Coria defintely!!!! He should have Roland Garros and not Gaudio! If it weren't for that injury....

Once again someone has confused cramp as an injury. It's not an injury and never has been an injury, it's a loss of physical conditioning and is preventable. If a doctor says cramp is an injury then they shouldn't be working in medicine.

To the answer the question. The King of Clay for 2004 doesn't exist, there have been only 3 Kings of clay Borg, Muster ( for 1,5 seasons) and Kuerten, the others are pretenders.

Coria wasn`t injured, he had cramps because of nervousness.
If you want to be a real champion you also have to be able to handle pressure and nerves.

Gaston was the king !!!!

Definately Gaston :) He won 5 clay court titles this year (Vina del Mar, Buenos Aires, Estoril, Gstaad and Kitzbuehel), while Coria won only one. As for the 2004 Roland Garros final - get over it people - I'm sure Coria has by now. Cramp is not an injury, Gaston was the Champion and no one will ever take that away from him :)

2004?a call from the past... :)
neither ...Coria, had a better last year,he played great ,but his fatal problem appeared in more than one occasion( the biggest was RG  ) ..fear from winning  , so he wasnot the king..

As for Gaudio, the record spoke for it:32-13..he lost 13 times,.honestly ,.i can't call him a king,

GAUDIO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE BEAT CORIA @ RG, AND CORIA HAS BEEN DOING BAD ALL YEAR. GAUDIO IS BETTER, BY FAR.

A no brainer, coria .

Ferrero Forever

can't vote since the King Of Clay title belongs to Ferrero, regardless of how he played that year.

Gaudio, of course.

if there has to be a discussion as to who is the King of Clay, there simply was none

Guga, Ferrero, Nadal--they could hold such a title for there was no discussion to be had. You knew

Coria reached the final in Montecarlo and Rome, and he showed that he is the only one that can beat Nadal.
Gaudio simplye failed to play in big tournaments.

As for the 2004 season, I think Gaudio achieved more than Coria, simply because he won RG.

I want to add something. None of them can be called really kinf of clay. There is only one king of clay: Rafael Nadal (although I really think Coria might be able to beat him next year).

If by King of Clay you mean someone who can be considered as the dominant player in the surface, then there is not an unambiguous reply as to who is the king of clay in 2004. Gaudio won RG but lost many matches, Coria lost to Federer and Gaudio.

Ferrero in 2003 was also not a dominant figure in the surface. As for Nadal, i am a big fan, but you cannot call him king of clay after just one period, even one as exceptional as the one he had this year. It is quite possible that he will improve his game but fail to reproduce the same results in 2006.

2004 King of Clay I don't think it was any of them but definitely Coria is better than Gaudio ...
