I'm really disappointed in Malisse today, i thought he'd do better than this against Andre.

I reckon this will be an Agassi straight sets win unfortunatley...

Anyone agree or does anyone see Malisse winning this in 5??

Edit: Yay nice 5 setter...boring for the neutral watchers though

Can someone explain to Baldy the CRUCIAL role his 1st serves play in his ability to dictate pace, without which he will never beat good players...

His counter-punching leave much to be desired as well. How many passing shot does he have off the backhand side the ENTIRE match? 1 or 2?

He's lucky Malisse was playing like shit in the first 2 sets... and if Andre doesn't pick up his game in the 4th, he will get blown off the court.

Malisse was too intimidated in the first two sets.

Big question for X-Man: can he keep up his good level. Stay focussed!

At times I swear to myself I will never watch another Malisse match because he frustrates me so much, you never know what you will get with him, but somehow I continued to watch his match against Youzny and now for some reason I kept watching and can you believe it, this is the first set he's ever won against Agassi.
On talent alone, Malisse should be in the top20 and the highest ranked Belgian but he has such a bad attitude...

In the next-to-last game of the match, Agassi served brilliantly.
In the last game of the match, Agassi defended brilliantly.

Unforunately, for most of the match, he didn't do, either. So now, he is tired having to play 2 extra sets against Malisse than needed to, and Blake/Coria will absolutely drain him...

So IF he survives to face Federer in the Final, Fed will kill him 6-2, 6-1, 6-4.

What a terrifitc match. Agassi controlled the points and had the X-man running from the start so that prevented him from taking cracks. Agassi slowed down, didn't move the ball around and the X-man showed his talent with tremendous shotmaking. AGassi lifted his game in the5th set when it looked like the old man was tired. He wasn't moving at all in the 4th. One wonders how much he will have left for Blake/Robredo?

Did any American reporter ask Andre after the match how does he feel after Malisse exposed his weaknesses? ;)

The guy who exposed Agassi's weakness was Coria at 2003 Rolan Garros Qaurters. Andre was coming off a dominant hard-court season, Coria was very tired, Andre lucked out with the 1st set... and then Coria methodically exposed Andre's weak spots. Ferrero built on that at 2003 USO Semis, and it was downhill from there....

I think Xavier should have tried to come out a little more aggressive from the very start until the very end, though he was probably tired in that fifth set. I honestly think he could have beaten Andre today, it's just that little extra mentally more dominant/aggressive step forwards. But I'm very happy he managed to take 2 sets off Andre! You should be proud of yourself Xavier :yeah: :)

I think Agassi was playing really good in first 2 sets then he started to make mistakes and double faults. The third sets was really excited to see, Malisse made his come back but in fifth Agassi made his last word.
Even though, Malisse was serving so well, 26 or 27 aces in total.

Congratulation to Agassi! You're always great to watch....
