Malisse is a hella talented player, I like him very very much, he's one of my favourite players between all the others, but Murray is soooo hyped... maybe he's really that good? And he's got lots of self-confidence, especially after Bangkok final plus he seems to have good physical preparation (and if something's getting broken, it's always possible to take a timeout :tape: ).

Qbot is being demolished and it kinda hurts my patriotic feelings

Lucasz is fustrating. He's been consistantly moving up the rankings now for like 5 years. But slowly. VERY slowly. And everytime there seems a chance for a really big breakthrough it doesn't happen. I'm sure he will get into the top hundred eventually but I guess he will do it at his pace and not when we want him too. :(

Oh I learnt about it this year! It will be a bit complicated. Well, my grandfather's older brother died in a village near Olsztyn (north-east Poland) and we went for a funeral, and my dad who is a lawyer was about to help the closest family of the dead to deal with inheritance. I met many people from my further family that I didn't know before. We drew the geneaology tree, and I liked it so much that I asked my dad to help me to draw the tree from his mother's side (my grandmother died about 14 years ago ;( so I was never too much into it). Then it turned out my gradma's father was a Belgian who came to USA and married... an American Indian girl and... they settled down in the territory of Poland! They had 3 daughters, one was a Polish teacher (!) in highschool in Kalisz (she died last summer), one was married to a person from a territory belonging now to Ukraine but it was Poland before II World War (they are both dead as well) and the third one was my grandma who studied law in Poznań, worked in public prosecutor's office in my hometown, where she met my grandpa (my dad's father). It's so crazy ;) But as I counted well, it means I'm 12,5% Belgian and 12,5 American Indian.

would i be so pretty, intelligent, humorous and will i have so strong head to alcohol without it? ;)

Nathaliia
10-07-2005, 04:14 PM

Nathaliia
10-07-2005, 04:31 PM
lol it's a compliment! at highschool the worst grade was 1 and the best was 5 (or even 6 for smth extraordinary) - with 1 you didn't pass and every period i was fighting for 2

i got 6 in polish, english, informatics, religion & philosophy and political science

Nathaliia
10-07-2005, 04:36 PM
oh but last year i had logics at uni (it contains lots of maths) and i was between those 5 people out of 240 who got "4" and it was this famous difficult pre-date... i was so scared before it but i had to go to pre-date b'cause otherwise that exam would've ruined my attending KGHM challenger

at uni in Poland you don't pass with 2 and the highest possible grade is 5.

But what I must admit, although I am not his fan, it was 100% of fairplay that he came to Mons and played. He should be awared with huge clapping on his way to locker room.

At least that's what I am doing now :yeah:

Malisse said that he didn't suspect it really..."he's a good player and he's still young. This match is a bit of a gift and that's too bad perhaps but *shrugs shoulders* I could win the first set."

Murray was touching his thigh (on the backside).

MrExcel

Do we think he is making the injury up because he's tired, or is it serious?

evanzo
10-07-2005, 07:26 PM
Probably decided he did not have the energy to pull a victory out in 3 sets so figured he would retire from the match. He should have skipped this event really, it was pretty crazy to go from Bangkok to London then to Belgium without giving himself any time to adjust.

yes it WAS crazy but as I said, it was 100% of fairplay.
he's so young, next time he'll be avoiding such situations I suppose. He won't be playing too much if he's wise enough (and his team, especially) to learn on mistakes. Remember he was signing to these tournament without thinking he'd be playing so well in each. If he withdrew, some people would be bitching at him for sure and later on, it would be still reminded (eg. in General Messages forum).
He had to retired, oh it happens. Next time it will be :yeah:. It was nice to meet the Murray fans in here ;) You made me like him a lil bit.

malisse just left the building

i didn't know about his injury .... i only focus on my game anyways

murray will improve, he's only 18 ... lacks experience

playing vliegen in the semis will be fun, i know him well .... and at least 1 BELGIAN in the final ... it will be a fight

it's been 6 or 7 years i've played in BEL ... it feels good .... lots of support

i'm satisfied with my game ... especially the last 6 games or so were very good

no dinner with ollie yet .... i always played on other days and eat at home ... but we'll meet sooner or later (they were actually praticing together before his murray game)

attention for looks .... not really ..... i'm not shave so there ya go ...

sinds Wimbledon goed bezig. Daviscup, vijf wedstrijden in Bangkok, drie
hier...
(BT)

quick translation :

MURRAY STOP WITH BILBLESSURE
Sensation in the last kwartfinale of the Ethias Trophy in Mons Expo,
when the new English vedette Andy Murray at 7-5, 1-0 after fifty
minutes the fight struck. I felt already of at the beginning of the first set
a beetje pain in the hamstrings of my linkerdij, what impeded me at
low playing ball and when I had jump high. Because I stood in front 5-3,
I decided play still even further, but then Malisse played suddenly complete
what improves and I found the geraadzamer to before stop that blessure
became more seriously. My body has now rests necessary, because actual I am already
since Wimbledon well busy. Daviscup, five games in Bangkok, three
here... It becomes time rest.
Xavier Malisse had not seen that its antagonist was injured. He
played good, good slice and some nice dropshots had. But
he is still young. He misses experience, but he becomes a good player decides.
I am glad that I could him be correct today already. By this triumph is certainly there now
a belgian in the final. But I realise also that it becomes difficult, because
everyone wants win here, however. I have to heavy weeks still four go and I am
there in advance well to started. That gives also faith for the future.(BT)

Mallisse score?
Malisse won.
The score was 4-6 in the last set.

Vliegen had his chances, he was up a break in the third set but he's mentally not that strong and he blew it.
The commentator here was saying that Vliegen has the ability to be a top 25 player but he's mentally just a bit too weak (starts doubting himself too quickly,...). Two headcases in one match...gives you a mixture of brilliant moments followed by WTF moments.

So, the final is between Malisse and Olivier Rochus. Malisse said that he was looking forward to it, although it's never that easy to play against a good friend (and he had to do the same today against Vliegen)

PatatRiek
10-08-2005, 04:49 PM
the first semi final was very good ....

the second was less good ... Malisse won because Vliegen started to make lots of mistakes halfway the 2nd set

my favourite for the final is O Rochus ... btw, Malisse doesn't look very fit (kinda fat?)

Castafiore
10-08-2005, 04:51 PM
It's hard to predict the result of the final because neither Malisse nor Rochus looked that great today IMO.

I'm giving the edge to Rochus because Vliegen really had this match in his hands today if it was not for the lack of focus at the crucial points.

PatatRiek
10-08-2005, 04:51 PM
Vliegen had his chances, he was up a break in the third set but he's mentally not that strong and he blew it.

OMG I had to delete one post I made... just I was no too calm while writing this ;)

but be ready for smth kinda spicy instead ;) no matter i'm drunk second evening in a row ;) what i'll write now is :yeah:

how I got to know Tommy ;) i was watching the match Olejniczak / Dilaj (POL) vs Prieto / Arnold (ARG), my friend Kasia was about to get a player's pass from Prieto so we were supporting Argentina team. But i got bored and was too bored to cross the street and watch Andreev vs Garcia - Lopez. I sat down at practise session of Tommy, Tomas Cibulec and Robert Lindstedt. When my friends joined me, we clapped for the one playing without a partner and when Tommy was alone, I got few phone-calls like this one from Mom "Gaudio is in Sopot my child but it's said he won't play due to tiredness". All my friends were having fun for what I was answering to Mom and no one clapped for Tommy. After the session finished, we came up to guys and asked for a pic and Tom said he wouldn't wish to have one only with me, because all the time i was against him ;). it was unfair b'cause it wasn't ONLY me like he said. i had to promise i'd come to their match against Pala / Skoch ;) i did but only for... 3 games... after it, i went fo Mónaco - Monfils what i confessed in the evening.

more or less, it's why i'm still trying to make it up for him ;) he pretends really offended ;) even after Szczecin challenger.

A very short translation :

Ethias sponsor of the challenger in Mons confirmed that it will organize the event next year.

The first edition was a big hit for the public, players & media. More then 15,000 fans showed up.

Alright! :yeah:

Now let's hope the tournament will become an ATP event! :)
what i heard is that they would like to become a challenger of the highest categorie (US$150,000) next year ... that would allow them to have 3 top 50 players in the main draw ... becoming an ATP tournie would be the next step hopefully ... let us be patient and support this event, cos we do have lots of good belgian players at the moment
