This has historically been an tournament of upsets. Hrbaty looks like he played REALLY well today.

JC was serving to stay in the first set at 4-5. He went up 40-0 before Dominik won 5 straight points to win the set. Had the chances at 40-0 to make it 5-5

JC seemed to fade badly in the second set. He played a match that lasted over 2 and half hours against Ferrer last night and that didn't finish until 1am which might have just made him a step slow today.

now watch andre lose to kiefer tonight :lol:That will most likely happen. Andre is playing under his standard.

I'm kind of surprised because Ferrero played quite well in this tournament and he really seemed in shape. I mean, today he didn't play an awful match, some ground strokes were really impressive. But Dominik played like a robot. Has this guy any nerves??? Good game though. I'm still in a shock that I actually enjoyed it  ;)

Onto Cincy now, where hopefully JC will get a good draw and no rain delays! lol

I wish this could even be considered an upset.

Yes, Ferrero blew a big opportunity at 4-5 in the 1st set. Perhaps he was too tired from last night's match. I doubt he'll get such a favorable draw next week. Still only 3 quarterfinals this year. :(

Where's the Ferrero of 2003? Will he ever return to that level of play? FO winner, USO finalist.

At least he's wearing better shorts. Love those Lottos from Wimbledon.

At least he's doing better than last year, where he wasn't able to get back to back wins after Wimbledon. Now if we can just go one step further, back to back to back. ;) :p

I'm sick of it as well. Gasquet, Coria, Gonzalez, Ferrero, Nalbandian, Hewitt and Roddick. And I don't even care for half of those players, but still... :o just sounds like San Diego of the ATP.

I know it makes the road easier to Agassi and that's the one I wanted to wim right behind Gasquet ( :p ), but still... there's only Nadal as a "real" obstacle now as Agassi is better than everyone else in this field, if he's on a good day.

It is hard watching him as just a shadow of his former self.

"Dominator" was very calm to play his shots, and maybe since he's a good doubles player he hit the ball in a short time with powerful strenght,I mean sometimes his opponent was not easy to guess the direction, but Juan Carlos didn't play bad, good luck to him in Cincy! :)

Just can't string them together anymore  :banghead:

Well done to Hrbaty. I didn't see the match but he is known for being a great competitor and difficult opponent for any player when he is in the right mood. Still a shame for JCF- like Nalbandian everytime I think he is on the road back and will do some damage in an event someone ends up getting the better of him.

Well done Dominik, easier than I thought it would be.

I dont consider this an upset at all. There is not much difference between them in rankings, and Hrbaty has been playing well this tournament.

Anyway whats with people complaining about upsets when they happen, and then complaining about dominance when a few top players dominate?

He's dropped too much weight, he's got no strength at all.

I was really, really impressed with Hrbaty in this match. He succeeded in almost everything.
