Guga in US Open

Let's cheer for Guga here!!

I don't know the form of Guga since he didn't play on hard court at all. Hopefully, Paul Goldstein is not much better.

I almost forgot about his match, I feel I haven't seen him in a decade:sad: On UOL they say Guga has a plan, will play as he has nothing to lose and will go for his shots. Guga didn't talk about any injury or stomach problem, said he knew Goldstein well and let's hope for the best:)

The problem is, Goldstein played a lot of hardcourt challengers recently so he certainly has more rhythm and match play than Guga. But will Guga feel some magic and optimism:)? Will he play like we know he can:)? Anything can happen!

Guga is sooooo inconsistent though, but he did hit a lot more winners than UFES, so he's definitely in the right direction:yeah: The stadium was all with Guga, even though Goldtein is American:lol: Loved it:D! It reminds me again and again why Guga is by far my all-time fave player:D!

Robredo will be a lot tougher, I just hope Guga can play his game, be aggressive and outplay Robredo:D! When Tommy is angry, he can tank points and be very negative, so watch out;)!

A 4 sets match is a good way to get some of his rhythm back.

His UEs are mainly contributed by his lack of match play. A slight hesitation when approaching his shot results in most of his UEs.

Tommy is a top 20 player while Goldstein is the "challenger king" (according to Jim Courier). It's a whole new ball game and I'll be happy that Guga will play a good one vs Tommy. I don't hold much hope of him winning.

I could only watch the first four or five games. Guga was playing in a really agressive style. Too bad that it took him more than 3 hours, he must be really tired. But let's hope that he gets 100% by the time he faces Robredo.

I try to think positive that Guga survived many bad service games and are improving. Tommy will be very frustrated not able to break. It's quite amazing that there's only 1 bp from 13 receiving points won by Tommy in 4 service games by Guga.
