First of all congrats to Verdasco for an outstanding week and showing some good form to match the talent that is clearly there.

Well done Gaston for being the first man since Corretja in 2002 to win the Gstaad and Kitzbhüel titles at altitude.

Good to see that his finals record is improving and the good performance in last weeks final against Nadal, has been a successful 3 weeks, now please withdraw from Sopot.

It wouldn't be Gaudio if he did it the easy way would it, leading 5-2 in the 4th, blowing 8 match points but he won.

Kudos to Verdasco, hopefully he can build from his performance during the week and move onto better things for the year.

The Argentines love this event. Vilas won it 4 times, Coria, de la Peña and Gaudio have now won it.

I am happy for both guys and now Gaston should rest and Verdasco come on show some more of the obvious talent.

Verdasco even gave some balls to Gastón when the line judges called them out. And they were in complicated moments too. It was a nice match to watch

Well, now it's a good time to remember all that writing and talking about the "one hit wonder" after RG 2004 (including the champ of them all: that dumb TV guy from Chile that wanted to bet his house or sth on Gaston going back to 40th rank after RG 05)...

Since that moment, Gaston has picked up 5 titles and 4 more finals, established himself as perennial Top 3-4 in clay and is right back at Top Ten without the 1000 points...

Kudos to him...

Thanks that's good to hear and I don't think either of these guys are bad in that regard.

Yes, it has been a good season for Gaudio, the only thing that was disappointing was his RG loss and the TMS performances on clay, but other than this has been a good comeback season and I wonder if that Chilean guy has lost his house yet. :)

He's the player with most titles this year, after Federer and Nadal. Not bad at all!

Well, it's a good thing the TV guy didn't bet his house; he'd be living in the forest had he gone through it.

That was great :yeah:

Did anyone see this?
A little girl (only 5 years old I think) said to Verdasco into the microphone "For me you are the best" ... that was soo cute ... imagine that ... she said it slowly and so sweet ... I had tears in my eyes ... aaah that was so :hearts: and then she got a kiss from Verdasco  :D

Kitz is a good tournament and I am waiting for the presentation photos.

Great win Gaston :bounce:

But though I am a bit sad for Fernando, but it was a great week for him anyway and he did not expect to get that long before the tournament started

So congrats to both Gaston and Nando :bigclap:

No need to be sad for Fer, still soon to defeat such a gun on clay as Gaudio is, it was a good show up and he has the ability to do much better in the future.

What words?

Basically this Chilean guy called Gaudio a joke and was bagging him saying that he would go down straight away this year, and then when he won Viña he wouldn't talk to the journalist, instead he spoke to Rios.

Once Fergie or Alonso get here, they can give a more definitive answer about it.

Israel said .. oh sorry .. was a joke.. after that in a sarcastic way !!

Good win for Gaudio, looked too good. Gaudio was lazy when he was two breaks up, but when it was about to serve it out with only one break ahead he all of a sudden could play much better. Okay, it was pretty clear that he will win when there is no Nadal or Ferrer or somebody of that caliber and he was the favourite by far in this match, but these matches still have to be won and sometimes surprises happen as we know.

Apart from when it's Vina del Mar or Buenos Aires, of course, where he beat Ferrer and Nadal respectively. ;)

That was before both David and Rafa started having amazing runs beginning at Miami (SF for Ferrer, F for Nadal). :p

Well done for Gaudio - 5 titles this year now is impressive.

I'm hoping this is a turn in the right direction for Nando, watching him lose when it need not be the case is heartbreaking.
