Rafa has a couple of cool other nicknames, though.
El Niño :baby:
The Prodigy
The Spanish Bull
El Conquistador
...and some more

Mowgli is a better nickname for him than Piggy. At least with Mowgli you can immediately see why hes called that, but I'm still struggling to see how his grunt or movement resembles a pig

No offense, but if you read the original Duck thread you would appreciate that it was FAR wittier ;)

Potato alone might not seem witty, but it was derived from something Kafelnikov once said, which automatically makes it funny ;)

Yes I did see the original Duck thread- I guess I should have used some pictures of Porky Pig doll toys holding tennis racquets to back my statements up ;)

I have a couple of alternative names in mind but I will spare them from the public as I do not think they would be too appreciated. (I am enough of a HATA as is :p )

I remember the 1999 DC debacle with Kafelnikov and his "potato field" comment. He had a way of contracting the foot-in-the-mouth disease quite often.

Not that pejorative...If we believe in chinese astrology, the Pig may be the most generous and honorable Sign of the Zodiac. Pigs are nice to a fault and possess impeccable manners and taste. They have so much of the perfectionist in them that others may be inclined to perceive them as snobs, but this is a misconception.

And, the most compatible match for a Pig is the rabbit!

Easy, because he's a great player, I'm sure he's pretty happy now that he has his own personal trolls. It took some time, but at the end haters came from mists. :)
The fact people feel insecure about their faves is a big factor as well :)

You're right, he does look like a pig. I've been thinking that since the French, and now finally someone else sees it. I like the nickname. A nickname shouldn't be too flattering. Mowgli is way too cute and flattering of a nickname for a tennis player. Like the "Duck" and "Potato," Piggy can be both cute and unflattering, so it pleases both haters and fans. It's really the best nickname for Rafael. I don't know why his fans are complaining about it. Does Federer have a nickname yet? He needs to get one that sticks. Something that can be both endearing and mean spirited, because that is what this board is.

It's really really far fetched to compare him to a pig. There must be something better than this.

One thing I will say, pigs are very discerning diners. That phrase "eating like a pig" is a complete misnomer, they have very sensitive stomachs and shouldn't just be fed anything available. I'm sure young Rafa has equally good taste when it comes to sampling his native cuisine.
