Congrats to Blake, must be very happy to get a title at home! Not nice to see Feli just sort of give up in the last set, sometimes his mind really gets him down. Good week nevertheless! :yeah:

James! :woohoo: Well done :D This has been a brilliant summer for the Americans: Robby, Andre, Andy, and now James have all won titles. Excellent excellent :bigclap: Hopefully they will all carry this momentum over to the USO and do very well there. :bounce:

Was disappointed with Feli though, in the third set where he basically gave up. A total mental meltdown, like he didn't care anymore. :( Very discouraging to see. Maybe he was annoyed that the official would not let him talk with his coach throughout the match like he did the other day.

Feli started off confidently and then beat himself after the rain delay. Much credit to Blake of course for playing smarter and smarter.

It makes me sad. Feliciano is one of the most talented players and has almost everything to succeed and win titles, except the mental aspect. He did so well in Wimbledon but now having all the same crap all over again. He really gets frustrated over nothing and it ruins his rhythm. And when that's gone he goes for too much as if he was playing his best tennis in top form, making tons of errors. If you look at what level Feliciano is capable of playing, he should be achieving more.

if you watch him closely you'll see he loses concentration often and just falls into oblivion, to me thats his biggest problem, bigger than the inconsistent backhand. I wish he would take some mental strength classes from Rafa  might be useful!

Congratulations to James, that was very important for him and he was able to win today without playing his best. Good luck for the Open :D

someone who is watching him closely. :wavey: he lets himself be frustrated by one or 2 bad points, and its impossible to achieve more if you do that cause you never get things going your way only! running out of patience so fast as he does sometimes is scary and winning will always be a question of temperament!

I agree, LaLo is one of the hugest talents in tour, he should have won sth like 10+ titles, bad luck I guess

although i wish it weren't just his 2nd title. he should win more.

i dunno... as bad as it may sound, blake might just be a todd martin or reneberg rather than a pete or andre in the long run...

but good form him nonetheless!

I'm so happy James is playing well again. All the things he went through last year only made him stronger mentally. As for Lopez, he totally gave up in the third set.

That's probably the case with 95% of the players on tour. Good win for James and a good week for Feli. Hopefully both will carry their form into next week.

Well done to James Blake! :D To win in his home town must be a big thrill for him. :) But Blake expended so much energy to win New Haven that I wonder if he will have a let down at the U.S. Open.

I probably notice because I am like that too and it's no good for me either but I can't help it. Federer used to get incredibly pissed at losing points but matured and stopped doing it, so it's possible.
