Since I live in the area I hope to see one of the matches, maybe Roman Valent's match since he is Swiss and a junior Grand Slam champion although this was a few years back. I will just watch a few minutes of the match since I won't have the time but since I've never watched a tennis match except college tennis this would be a good opportunity to compare them with college students who are on the tennis team.

Hi Jim, Perhaps you could keep us informed of the daily weather out there! Looks like Switzerland has had lots of rain and more is forecast.

The 16x 1st round Singles matches are scheduled for Tuesday, I presume remaining doubles are carried over to Wednesday.

I feel sure that you will be very impressed with the standard of play if you get there.

On the Geneva website Richard Bloomfield is interviewed regarding the forthcoming Davis Cup between GBR and Switzerland.
It also confirms the cancellations Monday will be played Wednesday.
For non-French speakers an auto-translation. (The best I can do)

That occurred yesterday

The day of Monday was to indicate the last qualifiers. The happy elected official names Sascha Kloer victorious over Australian Rameez Junaid. The other simple one programmed, was to oppose Jérome Haehnel to David Guez. The duel will finally have been cancelled due to bad weather. Eight doubles was still with the program of this Monday. The Swiss pair Valent/Bohli easily was essential vis-a-vis on two others helvètes Chambaz/Guenat. On the seven others double programmed, three unfortunately could not conclude itself for weather reasons. They will finish Wednesday.

INTERVIEW
Richard BLOOMFIELD
(GBR 312 ATP)

Why did you choose Geneva Challenger?
I chose Geneva Challenger a little by chance. In fact, I am rather a player of hardcourts, but not finding a challenger on hardcourt, I chose Geneva. Moreover, after my American round, I said to myself that it would not be bad to play on claycourt.

Didn't your captain of Davis Cup thus advise it to you?
Not really. It is me which makes my own choices. In fact, I still do not know if I will be in the team at the time of the meeting Suisse/GrandeBretagne of the Davis Cup. Perhaps I will have the role of sparing partner.

Who will play for England according to you?
Greg Rusedski who has made very good results lately. Andrew Murray who is a good claycourt player and probably David Sherwood for the double. Unfortunately for us, Tim Henman prefers to concentrate on his career. He is not very young any more and prefers to save himself. Murray is involved much in Spain and can develop a very good player on claycourt. The proof, his semi-final in Roland Garros juniors 2005. In the doubles it will be probably Murray and Sherwood. They know each other well and played together against Israel.

Which is your prognostic for the match Suisse/Grande Brittany?
I think that Federer will be unbeatable; it will thus be necessary to concentrate on the three others matches. Wawrinka as for him is a good claycourt player. He is not for nothing victorious of the two last editions of Geneva Challenger. I do not forget also his final with Gstaad lost against Gaudio. He is an important player, but Rusedski with his expertise should be able to beat him. The double open remainder should thus be played the last day. Switzerland with Federer is favorite, but I nevertheless will say 3-2 for England.

How do you find Geneva?
In fact I do not know yet. I did not go yet into the centre of town. I was told that it was very beautiful, especially the edge of the lake. I will be delighted to go there, perhaps this afternoon after my match. In any case with this rainy weather I do not feel out of place here. One would believe oneself in London (laughter).
.

I saw a little of the match Vicente vs Bohli. I only saw like 15 min. of the match but it was the first time I saw a professional match and was really impressed at how hard they were hitting the ball. Just before I left it looked like Bohli seemed to be a bit tired so I'm assuming he lost. They were still on serve 4 all. The facilites there seemed to be great and there were like quite a lot of people watching that match which was on center court.

I like to see former junior grand slam champions do well. Well done Carlos. I wished it was Roman though.

It is in did. As a matter of fact, the man from the city of Entre Rios never reached CFs before and now he is in semis (2-5 at challenger's level before this tournament starting in 2.004)

Good luck today
