Will Nadal get burnt out this year?

He has already played 73 singles and 26 doubles matches and there is still 1 GS, 3 TMS and 1 YEC to play, which will total probably to 15 singles matches at least.

Is he heading for a burn out?

if he does, i dont think it will matter that much since he's accomplished so much. He wouldnt have done it all for nothing. he might burn out, but atleast he will be able to say, I came, I saw, I conquered, I burned out

...but i think he will be strong enough for the US Open and smart enough to rest up for the YEC

I know that this is your mantra for today chloe but I think this is a legitimate question. Nadal's playing style combined with the fact that he may well play 90-100 singles matches this year could lead to burnout. Like all players who find great success, he needs to cut back on his schedule for next year like Federer did last year. 18-20 tournaments plus Davis Cup should be good enough to challenge for the number 1 spot.

I'm sure he will.

When he set his schedule for this year he had no idea how far he was going to go in the required events. He probably also didn't want to let down the events he already signed up for before he was doing quite so well. I'm sure his schedule for next year will be quite different.

19 year olds don't get tired. ;)

This has been quite a year for Rafa, so you know, it is entirely possible for him to get burnt out. We'll see what happens

Absolutely. I don't think his team dreamed that they could win 9 tournaments and counting in one year this early on in his career. Very few players have ever won that many tournies in one year.

he should be careful how many events he enters!

Footballers are known to burn out in early years so why cant tennis players?
