever played. We put pressure on them from the first point and it was great to play doubles before the singles final, as the stadium was full and a great atmosphere. It is my 31st title and it's great to keep winning tournaments."

Stepanek: "We've played seven tournaments together and tonight's match was the best we've ever played. Out of the seven times we've played, we have now won four titles and one semi-final and if we get the chance, I'd love to play more with Martin."

Thanks to my place in the final in Dubai this weekend, I am now ranked as the world´s best individual doubles player. Great, I will bring that with me to France!

Close in Dubai
Fabrice Santoro and I lost 2-6, 4-6 the final in Dubai on Sunday against Martin Damm and Radek Stepanek. They played well and we didn´t quite manage to get into the match. But my form seems to be good, which is important considering the Davis Cup match against France later this week.

Davis Cup against France

Simon Aspelin and I, and Thomas and Pim-Pim Johansson, will form the team against France in Davis Cup which starts tomorrow with the singles.
France is absolutely the favorites, but this is our best possible team on clay, even if it would be slightly incorrect to call any of us "king of the clay". But Pim-Pim, for instance, is very difficult to meet on any surface. A player that does 50 aces in some matches can blow anyone off the court. Everybody who faces Pim-Pim does it with respect, if not fear.
Thomas Johansson has also been looking good on practice. He hits the ball well and has a great confidence after winning a lot of matches lately. I think our team in general has a better confidence than the French. As you know, Pim-Pim has also made great results lately.
The clay is rather slow, but the serve is much more of a weapon indoors on clay than outdoors.
Simon Aspelin and I has been practicing together three times this week, and we will play more this evening, when we also will sit down and talk about our strategy for our match on Saturday. It feels good. We are talking the same language, so to speak. He is powerful and hits hard, and I will show off my technical skills...

The field for the USTA Tallahassee Challenger includes the world's top doubles player, a two-time Grand Slam mixed doubles champion and a former top 20 singles player are scheduled to appear.

Jonas Bjorkman, Justin Gimelstob and Jan-Michael Gambill headline the field for the April2-9 event, which will be held on the hard courts at Forestmeadows after a five-year run at Florida State's Scott Speicher Tennis Center.

Bjorkman has won the last three Wimbledon doubles finals. The world's top-ranked doubles player, has won 37 doubles titles (including five Grand Slams) and five singles titles in his career, earning more than $11 million.

No double trouble

Max Mirnyi and I are playing really well right now, making few mistakes. We reached the semi final in Indian Wells, and we are in the semis again in Miami, after beating Todd Woodbridge and Mahesh Bhupathi yesterday in our first match against each other since Max stopped playing together with Mahesh and I stopped playing with Todd.

Shaq rules

It´s great to have the family with me here in the USA, first in Indian Wells and now in Miami. We´ve been doing family stuff Max, Petra, and I when we´ve had time together: going to the Sea Aquarium, Parrot Island - and a NBA game! We got great tickets to Miami Heat against Phoenix Suns, two of the best teams in the league. Great, great fun! Shaq O´Neal rules.

2005-04-01
Better and better

The last few weeks I´ve finally been able to catch up on my form, and I have been playing better and better, putting pressure on top 10 ranked players. I forced Nalbandian to a decisive third set in Indian Wells, and repeated that against Tommy Robredo in Miami in a macth I should have won. I won the first set and had nine break points against Robredo in the second set. But the most important fact is that I feel that I am "back on track" again after a long time of injuries, sickness and so on. And that feels great!

Cold in the heat

I have catched an old fashioned grumpy cold here in Miami. Easy to see why - 93 % humidity and 30 degrees celsius. But hey, you get a really nice tan in that kind of weather...!

NASDAQ-100 Open
Miami, Florida, U.S.A.

April 2, 2005 - Bjorkman-Mirnyi Capture First Title in Miami

Third seeds Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi captured their first title together after defeating defending champions Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett 6-1, 6-2 in the final of the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami.

Bjorkman and Mirnyi took just 56 minutes to win the title, the first in Miami for Bjorkman and the second for Mirnyi, who won the doubles title with Roger Federer in 2003. Bjorkman was twice a runner-up at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park with Todd Woodbridge (2001, 2004).

It was the 38th career doubles for Bjorkman and the 21st for Mirnyi.

Black-Ullyett, the reigning Australian Open champions, were looking to claim their second title of the year. They also were attempting to become the first pair to successfully defend the Miami title since Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde won three consecutive titles between 1995-97.

Black was looking to claim his third title in Miami, having won with Sandon Stolle in 1999 and Ullyett last year.

WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID:
Mirnyi: "I guess it's a confirmation, a reassurance of us being somewhat a prominent team. It's good to be playing well and have good expectations, but it's the other thing of winning a major title like this one. So we've known each other for such a long time, but it's finally good to win one together.

Bjorkman: "It's sweet. Obviously, you always want to win every tournament, and I never won here before. Last year was the third time I was a runner?up, so obviously I was disappointed when I couldn't get through. So it's always sweet when you finally get a tournament like this one. This is a major tournament you want to win, so it's an extra special feeling, sort of.

"We got off to a good start. I mean, Kev and Wayne are having a good start of the year, so they've had a lot of confidence; we knew that. But they're a tough team, because they're very good front?runners. So we knew we had to sort of be sharp from the beginning. We got that first break, which was important, and then from that on we saw the ball very clear today. We didn't make too many unforced errors, and played very solid in our service games. So everything sort of clicked. Put all the things together well today and took advantage of our chances."

Hello.

I have given myself...an intervention, of sorts.
Today I got to the boxes containing videos. So, I wanted to sort through them to make sure they were labelled correctly. (When it comes to Tennis, everything has to be organised). I saw Davis Cup matches I hadn't seen in ages... I saw matches from Aus Open finals and semifinals. I also saw Jonas vs Hewitt, 2001 first round aus open. It reminded me why he got me into tennis in the first place...and as much as I adore Jürgen, I think I'll stick by Jonas a bit more than I have lately :D

I got so excited, seeing those tapes...seeing Petra in the crowd, jumping up and down, hugging people around her whenever he won & taking photos  I hope it happens again in future :)

I also found the hopman cup match between Canada and australia from...maybe a year back? I don't know how it got there. I don't specifically try to get Hewitt on tape, it just works out that way

Could someone please translate this if it says anything important? It's from Jonas' website but he only wrote in Swedish  (8th April)

Sundsvall följer Gefle ner i Superettan.

Så här går det (nån som vågar sätta emot...?):

1. Hammarby
2. IFK Göteborg
3. Malmö FF
4. Örgryte IS
5. Helsingborgs IF
6. Djurgården
7. Halmstad BK
8. Kalmar FF
9. BK Häcken

Here´s the translation from Jonas website. I think it is not that exciting, but here it comes:

Hi everyone!

Happy times with lots of speculations before the Swedish soccer league finally will start on the weekend. When I flew back from Florida to Monte Carlo I decided to make a tipp about how the Swedish soccer league will finish this year. Bajen (his favourite team Hammarby) will win, of course.
This is my team, but I think, trying to be objective, that they will have good chances. All the young players can play the whole season this year, because they are one year older and have more routin. I think Zoran Lukic will play much better for Djurgården than he did for Örgryte and what many people thought. And Assyriska will also manage this. They have to qualify against Örebro, but will stay there. Sundsvall will follow Gefle to "Superettan."

Like this it will go in my eyes (someone who wants to tip against???)

Then he is naming all the teams.

Take care and talk to you soon!

Latest news from our guy!!!

2005-04-26
No. 1 int the world!
It is not good that I have slided down to 105th place on the singles ranking this week. Have to do something about that soon, for sure. But this is much better - this week I became ranked as the worlds best individual doubles player! This is the 47th week that I am ranked as best in the world, which places me in a total 9th place since 1983. Mark Knowles is second, Max Mirnyi 6th, and fellow Swede Simon Aspelin is 19th.
2005-04-26
Stepping up
Did just some running last week, didn´t play any tennis. Before that I had 10 intensive weeks on tour, and from Rome this weekend I will go into another tough ten-week-period, so I think it was the right thing to do to take it easy and rebuild my strength. My physical trainer Daniel Hedin is in Monte Carlo this week, pushing me to train harder before going to Rome on Friday. I will play both singles and doubles.

2005-04-13
Clay schedule
Bad weather has caused some trouble in Monte Carlo, but it looks like Max Mirnyi and I will play in the second round today, Wednesday. After this tournament I will train for two weeks in Monte Carlo, before going on to Rome, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Paris.

2005-04-13
Double victories
My favorite hockey team Leksand advanced to the top division, and my favorite football team Hammarby won their season opening game. A great week so far!

2005-04-05
Great Swedish times
It is a great, exciting time of the year in Sweden now. My favorite hockey team Leksand is in top of the table in the qualification for a place in the elite league, and my favorite football team Hammarby has been looking sensationally good in the pre season. The football season kicks off this weekend, and after that it is an open road to the gold medals! I spend almost as much time on the phone and the Internet to check the latest results and rumours as I do on the tennis court now... It is great times indeed!

:haha:

2005-04-05
Movin´ on up
After a string of good results and the victory in Miami this weekend, Max Mirnyi and I have advanced to second place in the doubles ranking. Max is moving fast. He has climbed five positions to fourth place in the individual double players ranking.

I would be seriously pi$$ed if he lost that one :o WTF am I going to do if Jonas actually qualifies, and has to play Jürgen in the first round!? I want Jurgen to play someone crap, but not Jonas. That would require me possibly ditching Jurgen! (Its ok, I told him this would happen :tape: )

I've gotta get to bed. 1.20am, and I leave for work at 10am. I will probably go and daydream / try hard to dream about err 'tennis friend' for a good 20-30 minutes while I play Il Divo / Russell Watson. OMG I'm so romantic and he's not even my boyfriend. yet.

Jonas has to beat Hanescu first. To be honest it will be almost
impossible. He played so well in Monte Carlo. Anyway Kom Igen Bjösse.

THANK YOU HANESCU :scared:

ok, You know I love Jonas. Really. BUT.... Hanescu now plays Jurgen in the first round. Hanescu has saved me from a terrible situation, and I still feel bad for him when Sanguinetti abused him in their doubles match a couple of years ago

Close in Rome
I am content with my week in Rome. Clay is, as you know, not quite my cup of tea, but I played two really good singles matches, and I was very close to reaching the final together with Max Mirnyi in the doubles. We lost to Bob and Mike Bryan in the semi final, 3-6, 6-4, 2-6. They took their changes in a few decisive points, while we didn´t. It was close, and I think that we would have had a good chance against
Llodra and Santoro in the final, but we will do our best to correct that this week in Hamburg instead!

New section on my site!
I will create another new section on the web site this week. Under "Personal", the new headline "Top 5" will appear, where I will pick my five favourites in different categories, from movies and restaurants to fashion brands and locker rooms. My first five choices
is my favourite hotels around the world. Check it in! (<<Isnt that the cutest typo!)

I am quite confident that Jonas and Max will go long in Hamburg this week.

I saw parts of the match against Friedl / Levinsky and they played very good.
But I had to leave earlier, cos Gaston was playing almost at the same time :o

haha yeah I get the impression that Gaston is a bit of a dag... similar to the way Jonas can be daggy, but it's cool, because it suits their personality. (HAHA! I stayed at pimpims match while Jonas' was playing :tape: but...pimpim was playing Popp. LOL! DAMMIT Joachim! Why do you have to be so good on non-clay surfaces!?)

Yepp, they have won the doubles in Hamburg (Jonas/Max), but today
Jonas/Thomas lost in 3 sets against Ventura/Robredo.
The Swedes won the 1st set and it was a very nice match, but finally they lost...I still cannot understand why
