btw, mons want to be on the ATP calendar next year

nooo i guess he'll play with cibulec, they get on well together and in szczecin they showed a good piece of tennis, they were clapping to each other after any great ball, i liked it a lot, other teams don't do that too often.

atp... wow... i wish wroclaw challenger was an atp event, it was said to be once... even dominik hrbaty confirmed he heard the rumours, but instead the KGHM cuprum factory prefers to buy matches for local football club and the sum of money went even down and now it's doubtful if the challenger will appear in 2006. good luck anyways and have fun. belgium is so small country but has so many good players, you deserve it :yeah:

meanwhile malisse & o rochus are friends again ;) they'll play doubles again starting next year ... malisse is not playing doubles in mons, he wants to leave mons as soon as he's out of the singles

i think that the rochus brothers might play doubles together , vliegen/darcis might be another team ... and probably wauters/masson

Looks like Murray won't be attending now after doing so well in Thailand. We will have to see if he makes it to final on Sunday I can't see him travelling all that way for a challenger. I think he's trying to qualify for TMS Madrid & Paris now.

btw tickets for a challenger in Szczecin 1st round cost less than 1 Euro and there cost 4 Euro, final in Poland was for around 8 Euro and in Belgium you can only buy a ticket for a QF for that money... goshhh these prices are similar to Sopot ATP event! (correction, QF's in Sopot are cheaper... but at least you can see Coria)

That means that tickets are pretty cheap in Poland ;) Scheveningen and Groningen Challenger tickets were more expensive than Mons.

Yeah, there are so many poor people in Polen. It's sad that people in Europe have to live like that. In Holland we have a lot of Polish workers who work for less than half the money that's a earned by the same Dutch workers! Nathalii, I hope you will ever have the possibility to move to a nice European country like Holland.

Oh, actually I'm quite surprised about this fuss! I only said how much are the tickets here! For example access to a big challenger in my university city Wrocław is for free, I think it's nice and it's a good way to make tennis more popular, as it isn't too much popular here.

Jorisj you are right that they are many Polish workers in your country, who even don't know now they have a possibility to be legally employed, they don't know the language and stuff... but still it doesn't mean I'd like to be sold to Turkish "night club" for some v-cash. And I kind of don't understand these young people who study here courses like law, medicine, journalism and the others, who come to Holland or mainly UK, to sell hot-dogs or clean the windows. I have enough self esteem to do something for less money here in my country but enough prestigeuos and paid enough to keep the living level I'm used to, as my parents are very good lawyers and I can't say we're not well situated. If I had to work abroad or travel abroad because eg. I fall in love one day with a foreigner, I could do only something what I have passion for, like writing novels, or even being a lawyer (I study this course) after getting required preparations and language skills. Maybe I can't look from the other's perspective, but I fully realize Poland is a Brazil of Europe and I call myself sensitive for social problems. Me being quite spoiled (however I've never got anything I wanted, I wouldn't even dare to ask), never had to work. I had my first job last week, at Szczecin's challenger press office, but it was more like a hobby.

And I have no doubt Holland is a beautiful country with friendly people... I will come there one day, maybe even next year... but as a tourist. (first I need to save up from my scholarship for dreamed travel around Spain and Portugal, and going to Sopot tourney ;) ).

Except for this match I like the draw. It seems Olivier Rochus has quite an easy draw with a possible semi-final ahead against his brother.

at first, i wanted to thank everybody who supported me in reps - Poland is :yeah: after all! /let's have some Belgian chocolates together ehhh anyone can send me a pack of sweets? ;)/

then, congratulations to Andreas Vinciguerra ;) started to like that guy...

and finally - wishing the best luck to Łukasz Kubot... if anyone sees he makes too many mistakes at the net, shout: "przestań chodzić do siatki ty kulfonie" and when he's playing too many dropshots, shout: "skończ waść z dropszotami, wstydu oszczędź".

and I hope Murray won't withdraw, I think he won't be playing the challengers in closest future so this might be the last chance to see him on this level for long.

He was very badly injured. Career-threatening. I am glad he made his comeback and I hope his back holds up.

this guy Flock is quite unfortunate.

Tommy and Cibulec playing against Wauters / Darcis... should be easy i think...

when Kubot starts to play, i'll be having Civil Law exercises :awww: such a pity i won't be able to follow him live... / and Kubot in doubles with Marach? i didn't know they are still friends! that's surprising!

I read in a profile of Meffert that his favourite surface is grass (same as Petzschner's) and that his dream is to play in the Wimbledon main draw. ;) He almost qualified for Halle this year, so he really seems to be good on the fast surfaces.

Vandeviele won 6/2 7/5 with... Jazari or Jaziri... anyway - with the one who lost. My cat's name was Al-Jazeera. It's an Arabic TV heh...

I really don't know what about Murray, you know how the gossips are. But I remember from Szczecin challenger Younes withdrew in really last moment... the same Gaudio from Sopot (actually he DID come to Sopot but didn't go out of Players' Lounge)

yup I'm leaving tomorrow, gotta wake up at 6 a.m.

Murray doesn't understand the tournament entry rules. He thinks he can play Madrid Masters qualifying when he is already on the direct entry list for a challenger that week.

When someone explains this to him, he may well decide that playing Mons is a smart move. His schedule is a mess and basically they don't know whether they are coming or going.

So I would imagine that on Wednesday you will see him playing in Mons.

Fee

Murray will play in Mons! :)

Murray chooses to play in Belgium
BBC Sports

Murray will be hoping to better his performance in Thailand
Britain's Andy Murray has confirmed he will play in this week's Ethias Trophy in the Belgian city of Mons.
The world number 72 had said he was likely to skip the Challenger Tour event after reaching the Thailand Open final at the weekend.

But the 18-year-old has gone back on that decision and is due to open his campaign on Wednesday against Swiss player Ivo Heuberger, ranked 192nd.

Murray is the seventh seed but is the fourth highest ranked player in Mons.

Only the Belgian trio of Olivier and Christophe Rochus and Xavier Malisse, who Murray could face in the last eight, are rated above him by the ATP.

It's the first time in a long time that there has been a tournament as big as this one. and for the Belgian players one of the few (minus Davis Cup) chances to play for their own audience. IMO it would have been a shame if he wasn't playing here. A big :yeah: for all the Belgian players being at this challenger! :)

we finished administration law exercises earlier today :yeah: so i came to follow qbot's score but it's no good  he loses 4:6 ... and he's 3:2 in 2nd but Bracciali to serve  PatatRiek shout something to Qbot to make him play... or just tell him to stop going to the net because i bet he does!

Qbocik 6:3 in 2nd set, now they are playing the third, Bracciali first to serve. Hold on Lukasz hold on, avoid dropshots and don't go to net unprepared. remember.

When does Murray play?

Nathaliia
10-05-2005, 01:46 PM
Q-bot 2/1 with a service... i guess now Bracciali will be doing everything to take it back... don't give it Lukasz, it's yours!
and i suppose Tomas Janda will be shouting his common things to Qbot if they're there together and i wouldn't agree with anything he shouts.

When does Murray play?
when Qbot vs Bracciali end and Darcis vs Vliegen end, then Murray plays. so still you have some time for it.

It's the first time in a long time that there has been a tournament as big as this one. and for the Belgian players one of the few (minus Davis Cup) chances to play for their own audience. IMO it would have been a shame if he wasn't playing here. A big :yeah: for all the Belgian players being at this challenger! :)

by the way: it probably will be an ATP-tournament in 2006 ;)
Hmm good point. lol by 2006 I'm hoping Oliver will actually make it into ATP events :D I'm just a bit annoyed at my Austrians, and that of all the players Oliver could have gotten, he got Olivier  (I am normally a fan) :wavey:

they should have switched the matches from murray & darcis .... darcis was on court untill 01H20 last night ... but lotsa british press showed up in Mons meanwhile, guess that's why they scheduled Murray a bit later

I am happy to announce the whole world that,

Lukasz Kubot also known as "Qbocik" (POL) defeated Daniele Bracciali (ITA, 5) 4:6 6:3 6:2
to meet in QF the winner of Olivier Rochus (BEL, 1, WC) or Teimuraz Gabashvili (RUS).

Murray shrugs off fatigue to make a challenge in Mons
By John Roberts
Published: 05 October 2005

The life of a developing professional player is such that Britain's Andy Murray has found himself journeying from his first ATP Tour final against Roger Federer, the world No 1, in Bangkok last Sunday, to face Ivo Heuberger, a Swiss probably best known as one of Martina Hingis's early boyfriends, in a lower-level Challenger event in Mons, Belgium, today.

Murray, whose progress at the Thailand Open elevated his ranking to No 72, is the seventh seed in Mons. He won two Challenger tournaments in the United States in the summer, which also helped raise his status.
Having worked so hard in Bangkok, Murray would have preferred to have taken a week off. But, having committed himself to the event in Mons several weeks ago, he is obliged to go there, even though victories there will not make an appreciable difference to his world ranking.
Should he overcome Heuberger, the 18-year-old Murray would be likely to face Xavier Malisse, one of Belgium's finest players, in the quarter-finals.
Murray's longer term plans include trying to qualify for the Madrid Masters later this month. He may also try to qualify for Basle, and the Paris Masters. For the moment, however, he must concentrate on an indoor court in Flanders.

Tim Henman, the British No 1, voiced his approval yesterday of the teenager's rise to worldwide attention.
"It was obviously a fantastic week for Andy reaching his first ATP final," Henman said. "It's always easy to say that if he'd played a bit better then he might have won. However, one of Roger's great strengths is his ability to play well enough to get the job done, irrespective of who he's playing. There's no doubt he's beatable but it was always going to be a big ask for Andy to do it under the circumstances, but I'm sure he'll take a lot of positives from his performance, particularly in the second set - and rightly so."
