Nice new colour :woohoo:

The old colour was pathetic, really ugly and useless for tv coverage! These blue/green courts are alot nicer for tv viewing :D

Lets hope the tv companies get their ass into gear as well, the past few years has been awful picture quality! It was disgusting last year. Probably the worst picture broadcast quality of all atp/wta events ive ever seen! and its meant to be usa (the country of technology :tape: !! :D ).

Eurosports coverage will be crap though, you can only watch one court (no doubt pathetic choices as usual!) Sky sports service for the usopen will be great, 5 courts (but you cant blame sky for the quality of the feed). Its the useless american host broadcast channel which sucks ass.

Nah, AA, LA, C1 and maybe other outside courts.

Yes but what i mean is, you will be stuck with euros choice (which usually isnt the greatest). Sky sports service allows you to choose 1/5 at all times, interactive service they call it.

Nope, not exactly, If it's crap I switch to TSR2 or other, btw ES2 shows too:worship:

I have a hunch this disgusting suck ass crap picture quality is nothing to do with technical problems and everything to do with the NTSC video signal used in the U.S. - it's different from the PAL system used in Europe and obviously the resolution is different too. It does look worse to me than the videotape we have here, everything's slightly blurry and less distinct at the edges, but I doubt there's anything either broadcaster can do unless the pictures go through a conversion process that'll take considerably longer than ten seconds (or whatever the time delay is between here and New York) to achieve.

Sjengster is right. Transatlantic live broadcast always has quality restrcitions due to those different TV technologies.

The thing is all these other us events have "decent" picture quality eg, cinci, the wta events broadcast on euro (and montreal/toronto which are canada). It just seems to be the us open for some reason (which isnt on, a grand slam shouldnt broadcast such poor quality feeds!). I have spoke to many people in europe (from different countries) and they have agreed, the quality was terrible. It amazed me to hear people on here last year say there was nothing wrong with the picture quality :retard:

I haven't noticed any problems with the picture

I often think there's something wrong with the sound when Threlfall is commentating though ;)

Maybe the TMS events are actually covered by Sky cameras, using PAL signals, as well as the home broadcaster whereas the US Open only gets pictures from domestic TV? I'm really not an expert on this, despite my spiel about videotape formats above.

It's because the digital cable
I had the problems with Premiere...

Count me to these people. Just out of my mind, I can't think of that I ever complained about the picture quality of the US Open and I don't see any remarkable difference between all four Grand Slams and some other tournaments.
But I will check tomorrow again.

Same story as last year, the americans have fucked up  picture quality on grandstand takes the cake (top and bottom of the screen is shaking and jumping like hell). Man its gonna give people eye problems having to watch such crap!

I'm watching Armstrong and the picture's OK but there's music rather than commentary. I don't mind no commentary though. Actually commentary has just started but it's Spanish I think.

armstrong and ashe seem ok, grandstand is another story though (i already have a headache after watching it for 1 minute :help: ). Its a shame because all the best matches are on grandstand.

I will find out soon enough as I have to tape some matches for some fans who can't see it, I have new tapes and not crappy ones as for the pic quality. I am more worried about the commentators, though at least I can mute them.

Yes me too :) I think they should stay on Grandstand. What was annoying last year was when they used up live options to show Henman replays. The commentary on Massu's match has gone again which I don't mind but I think the music I heard was actually from the court. Only at the US Open would you get bands playing right next to a court.

They should be pink for the WTA and baby blue for the ATP.

I spoke too soon. The commentary's started and it's that annoying old English woman who works in America on the Tennis Channel I think. She just said Jan Michael was named after a porn star.

Everything is good for me, nearly same like for European tournaments and for normal programs.

I understand now what Joeb means. If you're watching closely, especially big areas on the screen with the same color (like the court) appear to be much more cloggy than usual. Lower bitrate of the transmission or fault of the NTSC standard like Sjengster said it.

There is certainly an improvement from last year i think (but still as you said, you can see pixellation quite often). It probably is the low bitrate (i thought maybe sky were compressing alot, but it seems the same on euro). I wonder if its the same in usa.

it seems its only sky sports interactive service that has the grandstand flickering (usually you get a white line at the bottom of th screen too). Euro doesnt have this :yeah: i am surprised to see euro showing gaudio though, did they show from the start?

the picture quality seems far superior on euro compared to sky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joeb, stop blaming us. The picture quality is great here. It must be your British TV that's messing up.

why is everyone bitching about the quality? :retard: Can't be that bad..
We have good picture quality over here.. only at first the sound came in two seconds late (which obviously is quite annoying), but it didn't take long to fix that.
Be glad you get coverage :p

Did not know where to post this:

How long will it take the USOPEN officials/website operators to put the interviews of players? One would have read many interviews in other Grand slams by now. The interview list still shows the pre-interviews of Sunday pretty much. This is so disgusting. Anyone knows how it can be conveyed to them to just post the interviews?
