With a first round bye, 2nd round W.O. vs Nadal/Robredo and 3rd round W.O. vs Arthurs/Hanley, they are now in Montreal's doubles semi finals.

No wonder doubles is losing popularity. If the players dont care enough about it to bother to turn up  :o

And if ATP continues to want more singles players to play doubles, this will very likely to happen more.

i wanted Nabredo to stay in the doubles draw. They would have lost to these boys anyway :p

Nadal has played more doubles this year than the rest of the Top 10 combined. He didn't use the token knee injury either this time so maybe his shoulder really does hurt.

I don't know what happened with the other doubles pair so can't comment on that.

But this Montreal tournament has been weird as hell so I don't think it has any impact on doubles as a whole IMHO.

Doubles is garbage anyways. I don't blame those guys for pulling out. Who invented doubles anyways? I don't see Lennox Lewis or Roy Jones Jr. having a doubles partner in the ring. So ridiculous...

:haha:

I wonder what the most amount of consecutive walkovers a player / doubles team ever had in a single tournament.

Hmmm, not from the ATP are you? They seem to think doubles is "garbage" too. That's why they're going to kill it off, shortly.

A win without winning a single match would be pretty damn sweet if you ask me. That's the stuff dreams are made of.

rafa shouldn't have played doubles in the first place...he ends up doing this more often than not so shouldn't bother playing...just focus on the singles and conserve himself.
