Can't wait to see how he is going to look dressed up in the Barclays Champions suit. This is the big press day and all the 8 Elite players will be taking the Tour Challenge photo and going through all the other English press crap.

Again, this has just been an amazing season for this great guy! I wish Robin the best of luck, especially in getting through the borish press rituals today. :)

Robin ready for London - Norman believes in success

Andy Roddick to cancel the ATP finals. This means that the world nian Robin Soderling go to London. "It's an experience just being in place, it proves that Robin has delivered," said South coach Lings Magnus Norman, who says that Tibro son is mentally most alert in the entire starting field.

Robin Soderling had to reach the final of the Paris Masters to qualify for the ATP finals in London. But that dream broke when the Swede fell in the quarterfinals against Novak Djokovic. On Tuesday, however, was good news for Tibro Son.

According to Pelle Hjertqvist, South Ling agent, Andy Roddick canceled his plans for the ATP finals.
Roddick has pulled out. It is a wonderful thing for Robin and Swedish tennis. You just have to congratulate, they have done a fantastic job, says Hjertqvist to eurosport.se. South Lings coach Magnus Norman is obviously satisfied.

- It's an experience just to be in place, there are only few players are having. It's a cool tournament and this is confirmation that Robin delivers. It feels really cool, "said South coach Lings Magnus Norman to eurosport.se.

Thanks for posting. Great stuff.
I honestly believe Soderling can get to the SF in the WTF. He usually beats Davy if he plays good, and Nadal is a joke nowadays. Nole will be a tall task but regardless... Soderlegend only needs to keep his shit together, and he has a great shot.

Yea, what happened is that I stumbled upon the Magnus Norman blog, read about their almost disastrous plane trip to London, and other tidbits that I couldn't find anywhere else. I was astounded and happy to find it and had to share them. Those not living in Sweden are completely ignnorant of this information. It is not getting reported at all.

Magnus also had a link to Eurosport.se in one of his blog entries and then I found all those articles, which again have information and details on Robin that just are not available if you do News searches on Robin. To me, it was like stumbling upon gold. I had no idea how his elbow was doing, who he was practicing with, how his energy was holding up, what he thought of getting to the WTFs and so on. I don't know why the non-Swedish media is so ambivalent towards him, but we don't get anything other than the basics.

Yea, I'm using Google translator and then trying to make the articles read more smoothly by interpreting a better sentence structure. Some of the stuff comes out real funny. One article translated by Google literally quoted Robin as saying "My elbow fu**cking hurts!"

Those photos and the one posted by Bjorki are keepers. He is the dashing "Soderking" now whether people like it or not. :worship: So fun to see him crashing the WTFs and the grudging respect he is finally getting from the haters. What an amazing year it has been for Robin....and at age 24-25 no less...the stuff movies are made of. Oh, it would be so cool if he could make the semis, finals or win it. I think it is doable.

Now when Robin has established as a top ten player and is participating in the WTF it must be a good time to create a forum, and not only a tiny thread. There we could create threads with everything necessary, like pics, videos and stuff. I don't know how to do, but we need a forum! :)

There are players who have never entered the Top 40 that have Message Boards. How did they get Message Boards? Who made that decision and why? Is it hard for them to create a Message Board? I mean, WTF??!!

What do we need to do? Robin is a top 10 player. He's been top 30 for years. His twitter followers have quadrupled in the past 4 months. He is talked about in General Messages constantly and his fan base is growing fast.

I'm going to look and bump any thread in "Feedback/Complaints" and add my complaint on this. It is insulting and disrespectful. We can keep complaining and bumping the thread until someone listens, but we shouldn't have to go that far. They should have fixed this issue a long time ago.

This is not a question of "yes" or "no" and it's not open to a vote. The MTF has been sloppy and doesn't have a Message Board for one of the World Tour Finalists. Need I say anymore?

Day 2 London
November 21, 2009 by Robin's coach, Magnus Norman
http://answermyquestionjerk.se/magnus/dag-2-london/

Today I began to feel that the Masters is approaching. The traditional photography and the "roundtable" interviews were carried out today around lunchtime. Before that Robin and I drove a taxi to the gym. Got a little post workout today as well.

We played tennis in the O2 Arena today for the first time between 17-18. Pretty nice track. A little hard to run on and the bounce was quite low. But overall a very good course that I think will fit most. In the morning Robin trained with Andy Murray at 13.00 on the same runway.

A lovely dinner with former tennis player Johan Carlsson in the evening. Johan saddled on after retiring from tennis and has a successful business career. That is impressive!

It's not a matter of rankings only, Stepanek has no forum either and he is top 15.
Robin's thread was not active enough in the past, that's why he had only a thread so far.

But don't worry, you'll definitely get your forum this time. They usually create all the new player message boards at once after the request polls are closed.

Thanks for heads up, Truc. But "the squeakiest wheel gets the most grease." Keep voting for Robin and don't become complascent taking it for granted he will get one:

Vote for Robin Soderling Message Board. (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=153253&page=2)

The reason his thread hasn't been active enough is noboby can believe when they enter the Sweden Forum there isn't a Message Board for Robin and then they don't even look for a thread. The reason people don't vote more for him is they probably don't think a player of Robin's caliber and ranking needs to even have a request so they take no action. I noticed that all the other "Player Message Board requests" we're for players I've barely heard of.

I bet that is the same problem for Radek. Sexy doesn't have a Message Board either?!

I'll vote for him too. He is one of the most entertaining players on tour. And the ladies (Vadisova, Hingis, etc.) love him. That blows the mind. The following players do have Message Boards for some reason:

-Eduardo Schwank (Argentina, current rank #137, career high ranking #50) :o
-Evgeny Korolev (Russia, career ranking #52, which is also highest ranking) :smash:

-Jan-Michael Gambill (US, current ranking #908, highest career #14 in 2001):shout:

-Agustin Calleri (Argentina, current rank #394, highest career #16 in 2003)
-Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (Spain, current rank #42, which is also highest ranking) :smash:

-Mariano Zabaleta (Argentina, current rank #311, highest career #21 in 2000)

Day 3 London
November 21, 2009 by Magnus Norman, coach of Robin Soderling
http://answermyquestionjerk.se/magnus/dag-3-london/

Fairly quiet day today. Trained at 13.00 with Andy Murray. Team Soderling is a couple of people fewer than Team Murray to say the least ... On his side of the coaching staff we noticed 2 tennis coaches, 1 physical coach, 1 physio, 1 dietician (I think) and 1 more helper ...

After the practice I had a nice chat with the ever pleasant journalist, Tobbe Ostberg of TT and in the evening I had a little "personal time" in the gym ..

Early in the morning workout tomorrow.

We are ready!

Ehe he hasn´t a forum because Robin wasnt much of a media man, but I agree he deserves a forum because next year this thread will have many posts and also if he wins a forum the multiple threads will increase the number of posts, making it worthwhile.
I can see Robin having more than 1000 posts next year which is enough for a forum eh.

Norman: "Group B a Difficult One for Robin"
19/11/2009 - 19:07
Eurosport Sweden
http://www.eurosport.se/tennis/atp-tour/2009/inte-omojligt-for-robin_sto2128116/story.shtml

http://i.eurosport.se/2009/10/08/550999-6849765-317-238.jpg

Robin Soderling got the toughest possible lottery in ATP finals in London - at least if you look at the players who are in form. "Both Djokovic and Davydenko are in top form, so we feel that Robin's group is stronger in terms of form for this tournament," said coach Magnus Norman to eurosport.se.

Robin Soderling was drawn into group B along with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Nikolay Davydenko. A tough task for the Swede, but not impossible according to coach Magnus Norman.

Robin beat both Davydenko and Nadal the last they met and played a good match against Djokovic. Both Djokovic and Davydenko are in top form, so Norman believes Robin's group is tougher as of this time.

"So it's a tough group, but no match is impossible," added the coach. In Paris, Soderling lost to the Serb Djokovic, who is also the defending Champion in the ATP finals, and is in great shape.

"First and foremost, we focus not only on Djokovic, because Nadal and Davydenko are also difficult opponents. But one can't fail to notice the singularity of Djokovic, his strengths include the fact that he makes few mistakes, moves well and he hits the ball with extremely strong pace. I think Robin had a good 'game plan' against him in their past match, but unfortunately, he played two loose games at the end of the match."

Soderling and Norman have not discussed any tactics yet, nor have they set any goals for the tournament.

"There are several days left and there is all the time in the world to look torwards the match on Monday. We will take everything one match at a time and avoid looking ahead too much."

The ATP finals take place between 22-29 of November and it is divided into two groups. In Group A are Roger Federer, Fernando Verdasco, (http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http://www.eurosport.se/tennis/person_prs22638.shtml&prev=_t&rurl=translate.google.com&usg=ALkJrhgTtEUjmKao8N3FJhO2b7QSHaWWrw) Juan Martin del Potro and Andy Murray.

"You can only speculate on how it would have been if Robin had ended up in the other group. But as you can see from the past few weeks both del Potro and Verdasco have seemed a little tired. Federer's loss in Bercy also puts some question marks about his form, even though we know he can immediately snap back into form too. Murray playing at home will be a tough match for anyone."

I promote under appreciated, intelligent underground bands...that's where that comes from and maybe why I find myself promoting Robin and desiring that he be appreciated. I've been defending him for a long time too, just not on the MTF, so it's pretty natural at this point.

Now as regards Radek, I thought he already was appreciated, so that is confusing. I know people make fun of him, but I always took it in a kind way and that he was admired. And I thought he had a strong fan base. So that just surprises me. Sorry for the crusade mode yesterday....I got a little too fired up.

Robin was going to go for a walk on the streets of London also in the afternoon. It is also the first time I am out relaxing the past couple of days. 11 in the morning we will meet and then have a late match at 2:15 pm. As regards Blåstället (Swedish football team) ... In the Morning is the war!

BUS ON THEM, ROBIN!

Stefan Holm (stefan.holm@aftonbladet.se?subject=BUSS PÅ DEM, ROBIN!)

Soderling to play the lead role in Star Wars

Can a Swedish man play the main role in the tennis version of Star Wars?
Sure.
Bus on them, Robin Soderling.

The 25-year-old is the first Swedish man since 2000 to play the Masters Finals, which starts at the O2 Arena in London today.

Large?
No, it's gigantic.

A player may receive a wildcard into a Grand Slam tournament and serve home the title, as Goran Ivanisevic at Wimbledon in 2001.

The ATP finals, there is room for some bang. It's a showdown between this year's eight best tennis players.

Robin Soderling is one of them, even if it required a cancellation due to the knee injury Andy Roddick suffered for him to get a regular spot in the tournament.

He has earned the spot and I'm sure we'll see him in the Masters Finals again next year.

He Will Show What He Can Do

The best thing about Soderling is that he has belief in himself. I saw it last last night, when I studied the results from the official photo shoot, a series of images with suit-clad superstars.

Roger Federer smiles, Rafael Nadal smiles, Fernando Verdasco smiles, Novak Djokovic smiles, yes, even Nikolay Davydenko smiles.

Robin Soderling?

He shows the same appearance with a look that can cause a heart attack. He is not in London to smile on demand, and he is not content to just be part of the exclusive company. He is there to show what he can do.

Djokovic and Murray Make Up Strong Field

Soderling does not care that the other participants have higher rankings, greater price cabinets, fatter wallets and more respectable names. He did not devote any thought to that, he only has winning statistics on two of the other players in the field, Davydenko and Verdasco.

Since the French Open, the Swede has played 46 matches and, despite a troublesome elbow, he has only lost eleven of them. It has made him more feared than respected.

On a fast indoor surface, there is not a player in the world who look forward to face Robin Soderling.
The Masters Finals may be, for the fans of the Swede, much more fun than many predict.

I think Djokovic and Andy Murray will fight for the title, but I will not be surprised if the Swede will make it to the finals. Davydenko was able to get to the finals last year; Soderling can succeed with the same field in 2009. There is every reason to look forward to tomorrow's opening match against Rafael Nadal.

Bus on them, Robin Soderling.

She is all of that and then some! And she is sitting on my lap right now as I write on my laptop. Her name is Athena. Here she is watching a down the line backhand winner by Robin off a live stream. She is one of Robin's biggest fans as I think you can see here:

Sadly I have to work today, so can only be at the O2 tonight for Novak's match, - but I will try and leave early and catch as much of Robin's match on TV as I can before I have to leave for the evening session. Til then, I have to get back to work as I'm not supposed to be on the Internet in working hours :o My dream will be to see Robin v Novak on Wednesday afternoon at O2 - so please wish me luck.

Beautiful tuxedo kitty, Ljubica! Five kitties??!! Oh my!! It must be like having little gremlins in the household. I have two of them. The other one is a black Maine Coon kitty named Phoebe and she isn't as michievous as Athena is although she likes knocking my keys, change and wallet off the counters when she doesn't get attention. Athena is always up to some cat mischief. I don't know what I would do if I had 5 just like her. Phoebe looks a little like the cat that owns Jenni, Robin's girlfriend (they do own us, even though we like to think we in charge):

Today, my favorite three players all play! As you can see from my Sig, Nole gets my support against every other player in the ATP other than Robin, who honestly has been #1 for me for awhile. Rafa gets my support in every match other than ones against Nole and Soderking. So today's match with Sod and Rafa is going to be hard on me because I like both players a ton, but I'll have no problems cheering my lungs out for Nole over Davydenko. The recent Nole/Sod matches featured my two favorite players and we're not much fun to watch because I felt bad for Robin. But I was able to regroup the next day and cheer Nole on to titles both times so that made me very happy. I hate it when they play though, I must admit. But for today:

GO SODERKING!!!! :clap2::clap2::clap2: (and take it a little easy on Rafa :))
GO NOLE!!!! :bigclap::bigclap::bigclap:

Just popping in again when I should be working :o The pic of Jenni and her cat is awesome. Jenni is very beautiful, and having met her a few times along the way at tournaments, I can vouch that she is a very nice person as well. She and Robin always seem a very happy and grounded couple.

As for my 5 :cat: Well I started with 2, - the others just adopted me. They were all rescue cats who had at one time been strays or ill-treated in some way  None of them are pedigree - but they are beautiful to me. I have 3 ginger boys (Sasha, Wilby and Henry), the chap in my avvie (his name is Frodo), and one girl who is tabby and rules her brothers with a feisty rod of iron! Her name is Liljana. I change my avvie fairly regularly so they all get a chance to "star"! And you are so right - they definately "own" us and not the other way around.

As for tennis players - well Nole is my Number 1, - closely followed by his compatriot Janko. Then I like a big group of others, and Robin is pretty high on that list :D I also like Davydenko too as you will see.

Anyway - I really must get on with some work now - as my office can monitor Internet use :o Usually I'm pretty good when at work, but I think the excitement of going off to live tennis tonight is ruining my concentration. :o

Rose, I only have four cats (a girl and three boys). :D

I named her "Athena" because I've had 6 cats in my life (always in groups of two; these two I have now are 9 months and 1 years old), and it was pretty clear from the start that she was the most inquisitive and probably the most intelligent cat I've owned. Is your Siamese really bright too? I got her and Phoebe that "Undercover Mouse" toy which has been their favorite toy:

1j8YzNzpDI8

Athena has destroyed two of them now. She actually figured out how the toy was working and got curious about the engine running it and dismantled it. She is like a surgeon with her toys, analyzing them and taking them apart with extreme curiosity. I've never seen anything like it. I travel for work, and she was able to go outdoors from a young age and never get lost and come right back when I called her. :)

This Group B really presents a dilemma for me. I really don't care about any of the players in Group A, but in Group B three of the four players are my absolute favorites (Nalbandian is my other player; can't wait to see him play the exhibitions in Argentina in December - love Julia's blog!!!).

I'm hoping Davydenko goes 0-3. If either Robin, Nole or Rafa make it to the Semis, I will cheer for them over any of the players in Group A. I'd prefer Sod and Nole to make it, but any combo of the three will do. I can tell you this much. I do not like having my favorites take each other out, so I was hoping that at least one of them would've been in the A group. :(

Hi Ljubica/Rose,

That is soooo cool that you've met them. I've been following Jenni and Robin on twitter for quite some time now and she always posts such intelligent and interesting tweets and puts up fantastic photos. You really get a feel for how she and Robin are as people and I have to confess that this has been a big factor in why I've come to like Robin so much. I already respected his game quite a bit, being a Nalbandian fan and watching those two have some epic matches in the past and I like the brainy players like Nalby, Sod and Nole. Jenni is studying to take her bar exam, right? One thing about Robin that you have to really respect is the fact that reporters mention Nole and Sod as being the most intelligent players on tour, and that Robin could date a super model like all the other players, but he chose an extremely intelligent and independent woman for his girlfriend. That to me says a ton about his character.

My first adult kitty cat, Furrball, passed away at 15 years of age due to Liver failure in January. She was a highway kitty who adopted me in 1994. She chose me out as a kitten and she was a soulmate, no doubt. Gremlin was my black short-haired boy cat that was also a rescue kitty. He passed away a year and a half ago. I read about Siamese cats being different and I got Athena in February at 12 weeks old. She has been really challenging as she is the "feisty rod of iron" type like your girl Liljana. :)

I purposely went for cats that would probably be different in pussanality than Furrball because I didn't want them to be comparable in my own head. It definitely worked as these two are nothing like cats I've had in the past, and so I've been able to take them on their own terms. I love what you you have done with the rescue kitties though and I believe in doing that. I just didn't want the two new cats to come into my life the way the last two did. The "Maine Coon" cat is wonderful in every way that one reads about. She chirps and trills instead of meowing and talks all the time. She is really large, but has tiny high pitched voice and I've never had a cat that was this good natured before. She wants everyone in the house to be happy all the time and demonstrates an amazing amount of sentience.

As for tennis players - well Nole is my Number 1, - closely followed by his compatriot Janko. Then I like a big group of others, and Robin is pretty high on that list :D I also like Davydenko too as you will see.

Nalbandian and Rafa we're my players for years, and then when Nole came along, he took over as #1 for me in 2008. I admire everything about Nole, he is such a charismatic individual and one that speaks his truth. But after the US Open in 2008, he stopped being himself and got real defensive and uptight and that is how Robin started to become my favorite, especially after Nalby called it year with the operation in May. Robin has all the characteristics I respect: intelligence, independence, kindness, you know, the same things Nole has. Now Nole has started to be himself again the past few months, so I am feeling great about him again too. Rafa is David's great friend, and I came to learn through being a David fan that Rafa is extremely kind, generous, courageous and has a wonderful heart. David really admires Rafa and I became a fan of Rafa via my following of David.

Anyway - I really must get on with some work now - as my office can monitor Internet use :o Usually I'm pretty good when at work, but I think the excitement of going off to live tennis tonight is ruining my concentration. :o

You know how you read about something and think you understand it, but you don't REALLY understand it until you experience it? Well, that has been my story with my siamese cat, Athena, named after the Goddess of Wisdom of course. She has challenged the heck out of me. I was used to having laid back kitties because of my last two cats that passed away recently. My girlfriend had three (now two) very aggresive cats and when she brought them with her on a trip, they would bulldoze my two wussie cats around. Now Athena is the type that will never let that happen again. :worship:

My last two kitties that passed away recently. :tears: Furrball is the grey and white kittie; Gremlin is the black shorthair - (as I am writing this Athena is walking all over my hands as I type and I am pushing her off the laptop for the 10,000th time so she doesn't walk on the power switch again; I work remotely via RD and VPN and she has gotten me in trouble.....):

Nice to see all this talk about cats as well. I have my black food-crazed lady, Elsa, sleeping right next to me where I'm sitting. She's been around since 1989. Tisbe is out running somewhere. It's easy to keep track on her age, as she was born on the fifth of May 2005. 050505.

I went looking for a thread a few days where I could post my post-punk tastes (Chameleons UK, Go-Betweens, Interpol, Joy Divison, etc.) and found an old thread that was close to what I needed (we have the Prog Rock and Electronica, but nothing for Post-Punk indie). Bonnie/Karin,

Most of us in here love Rafa, Nole and Sod like you I've found. Read the last two several pages on cats and how we back all these great players like you do.

The General Messages area it's a different story.

You are super cool and thanks so much for the "Congrats". I think "Getta" said she wants Robin and Rafa to win Group B. Obviously, this could easily happen. Someone had to win and someone had to lose. My nails (or lack of them) are proof enough that that match was tight as heck and Rafa played a quality match. Good deal and thanks for voting for Robin's forum! :yeah:

p.s. I just posted a Syd Barret tune for ILovetheBlues_86. More psychedelic than progressive although the genres all do tend to blend in. I'm enjoying Porcupine Tree. I downloaded a few tunes from SoulSeek as per your recommendations. :music::banana:

I went looking for a thread a few days where I could post my post-punk tastes (Chameleons UK, Go-Betweens, Interpol, Joy Divison, etc.) and found an old thread that was close to what I needed (we have the Prog Rock and Electronica, but nothing for Post-Punk indie). The last song listed on the thread was a Syd Barrett tune by you.

I love Syd Barrett and old Pink Floyd. I thought you'd get a kick out of that one.

Love Atom Heart Mother, btw...

Oh I see. I adore Pink Floyd as a whole, but Syd is definetely a gem between them, a guy that couldn´t afford living a normal life because of so much creativity he had.

Post-punk is adroable as almost the leaders of those bands are inteligent people trying to express by the music. I only listened to full allbums of the mainstream ones, though, like Joy Division, The Cure, Siouxise and the Banshees, Echo & the Bunnymen and Interpol. :yeah:

You are super cool and thanks so much for the "Congrats". I think "Getta" said she wants Robin and Rafa to win Group B. Obviously, this could easily happen. Someone had to win and someone had to lose. My nails (or lack of them) are proof enough that that match was tight as heck and Rafa played a quality match. Good deal and thanks for voting for Robin's forum! :yeah:

Well thankees!
I fully agree with Getta, I'd like to see Rafa and Robin come through, too. But as I don't mind Djokovic and Davidenko either, I'd say, may the BEST of them manage. ;)
Don't agree with you that it can happen 'easily'. The 'easily' part I mean. ;) And I don't think Rafa played a good match either - his serve sucked, and in all he was hitting the ball much too short plenty of times and his movement is far from what it used to be back in 2008 and the first half of 2009. In general, I think he's just been out-of-form this second half of the year...
But I don't want to take anything away from Robin, let that be clear. His victory was deserved, the better player won. It just happens at times, it's a sport! :)

p.s. I just posted a Syd Barret tune for ILovetheBlues_86. More psychedelic than progressive although the genres all do tend to blend in. I'm enjoying Porcupine Tree. I downloaded a few tunes from SoulSeek as per your recommendations. :music::banana:

Very nice! And yes who doesn't love dear old Syd... RIP.

It was great reading back about your kitties Sodal, - and all the other posts here.

Wish I had time to answer more fully now, but I just got home from work in time to watch the final part of Robin's match, and now I have to head off to the O2 with my hair still wet from the shower :o Will do my best to reply more fully tomorrow, as I know it will be far too late when I get home tonight and I have to be up early for work tomorrow.

Anyway - from what I saw of the match - Robin was awesome, and I am so happy for his win.

Love to all here and their kitties :cat:

And - yes - of course we need a Forum.

Bye for now :wavey:
Rose,

Here are the highlights from the match so you can watch when you are not tired. You are sooo lucky to get to see Nole tonight at the O2!! :woohoo:

Good luck to Nole, Rose! The Doubles match is about half-way over and I'm getting charged up for my second favorite player to make this day a wonderful one! I'll pop into the Serbia Forum, where Nole has a Message Board and say "hi" in his cheering thread and hopefully talk to you soon about your five cats in Nole's chat thread.

Vote for Robin Soderling Message Board. (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=153253&page=2)

BTW, Robin has 59 votes now! :yippee:

Yea, I'm not sure I've seen any player in great form other than Nole during the indoor season to be honest. That must be why Nalby always takes advantage during this time of year. He seems to improve and the other players don't look comfortable indoors. Robin looked a lot sharper at the French Open too, but what is starting to happen for him now is that his mental toughness and confidence are riding high. He now finds a way to win instead of finding a way to lose. You can see it in face, maybe the first time when he played Federer at the U.S. Open. He expects himself to win. He expects himself to pull out of jams and lets go of bad breaks and moves forward. It's not so much his level of play as of late as it is his presence.

Lest we forget, Robin took out Davydenko who had just won the Masters title at Shanghai in Paris, took Nole to three sets in Paris winning the second set 6-1, defeated Tsonga 6-3, 6-3 in the Shanghai Masters, and has done all of this while having an elbow injury so severe he had to withdraw from the Stockholm Open in the Semis, and missed two weeks of tennis including having to take a 0 pointer for not playing the ATP 500 in Valencia. So everyone is banged up and injured it seems, and I would think Nole would be getting a little tired too. It's been a really odd year.

Always great to have a rational chat, Karin!

Wow, there has been a lot of action in this thread today :yeah:

Even if I also like Rafa a lot, I am very happy for Robin! What a great result for Robin and it shows even more how deserved his place in the Masters is! I so wish Robin will have great chances against his next opponents as well, that would be great :yeah:

I also really like the fact that this thread has become a chat, tournament, picture and so on thread!!! If we don´t get a forum where we can have different threads, we have to make it like that!!

And big welcome to some famous posters from other forums here :) Welcome here, Karin and Rose :wavey:

I also have to admit: I was never a very big Robin fan in the past, and am still not his biggest fan today, but I really, really think he has changed a lot in the nearer past and I think big credit for this goes to his lovely coach ;)
So now when Robin has success, I am not only happy for Magnus anymore, but also for Robin :yeah:

And I also agree to what some people here said that Robin and Jenni are a lovely couple! Honestly in the past Robin had many barbie doll-girls, but it seems also there he has changed and Jenni seems like such a nice girl (I am also following her and Robin on twitter!)

So, good luck for the next matches, Robin :yeah:

She is all of that and then some! And she is sitting on my lap right now as I write on my laptop. Her name is Athena. Here she is watching a down the line backhand winner by Robin off a live stream. She is one of Robin's biggest fans as I think you can see here:

:secret: Actually, I just caught her yawning, but believe me, she is a menace. She has shut off my laptop 100s of times (because it is warm for her belly) while I've been in the middle of doing things in her 9 months life so far.

Atleast she is a fan of Robin ;) My cat have a habit of changing windows when I look at tennis on the computer, I guess she prefers nature programs

I think most cats prefer windows over laptops. My past kitties and my Maine Coon have never messed with my laptop. The Siamese cats want to have their bellies warm though as they originate from warm climates. This is from the Siamese Breeds page (http://www.kkoe.net/en/navigation/breeds/siam.htm) at http://www.kkoe.net/en/navigation/breeds/siam.htm

"Siamese are no outdoor cats, they like a cosy warm place - their normal body temperature is 1°C higher than in other cats. They like to sleep on top of radiators, the television or the computer, or anything which creates heat.

Siamese love their owners and demand attention and affection, they enjoy riding on their shoulders or cuddling on their knees, or to cuddle in bed under a warm blanket."

Soderling Impressive in ATP Finals Debut
London, England

http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/News/Tennis/2009/Tournament/Finals-Monday-Soderling-Beats-Nadal-Again.aspx (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/News/Tennis/2009/Tournament/Finals-Monday-Soderling-Beats-Nadal-Again.aspx)

http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/01aa7tL1UU7Go/610x.jpg

Sweden’s Robin Soderling (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/SA49.aspx) repeated his Roland Garros (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Roland-Garros.aspx) success over Rafael Nadal (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/N409.aspx) Monday, defeating the Spaniard 6-4, 6-4 in the first Group B match of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/London-Finals.aspx), staged at The O2 in south-east London.

Soderling’s triumph both denies Nadal his 400th tour-level match win and seriously hinders the Mallorcan’s prospects of defending his ATP World Tour Champion crown this season.

World No. 1 Roger Federer (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/F324.aspx) increased his lead to 1,145 points over Nadal after his hard-fought victory against Fernando Verdasco (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/V306.aspx) Monday and could now be just one win away from reclaiming the year-end No. 1 spot in the South African Airways 2009 ATP Rankings – a position he held for four years between 2004-2007.

Nadal can now only gain a maximum of 1,300 points, should he win his remaining two round-robin matches and clinch the title, meaning Federer would need to either win just one more round-robin match, or go 1-2 in round-robin play and reach the final to finish as ATP World Tour Champion.

A frankly honest Nadal said afterwards that he thinks the contest is virtually over. “I think the chances I have are not to be No. 1. My level right now I think is not to be No. 1.”

Federer is looking to become only the second player in the history of the South African Airways ATP Rankings to have held, lost and then regained the ATP World Tour Champion title. Ivan Lendl (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/L018.aspx) held the year-end No. 1 South African Airways ATP Ranking between 1985-87, then finished second behind Mats Wilander (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/W023.aspx) in 1988, before reclaiming the top spot at the end of 1989.

Following Soderling’s victory over Nadal in the fourth round at Roland Garros (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Roland-Garros.aspx), and the Tibro native’s renowned prowess on indoor hard-courts, much was expected of him in his fifth meeting with Nadal. He did not disappoint, employing a high-risk strategy of keeping the points short by going for winners – a tactic that paid dividents the majority of the match.

“I think I was hitting the ball well today,” assessed Soderling. “And I think that's kind of a little bit how I have to play against Rafa to have a chance to beat him. It's tough to keep on playing these long rallies every time, because he's a great fighter, and he's moving really well. So I tried to keep the points short, and it worked today.”
Soderling took advantage of a slow start by the World No. 2 to quickly establish a 3-0 lead, but could not hold the Spaniard at bay for long as he hit back to level at 3-3. With the pressure mounting at the close of the set, though, Nadal could not rein in his errors and a forehand long saw him surrender the first set.

Nadal looked to be back on track as he engineered an early service break in the second set by catching Soderling out at the net and smashing the ball past him. However, more errors from the Spaniard let him down in the following game as Soderling levelled and it was the Swede who broke decisively, hitting a stinging backhand winner cross court to earn match point in the 10th game and converting as Nadal mis-timed his backhand after 98 minutes.

“Well, I felt pretty good,” said Soderling. “For me it's always tough. Every first round match in every tournament for me is the toughest one. So I was a little bit nervous in the beginning. But I got off to a very good start with an early break, so that helped me a lot.”

The 23-year-old Nadal was bidding for his 400th tour-level match win and currently sits on a 399-89 mark. He was also denied the milestone win in a semi-final defeat to Novak Djokovic (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/D643.aspx) at the BNP Paribas Masters (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Paris.aspx) in Paris (Bercy) two weeks ago.

“I think I didn't play really bad. I played okay,” assessed Nadal. “But in the important moments, I didn't have the necessary calm, so I had few mistakes. He is a big player on this surface, so [it] is difficult. If you are not completely calm and playing very well in that moment, it's really difficult to win, and today I didn't play in this way in those moments.

The reigning Australian Open (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Australian-Open.aspx) champion has been hindered in the second part of the season by knee tendonitis, which forced him to relinquish his Wimbledon (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Wimbledon.aspx) title defence, and an abdominal strain picked up on the North American hard courts. He has not won an ATP World Tour title since May, when he defeated Novak Djokovic (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/D643.aspx) in the final of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome.

“I am working really hard to come back at my best level,” said the left-hander.” I think I'm not far away from my best level. But I need little bit more confidence and more calm in those moments. This year is going to be extremely hard to finish really well. But I’m going to work very hard to start next year very good. I believe in myself, that I can come back playing really well next year.”

The 25-year-old Soderling – a late replacement for the injured Andy Roddick (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/R485.aspx) - earned his place in the season finale for the first time, largely due to his runner-up finish at Roland Garros (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Roland-Garros.aspx) (l. to Federer) – his first appearance in a major final. The World No. 9, coached by countryman Magnus Norman (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/N250.aspx), also won his fourth ATP World Tour title at the Catella Swedish Open (http://www.atpworldtour.com/Tennis/Tournaments/Bastad.aspx) (d. Monaco) in Bastad and has compiled a 48-19 match record.

Soderling is the first Swede to compete at the year-end championship since Thomas Johansson (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/J129.aspx) came in as an alternate in 2002. Thomas Enqvist (http://www.barclaysatpworldtourfinals.com/Tennis/Players/E113.aspx) was the last Swede to qualify and play at least three round-robin matches in 1999.

Now we will not take anything for granted despite the victory today. 2 matches left in the group and these are the 2 most difficult matches left in my eyes, they both may be the most in form and strongest players.

But let us return to the day game for a while. A little tense early in the day but the start of the match was really nice. Good move to start the match strongly and take a 3-0 lead quite comfortably. Despite the eventual 3-3 score, I felt as if Robin had things in gear in the first set.

2nd set was much tougher. Nadal rebuffed all attacks on his own serve and the hold of serve to 3-2 was the other key to the match.

Tomorrow awaits a quiet day with light exercise before difficult match on Wednesday again. The difficulty in these matches was confirmed by witnessing the tournament's best match so far between Davydenko and Djokovic.

Good to see both T Jackson and J Bjorkman in place in their roles as the race leader. Talked a little with them after the match. We heard!

Hi Etern,

What newspaper do you get? I noticed several good articles and two decent editorial articles in Expressen at http://www.expressen.se/

One editorial is making the argument that Robin is making fantastic strides and could beat Fed now; the counter editorial saying this win doesn't say much about his play because Nadal's game is poor. The other paper I've looked at is Aftonbladet at http://www.aftonbladet.se/. Again, multiple articles with multiple points of view including thoughts from Stefan Edberg. :yeah:

http://gfx.aftonbladet-cdn.se/multimedia/dynamic/01078/24s10-3_jpg_1078445l.jpg
Stefan Edberg

"He has a Golden Opportunity"
Edberg impressed by Soderling

Of all the Swedish tennis star is the only Björn Borg and Stefan Edberg who won the Masters Finals.

Should Robin Soderling become the third member of the exclusive society?

- He has a gold position, "said Edberg to Sportbladet.

25-year-old from Tibro began ATP finals by beating Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-4.

Stefan Edberg is impressed - but hardly surprised.

- It's great to win, but I'm not really surprised. Nadal has not looked so good since he came back from injury and Robin have nothing to lose. To enter the reserve is a perfect situation, "he says.

"Not inconceivable"
The former world number one believes that the victory against the Spanish world number two was just beginning to Robin Soderling show. Edberg does not exclude the Swede, who had a regular place since the knee injury Andy Roddick has postponed, win the whole tournament.

- It is not inconceivable. Chances are, even if there are many matches to be played. He continues to play at the top of his capacity, he has a gold position this week. There is no player that stands out. (Roger) Federer has not acclaimed market and (Andy) Murray can feel the pressure from the home crowd. (Novak) Djokovic is the one who has played the best. It feels like this could go really well, "says Stefan Edberg.

If Robin Soderling not win Masters Finals this year are legendary convinced that the 25-year-old West Gothlander may be new opportunities in the future.

- Yes, he has many good years ahead, "says Stefan Edberg.

================

I hate to admit this, but the coverage is just miles better and more interesting in the Swedish papers. They actually analyze and break down the matches whereas the stuff you find by Reuters or even the ATP World Tour web site just report the facts and add the typical quotes that athletes make. Is there any paper you might recommend off this list or am I already looking at the best ones:

http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/sweden.htm

Actually, I can find some editorial content off some blogs, like Peter Bodo published one today, but the angles are always from a Nadal fan's point of view and they paint Robin so two dimensionally that they are not worth posting here.

Bodo's first paragraph making an analogy portraying Robin as a wolf and Rafa as an elk (titled "The World Class Scowl"):

"The faces today said it all, as far as I was concerned. There was Robin Soderling, crouched low to receive Rafael Nadal's serve at match point, the trace of a smile on his lips, eyes alert and glittery in the manner of an opportunistic wolf staring at an elk calf."

I'm sooo sick of this crap! :(

Sorry I haven't been here sooner today. I had 3 hours sleep last night after I got home from O2, - and have been at work all day, so I'm positively shattered now

But just had to pop in and say I have tomorrow off work so I'll be at O2 again to see Novak v Robin. I'm so happy they scheduled them in the afternoon session, as I'm busy tomorrow night.

Anyway - my dream scenario is Novak and Robin qualifying, so this match will be hard for me. Of course Nole is my Number 1, but I can't cheer against Robin  so I just want to sit back and enjoy the match. Am meeting up with some girls from Novak's Forum and thoroughly looking forward to the match.

Enjoy it everyone :wavey:

Of course Nole is my Number 1, but I can't cheer against Robin  so I just want to sit back and enjoy the match. Am meeting up with some girls from Novak's Forum and thoroughly looking forward to the match.

Enjoy it everyone :wavey:

Same than me, it´s a shame one of them has to lose :sobbing:

Sorry I haven't been here sooner today. I had 3 hours sleep last night after I got home from O2, - and have been at work all day, so I'm positively shattered now

Make it three with me. These are my two favorite players. I've hated watching their last two matches. I had to keep turning it off and walking away. You know how you get used to watching the match from the point of view of your favorite player? When your two favorites play, you find yourself switching from one player point of view to the other, and the one winning seems like a bad dude for beating the other. That last match almost made me ill.

Nole's taken the last two, so obviously I want Robin to take this one. But I don't like seeing either of them lose either. This whole week has been tough in that way.... :sobbing: I was so hoping one of my three favorite players (Rafa is also one of faves) would end up in a separate group. I hardly watched any of the tennis yesterday, although it looked like two quality matches we're played.

Rose, I envy you getting to see them play at the O2! If you're going to see your two faves face off, that is definitely the way to do it. Have fun today!! :wavey:

The day between matches is often quite calm. Especially so here, at the end of the season, I think. The training is currently out of gym time as that kind of overwork can not accommodate itself over time. It is more important to preserve one's energy.

We chose to go to Queens for a workout today. Away from the O2 arena for one day. Peace and quiet. Hopefully, we will remain in London a few days and then it might be nice to break off a bit. We trained tennis about 45 minutes and then we we're in the gym and did various exercises for about 30 minutes.

A funny question raised from this week is how the players get to and from the stadium. Namely, by boat on the Thames! Yes, that's right. It takes about 25 minutes and is actually quite cozy. Traffic in London is just impossible, and one does not know really how convenient using a boat is, so of course it is absolutely the best option.
Match is at 14:15 in the morning again.

There are some things that need to be tweaked a little after the last match against Novak. It is nevertheless clear that this will be a tough match. Perhaps right now the toughest task you can have (playing Novak) if you are playing tennis.

On the Blåkläder (football team) again! In the evening, do I go to see Arsenal play the Champions League at the Emirates Stadium! We heard!

Thank you so much for Magnus' blog :)

You're welcome, DanaKz! There is so much material right now, it is tough to discern what to post. But I like the feel of the Magnus blog, and I was a fan of Magnus when he played too.

I like your avi picture. Once again, a cat (a big one I'm guessing) as a charm. A theme here at this time it seems. :D Do you own any kitties, DanaKz?

Robin should have shaken of whatever tensions he might have had now. Let's hope the elbow won't start to bother him later on either.

Nice to see all this talk about cats as well. I have my black food-crazed lady, Elsa, sleeping right next to me where I'm sitting. She's been around since 1989. Tisbe is out running somewhere. It's easy to keep track on her age, as she was born on the fifth of May 2005. 050505.

Nidhogg, if you get this before the match today, please show us a picture of Elsa and/or Tisbe. It seemed like it brought good luck before the first RR match. So Elsa is 20 years old!!! :worship: Furrball only lived to be 15. I had an outdoor cat as a pet as a kid that lived to 19. Do you feed herr anything special? I was afraid that maybe the junk food (Fancy Feast) that my former cats ate was what caused them both to develop hyperthyroidism. I've been trying to feed the two new ones only natural cat food, but they go crazy for the "junk food" brands when I let them try it.

================

Hi there!

I get Svenska Dagbladet (http://www.svd.se), it's one of the two big morning papers in Sweden. Before Robin's success they were the only newspaper that wrote about tennis in Sweden. Since they have the tradition to write about it I still think they have some of the most interesting storys about tennis in swedish media. A cute article I just found: http://www.svd.se/sportspel/nyheter/artikel_3844675.svd

Is that a cougar, DanaKz? Do you know why Tsonga uses it as a charm? Cougars represent swiftness of movement and speed and striking quickly which is something Jo-Willy has shown great skill at doing in his game.

This is where a chat thread would be really good. I want to go off topic without visiting Jo-Willy's Forum and ask you how he is doing this week? (I should do that, but right now we want to demonstrate why we need a Message Board  ). He must be frustrated given the fact that all the injuries in Shanghai and Paris made it seem likely one of the players would retire after a match or two. I was thinking that Del Potro wasn't going to go more than a match or two since he hasn't played more than a couple of matches without retiring since the U.S. Open. Especially after he lost his first match. But he seems to be holding up fine now. On the WTA side, their Finals event was a war of attrition and both alternates got to play. Oh well! JW gets $70,000 for just showing up to be ready as an alternate.

Do you know who the second alternate was? There really isn't any news I can find on that.

The first thing that comes to mind for cats is the quality of being independent and doing your own thing (DIY - Do it yourself). No player on tour represents that quality more than Robin imho. Nole and Nalby are also like that and it's a big reason why I respect them so much.

Bodo wants to paint Robin as though he we're the Joker in a Batman movie. Robin evily smiling as he is about to take out the innocent "Elk calf". It's a friggin' sport, Bodo!! The object of the game is for Robin to go out there and give everything he has to win, not to go out there and roll over for the kindly "Elk calf". Why is it that Robin is "evil" if he wins, but if Rafa wins 81 matches in a row on clay (defeating double-digit number of players, and possibly crushing their dreams and successful endeavors in the process) he is a saint? Was he an "Elk calf" when he defeated Federer at the Australian Open this year? Crazy! :silly:

This is what I want to see. Thanks, Etern!

Soderling Gives Advice to Young Tennis Prospects
http://www.svd.se/multimedia/dynamic/00537/praorobin620_537659b.jpg
13-year student Adina Lamborn interviewed Robin Soderling.
Published: 25 November 2009, 08.52

How to become a good tennis player? Adina Lamborn, 13 years old and future prospect in the tennis world has reached ninth grade. Robin Soderling gets to answer her questions.

Many juniors are doing many different sports and will soon be "forced" to choose which one they want to be good in. I wonder if Robin believes that it is good to practice other sports than tennis, even if it really is tennis you want to eventually choose as your serious pursuit?

I've kept myself in many different sports, but when I came up in my early teens I spent my time solely on tennis. I think that other sports can make you better when you play tennis, but when you're around 13 years old, you must make a choice.

Q Is there anything you would have done differently or are you happy with your arrangement of tennis, training and leisure?

Robin: "I played a lot of tennis when I was young, perhaps I should have scaled down tennis and increased my training. It is very important to strengthen the body at an early age."

He suggests havig a physical coach help you work out three times a week when you are around 13 years old, but points out that there is no need to rush too fast, and it is a very individual thing how you do it.

Robin also talked about the proper framework:

Robin: "It Is incredibly important to be positive if you ever feel sad or demoralized. It will always get better sometime soon. If you are positive, it's much easier and faster to get back to a higher level of tennis."

As many others have said at his level, Robin stated that the most difficult and annoying thing about tennis is maintaining your skills when you do not feel in decent shape.

How to improve self-confidence?

Robin: "I make it through by thinking of the good games I have played and my own tennis when it is at its best."

Robin is better than ever now, and it was great fun to interview him when he is at its best. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Robin Soderling in today's match against Novak Djokovic in the Masters Cup.

I bet it is Steps who is the second alternate. He ended the year ranked 12th, so Gonzo should have received the first request being ranked 11th, but Gonzo looked like he was going home for the season when he retired against Del Pony in Paris.

That really sucks for JW! It must be really frustrating sitting around and seeing an opportunity to play for instant money and points be so close. Every single win gives a player 200 points, which is the equivalent of winning an ATP 250 tourney minus 50 or being in the finals of an ATP 250 plus 50. And then each win is worth $120,000, so Robin has already bagged $190,000 for one match heading into today!

White is being "Open" to the world and energy. If in a great setting, it would be the most powerful. If in a setting where negative energy was dominant and being sent at you, it would be poor choice.

I think he has.

Worst Case scenario for Robin:

2-1, 4-2

Best case scenarios for Nole:

2-1, 4-3 (can't beat Sod)

Best case scenario for Rafa:

2-1, 4-2 (can tie Sod, but lost to him h2h)

Best case for Davy

2-1, 5-2 (that would beat Robin's worst case scenario; but then Rafa would be 1-2 and be out of the picture and Robin would finish 2nd. Vice Versa, if Rafa beats Davy, Robin may have locked up the #1 from Group B)

Yes, he has done it!!!!!!!! :worship::worship::worship:

I'm still trying to figure out the choice for "blue" today. You know who wears blue quite a bit? Federer does. Hmmmmm......

White wouldn't be a bad choice against Kolya, I agree. But I like this blue idea. Blue is also the color of royalty and for communication, but that didn't make much sense to me...

This just hit me. Blue is the color for the throat chakra, thus why it is ties to communication and speaking. Speaking, or voice, is related to the Magician card in the Tarot. Robin was definitely the Magician today and I believe our blue-clad Fed is know as the "Magician of Precision". Anyway, he probably just woke up today and grabbed his blue shirt, but it's fun to analyze this stuff.

James Blake also wears blue a lot. Never mind!

About your second part, yes I believe winning a set locks up #1 for him. Actually, the percentages favor him being #1 regardless at this point. No other player has been perfect so far but Robin.

Agreed! It is the spell combined with the timing and application of it. It is just as likely to go the other way if misguided as that is part of balance. It was the right choice for today, no doubt! :)

Boy, his whole demeanor and aura just look completely different than Monday. Same kind of victory point, but instead of the "pumped up" quality, this is more one of "relief".

We are really having an esoteric day for this breakthrough victory, eh? What is the origin for that? How did "Niashka" come about as the nickname for him? That is a fascinating "synchronicity" (I won't use the word coincidence at this point... :D).

Ok, it's obvious that quite a few of us are into esoteric studies. I'm still trying to analyze Robin's shamanic Twitter account profile picture for himself:

Karin,

My mind is still spinning. That first set was the closest set and infuriating because Robin had 3 set points well before it got to the tiebreaker. And then he barely won that. So I was just exhausted, because he has been 0-5 vs. Nole so far (much like the 0-12 vs. Fed; I didn't know if he believed in himself against Nole).

And then the second set to have him just rip through it like that knowing all the while if he won it he would be in the Semis.

And yes, Rafa can still make the Semis too. He has to show some strength against Davydenko today, but he can feel comforted that he played two sets closer overall with Sod than Nole did (can't believe I'm even talking like that :D ).

Roger and Robin may meet in the finals yet! I was half joking about the idea when I paid a visit earlier...not it looks to be the most likely scenario. Unbelievable!!! :worship::worship::worship:

Best to Rafa tonight against Kolya! I may venture into Rafa chat Forum and cheer him on....not sure if I might get tossed though. :haha::haha:The Western media is stil making him out to be an "evil villain" for Rafa.

Best, Karin! Quite a great week for both our main guys (Rog & Sod) so far. I'll join you in sending positive energy to Rafa to make this week really special! Then again, you know how I like Nole! Tough being Fedals and Sodals. ;)

Those are actually pretty daring and spot on calls. It is amazing what has happened to him since the ARAG World Team Cup. Most people don't realize that is where it all started turning to gold for Robin. I believe he took out Querrey and did a 6-0, 6-0 against Muster. And this was before Paris...

Did you see this happening? You're right, Robin is good at Round Robins!

Talk about taking your opportunity with both hands and succeding. I watched Robin play today (for the second time [first time was against Muller in Wimbledon R1 this year]) and I couldn't have been more impressed. Sure he wasn't always fluent in the first set but his mental fortitude spoke volumes for how Robin has improved and how patient he's become. He could have easily lost faith after seeing three set points go begging, but not THIS determined guy I saw today. The second set was just a brilliant display of his game - the whole arsenal (volleys included, which were the weakest link I thought). Djokovic may be tired, whatever... but he was playing defensively whereas Soderling was playing with the right mindset and attitude. There were Swedish people scattered around the arena, and loads of support for him, generally. :hearts: Loved hearing the "kom igen" and "snyggt" phrases from those guys or maybe it's just a bit of nostalgia kicking in. :sobbing:

I didn't take many pics of the match, simply because I was enjoying it too much. But took some pics of his lovely interview with Petchey on court from the big screens.

This is so cool! Thanks Infini. If Robin keeps winning, watch the media do a 180 and make him a good guy. I think the "bad guys" are the dangerous floaters usually ranked 13 to 30. I'm seeing a bit of change in the media coverage after the Nole victory. Isn't that ridiculous? That was probably the best win he could have for media relations. Crazy world... Fun to see his happy face there!! Thanks!

Yes! Who would have dared dreaming of this a couple of weeks ago? What if Robin had followed the tennis doctor's advice at the Stockholm Open semifinal to play despite tremendous pain in his arm: "You will understand that this is not good for your reputation. You have to think about the audience."

"To hell with you", I say at the Swedish organizers! How can a doctor give such advice to a guy who works his ass off day in and day out and always gives his best and who can barely hold his racket? I am as angry today when I think of it! No, it was very wisely done Robin, even though I know how much you were disappointed on that Saturday!

No, he had tremendous pain in his arm, and he only had a couple of weeks left to play tennis, so what he did today was extremely well done! I am very impressed. The most beautiful thing for me as a coach is that his arm is holding up very well, although he still faces tough opposition.

I thought that the first set was well played. Robin saved a break point in the third service game, and I think he got really good serves when they we're most needed. Extremely nice to win the first set tiebreak in the course of the match. In the next set, Novak really couldn't hang in there mentally and it felt like he gave up his fighting spirit quite easily.

Now we have a "rest day" before the last group stage match against Davydenko.

Hi gam_jonte,

See the Magnus blog entry today. He seems furious with the organizers in Stockholm for putting pressure on Robin to play that Semi-Final against Baghdatis. I had no idea there was some bickering behind the scenes on that one, although the news of Robin withdrawing from a semi-final at the time really depressed me. I'm glad he made the decision that he made. It has all worked out!! :)

She's beautiful :inlove:

Rose, I just want to say I am so sorry that Nole had to lose, because as you know he is my second favorite player, and has been my favorite in the past. But I feel ok about this one because Nole was 5-0 against Robin, and the only other player Robin hasn't been able to beat besides Roger was Nole. So now it is only Roger, and that speaks volumes for how he has matured.

Now I switch to my Nole fan perspective (too many matches like that and I won't have a singular identity anymore ), and Nole barely made it through winning back to back titles in Basel and Paris and came into this event exhausted. He then had that epic 3 set victory over Kolya, who has been the most dangerous player next to Nole during the indoor season. So I suspected that Nole might be a little suspect for today's match, and that if Robin was going to get this monkey off his back, this would be the day to do it. Nole hung in there and showed his poise for one of the toughest sets I've witnessed in awhile, coming back from 0-40 and three set points to get to the tiebreaker. I think he gave it all he had and when the prospect of fighting an increasingly in-form Robin came up, he decided to go for broke for the winners in the 2nd set to shorten the match and it backfired. To make a long story short, there is nothing to be ashamed about or worried about as a Nole fan. :yeah:

Where do you get the english blog entries? Is it translated from the swedish ones? Because in the swedish one I have in my RSS-reader he "just" said something like "To hell with you" and then it's a swedish expression that's not towards the organizers, it basically doesn't mean anything.

And I think he has all the right to be angry, a doctor schould look for what's best for the patient, not what's best for the tournament.

And I think he has all the right to be angry, a doctor schould look for what's best for the patient, not what's best for the tournament.

Hi Etern,

I used about three different translators for this blog, because some of the translations had Magnus saying some pretty controversial things about the withdrawal and Djokovic. The first one I used had Magnus saying in translation that Nole had a mentality that he did not like, and I couldn't imagine him saying something like that in the blog even if that was his inner feeling. So I used another translation and it came off more that he was saying that Nole lost his fighting spirit in the second set, which is something Nole acknowledged anyway. So one of the translators (Google) had Magnus writing "Fu***ck you!" to the organizers and doctor (seriously :)) and the second one I used translated it as "To hell with you", so I took that one. It's not been easy translating all these things and often I will write what I am positive is being said over the translation that doesn't make much sense.

I agree with what Magnus is saying too. What blows my mind is that I've been following Robin pretty closely for a long time, and when he pulled out of the Stockholm Semi-Final with Baghdatis, I remember it was huge because he could've gained points by winning the home tourney. I remember watching the Garcia-Lopez match in the QFs, and that he was in severe pain and had to have his elbow rubbed on every changeover and barely got through the match. I actually posted here asking if anyone had inside info on his elbow the day before he withdrew and noone knew anything. So I remember being really bummed because he also had to take a zero pointer for the ATP 500 in Valencia by withdrawing from that one and was out several weeks just hoping to feel well enough to play in Paris.

However, nothing in the news outside Sweden suggested there was any tension about his withdrawal, just the same old facts and quotes from his press conference. So I was totally clueless about the controversy until reading and translating the blog. Yes, that is so cool that Magnus stood up for Robin and stated that they did the right thing. There is no way in hell Robin would be withdrawing from getting extra points at a winnable home touney and taking 0 points in an ATP 500. Also, Robin played four weeks in a row at Kuala Lampur-->Beijing-->Shanghai-->Stockholm and got far in every tourney, so it's no wonder his elbow, which was injured in July, was hurting. The doctors advice could have put him out for the rest of the season and he wouldn't have won the Semi anyway. I guess it was super unfortunate that it was at Stockholm that he finally broke down, because I read he was hurting in Shanghai too. I think him winning Bastad earlier in the year may have put more pressure on him to "do it for the home folks" and win both country tourneys, but obviously one doesn't go out when it is that severe. I'm guessing everyone now understands and it is in the past, but this run definitely justifies his decision and I think Magnus sees justice in how everything has worked out. People won't question Robin in the future on such matters, and this run justifies everything he and Magnus have done. Good for them!!!! :yeah:

p.s. If I get something wrong, let me know. I appreciate it! :) I changed it to:

"To hell with this", I say!

Which basically isn't directed at anyone and just implies frustration. There we're extra words that made it seem he was saying it towards some group, so that is why I put in "organizers" which was a wrong guess on my part.

yeah some of the translators do a terrible job. i used to read magnus' blog every day but so much of it made no sense it would drive me crazy. then after robin got to french open finals his blog said something about how it was wonderful for SWEDISH tennis and the translator told me he was saying it was "wonderful for AMERICAN tennis". i gave up after that cos i figured everything i was getting was wrong!

yeah some of the translators do a terrible job. i used to read magnus' blog every day but so much of it made no sense it would drive me crazy. then after robin got to french open finals his blog said something about how it was wonderful for SWEDISH tennis and the translator told me he was saying it was "wonderful for AMERICAN tennis". i gave up after that cos i figured everything i was getting was wrong!

Yea, I know exactly what you mean. The dilemma is that I am now actually reading the Swedish newspapers to get all the details that are not in the lousy Reuters or ATP reports. I'm used to reading boring articles that don't give you any insight other than a few politically correct quotes. Now that I've found the newspapers including the one that Etern recommended, I'm just glancing at the junk stories in Reuters with no interest.

I am struggling, but enjoying the detailed content by the Swedish writers that actually care about Robin. So it's either put up junk articles that are technically correct but boring, or take chances and put up something cool with insider information like Magnus' blog, but run the risk of misquoting him or being off the mark. I only used 1 or 2 translators for all his blog entries until this one today, because they we're pretty straight-forward. But if you read his blog from today directly off the Google translator, it comes out horribly and ends up making Magnus sound like he's hating on Nole and cursing at people which I've come to realize is just "translator nonsense". You'd think translators would fail on the side of safety instead of throwing up curse words, but I'm finding that is not the case.

Here are a few excellent examples of what you can get today. I'm putting in the translation links:

Thank you  And don't worry - I am never ashamed for being a Nole fan :D And if he beats Nadal tomorrow, I will be cheering madly for Robin to beat Kolya as easily as possible, which means both Nole and Robin will go through :D

Which basically isn't directed at anyone and just implies frustration. There we're extra words that made it seem he was saying it towards some group, so that is why I put in "organizers" which was a wrong guess on my part.

Hi :)

I know how difficult it is to use the translators, I use it alot when I follow german media. But i guess it's wrong to complain when it's free.

The google translation were great  Magnus must be the last person I can think of saying that. It must have made you  when you saw that. If there is something that sounds wrong in the translations I will try my best to help, my english isn't great but there are more swedes here so someone else might be able to help more.

And thanks again for all the articles, now I don't have to look around for them myself :D

Wow! After the crazy scenarios in today's Group A competition, I am finding myself pulling up Group B to see what must happen for Nole and Sod to get in. Theoretically, Sod, Nole and Kolya could all end up with 2 wins and 1 loss...........and then it would come down to sets.... But compared to today's scenarios these ones are quite straight-forward.

Easiest scenario, Sod beats Kolya, 3-0; Nole beats Rafa, 2-1 (Kolya 1-2, Rafa 0-3). Rafa is already out so he doesn't have much to play for other than pride.

Right now: with matches, sets and games

1. Robin: 2-0, 4-0, 25-15
2. Kolya: 1-1, 3-2, 28-23
3. Nole: 1-1, 2-3, 23-28

So games and sets favor Kolya comfortably. If Nole does the best he can do and straight sets Rafa tomorrow:

Nole 2-1, 4-3

If Robin loses, but takes a set off Kolya:

Robin 2-1, 5-2
Kolya 2-1, 5-3

If Kolya beats Robin in straights:

Kolya 2-1, 5-2
Robin 2-1, 4-2

So Robin has to beat Kolya to get Nole into the Semis...

Robin: 3-0
Nole: 2-1
Kolya: 1-2

GO SOD, GO NOLE!!! :bigclap::bigclap::bigclap:
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0ciTaf87mi5P9/610x.jpg

By the way, with Verdasco losing today (poor guy, seriously, lost all three matches in 3 sets and lost 2 of them in tie-breakers in third set) and going 0-3,

Robin has secured the #8 Ranking (or better) for 2009!!!
(love this pic)
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/07qW7qy19JbLP/610x.jpg
AHHHHH!!! Relief!

This essentially means going into every tournament (ATP500 or Masters) where there are first round "byes" handed out for the top 8, Robin will now get a Bye to the Second Round if he maintains his ranking, even if all top 8 seeds show up.

How big is this? Robin was seeded 9th at the Shanghai Masters1000 over a month ago and had to defeat 33rd ranked Victor Hanesku on Monday in the First round to get to the Second Round where he defeated 24th ranked Almagro on Wednesday.

Giles Simon was seeded 8th, didn't have to play the First Round (got a Bye) and didn't have to play his first match until Wednesday already in the Second Round.

For anyone that is curious, the Magnus Blog for Day 7 (brought to you by Google Translations (http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fanswermyquestionjerk.se%2Fmagnus%2F dag-7-london%2F&sl=sv&tl=en))

(Read from the third line down....:haha::haha::haha:)

Yea, I didn't think he would curse like that ("Fu***ck you, I say at Swedish reindeer!" Reindeer???!!! :haha:) or say this about Nole: (according to Google translation): "In others can not stand Novak really mentally it feels like and he turns down his cap quite easily."

It sounds like he is saying he can not stand Novak at all mentally and that Nole submits easily. :haha: That would be a pretty bold and asanine statement coming from the coach of a player that prior to yesterday was 0-5 vs. the 3rd ranked player in the world. (Note: he isn't saying anything close to that at all. Other translators cleared it up showing that all he was saying was that Nole lost his form and energy somewhat in the second set after a tough first set. Nole said the same thing in his press conference. :))

I'm not that superstitious, but I'll snap a good picture of them both later on to put up here. ;)
They are both outdoor cats, and they know how to open doors by jumping up to grab the handle. They can do it even with the front door.
Elsa can eat just about anything, but she doesn't hunt anymore. Tisbe in her turn is a bit more picky but loves to hunt.

My uncle used to have a big cat, Svarten, which lived to be at least 23 years old, as he came to them as a young adult. It ruled the roost in that house over three other cats and a big lively dog, Topsy. The dog was forbidden to go up to the second floor, and if she ever put a paw up the stairs Svarten would show her the door promptly.
Topsy ate catfood along with the cats, and always tried to follow them through the cat flap. Of course she got stuck every single time, but it seems she never understood why.

The swedish reindeer is a good one. "Ren" can indeed translate to reindeer, but in this instance it's about Magnus telling the Doctor who adviced Robin to play to "Fuck off, in plain and simple swedish." ;)

Hi all..
I saw Del Potro yesterday - oh my, I think he is the toughest opponent for Soder now...

Hi DanaKz,

Pick your poison: Fed or Del Pony?

Neither one is going to be easy. At least Del Pony recently wasn't in form. But the dude who won the Legg Mason over Roddick, got to the finals in Montreal and won the U.S. Open may very well be the future #1 player because he is huge, moves well, and has unbelievable power.

Here's my angle. Robin wants to win at least one set tonight, because he would rather face Del Pony as the victor of Group B in the EVENING match at 7:00 pm. It is more important in my view that Robin get rest, because the Fed match is going to be the afternoon match. If Robin loses in straight sets to Kolya, he will come in second in Group B and have to play the afternoon match on Saturday against Fed. It's not just the fact that he would have to play Fed, but that the turnaround time would be outrageously short. These organizers did Group B no favors whatsoever! So I want him to get a shot at Del Pony first, even if Del Pony's form is the best, because Robin stands a better chance if he can get enough time to recuperate for the semi.

I just read a great article in SvD with that info and I'll try and translate it for everyone.

Uggh!! Something else just hit me though. The Final is on Sunday at 2:30 pm. So maybe he would want to play the afternoon match against Fed so he could get a day to recup for the Final? If he wins the Semi in the evening on Saturday, he would be in the same boat and have to play a fresher player the next afternoon anyway. These schedulers really suck. Why didn't they schedule Robin vs. Kolya for the afternoon match today? If Kolya could just retire after 2 games and give Robin the rest of the night off and let Nole play Fed on Saturday...that would be justice.

Robin is going to have to go into this weekend with the mindset of a warrior ready to battle all weekend without rest and defy all the rules realizing the season is over and he can rest later. It's like cramming for 3 finals in 2 days...tough task no doubt...

The "outdoor cat" thing may be the key. My two childhood cats lived to 19 and 17 years of age and they we're outdoor cats as we lived out in the country.

Was your uncle's cat Svarten a Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat? Those are the biggest cats. They also are known to socailize with dogs among many other bizarre characteristics that aren't atypical. What kind of a dog was Topsy? You know, it is a funny story to hear about Svarten setting the rules and the boundaries for Topsy, and I've heard a few about cat's with that kind of spirit. My last two cats we're real wussies and I had an Iguana named Scalia for quite a few years who was incredibly smart and bossed my two cats around. The lizard would crawl out of her 55 gallon tank, climb down the Christmas Tree I left next to her tank because she loved it so much, and then go after the cat food in the kitchen. If either cat tried to get near Scalia when she was eating the cat food, Scalia would whip her long lizard tail with the spikes on it at them to clear room. My cats learned to let the Iguana eat their food when Scalia was hungry.

My Phoebe is a Maine Coon and she is huge, about 9 lbs at one years of age and still growing. They grow until they are 2 years old. She is not overweight, but just big boned and broad with long whiskers, a high pitched voice that chirps instead of meows and a big brushy tail. Most Maine Coons look like Tabbys. This cat looks like her (I don't have a great scanned photo of her right now):

http://www.mainecoon.cz/album/black_maine_coon10.jpg

Wow, now thanks for the revelation about "Ren" and what that meant. Now I'm guessing as Etern said, that him saying that is not the same thing literally as it would be in English. For example, Nole shouted some kind of curse in the Paris Finals, and directly translated it was like "Fu**ck Off", but there was a thread in GM where people from Serbia we're explaining that it didn't have the same connotations as it would have in English. Is this the same kind of situation? It's more like a statement of generalized fury?

BTW, something really odd. Magnus did NOT post a daily blog for the first time since Robin got into the tourney for Day 10. There are tons of comments on that entry though and the last few are about him not posting. They must be really busy preparing for this weekend.

Here is some news that may make it possible that Robin won't get burned out in a long and grueling match on Friday night. I am praying this one will not be epic and exhausting.

Davydenko flags up injury concern
http://betting.stanjames.com/101837/Tennis/2009-11-26/Davydenko-flags-up-injury-concern

Nikolay Davydenko admits he was starting to feel an injury during the second set of his ATP World Tour Finals win over Rafael Nadal.

The Russian's 6-1 7-6 (7-4) victory meant Spaniard Nadal was sent packing from the tournament at the group stage for the first time in three appearances.

Davydenko now moves on to Friday's game against Robert Soderling knowing he will join the Swede in the semi-finals with a win, although the 28-year-old has sounded a warning over his fitness.
Speaking after Wednesday's victory over Nadal, Davydenko revealed: "It's a round-robin, it's not like I've won the tournament.
"I showed my best tennis and we'll see if I can do the same thing on Friday.
"I have a little bit of an injury from my first match. I was starting to have pain in the second set because we were running every point, so it was good to finish it in the tie-break."

Yes, this is true. Robin has wrapped up the Set Total victory by winning one set tonight. That is what he needed to do to win the group tonight. :woohoo:

This format is crazy, isn't it? All the typical tennis logic, like winning matches instead of sets, goes out the window. Same thing in the Fed-Del Pony match.

Ah yes - the lovely Liljana. She is one very special young lady. To cut a long story short, I found her aged 6 weeks dumped in my garden, and had to hand-rear her. Then when she was just 10 months old she was run over and almost lost her back leg  In fact the leg you can see in the forefront of that pic, has been completely rebuilt with something like 3 months in Hospital, and countless skin grafts. She has been the star of many Vets magazines here and is on a training video they use because of all the new methods they used to treat her.

She is so beautiful, Etern! :inlove: :worship:

She looks so calm and poised in a beautiful setting in that picture; sending her poised cat power to Robin tonight...the cats in the Sweden Forum again sending their amazing speed, strength, agility, focus, calm and warm fuzzy coats (in case he gets cold in air conditioned arena) to Robin for victory tonight. :)

Sadly it didn't heöp today :(. I so wanted Robin to win, the extra 200 points would have been great for next year. But he did win the group so tomorrow I hope that he will destroy Del Potro :)

And of course, like every cat owner I love it when people compliment my cat, so thank you :)

Wow! What a story for Lijana! She is a warrior without question. I was impressed by the look of "cat peace" on her face. :inlove:

Kolya wins 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.

I'm sorry about Nole, Rose. :sobbing: But you we're saying that he doesn't need to play Fed when he is this exhausted.

I guess from a glass is half-full perspective, Robin now gets to play tomorrow night against Del Pony and wins Group A based on sets won. It's hard to feel fired up about it though. He played a solid match. Kolya has been on fire lately, as I'm sure Rafa and Nole can affirm.

I am afraid of Del Potro, really. It will be very uncomfortable to Robin to play with him... I know, I have to be glad for semi and wins over 2 and 3 in world... But...

Glad you like sweet Lily - she is definately one special lady. And she always makes me laugh, because she's the only female, yet totally bosses the other four male cats around even though they are all far bigger than her. And whereas the boys are very much attached to me, she is way more attached to my partner, and he is totally besotted by her and spoils her rotten.

As for Nole - thanks - but I'm honestly OK with it. He's had a great end to his year, and finished 2009 off with a win. He is very tired now - he needs rest and look forward to 2010.

And for Robin - I wish him all the luck in the world tomorrow.

But now it's way past my bedtime - so goodnight :wavey:

Good luck to Robin. Del Mugro is one-dimensional and bad for the sport. I hope that Robin completely obliterates him.

I'll just throw this out there for what it is worth:

I have a much better feeling about this match than I had with the Kolya match going into it. In the Kolya match, Robin only needed to win a set to get the evening match, which he clearly was focused on doing in the first two sets, whereas Kolya was fighting for his life as he HAD to win the match to stay alive in the tournament. These factors made me nervous about it; in addition to the fact that a highly motivated Kolya is extremely tough (see last two matches they've played).

I think Robin goes into tonight's match with the fiercer intensity than Del Pony. Robin just barely lost and wants to win badly, he is hungrier, and Del Pony has more of a reason to feel satisfied with where he is at after beating Fed once again. If Robin goes down tonight, at least you know he will throw everything he has at Del Pony for the victory. The two have only met twice (1-1 H2H), and Del Pony has never faced an in form Soderking.

I have a good feeling about this one. I'm glad he gets the extra rest too. :yeah:

You read my mind. :) Notice how he changed his mind with the white halfway through the match with Kolya and went back to black. It seemed to help for a bit.

No problem at all, Rose. Actually, thanks! It hit me that cat vs. pony was a strange match-up of energies and that was a Do-It-Myself. I had a bad feeling I was the only one that liked it. :o

It was a bummer, especially losing that first set in a tiebreaker. Kolya was fighting for what might have been his last match of the year though, so the strong performance by Robin, considering he wasn't doing the same, may mean more than we think. Tonight, Robin plays knowing it may be his last match of the year. I feel better about that scenario. These RR things suck! I wish they would change the format into a top 16 ranked players in a normal draw format or something like that.

I absolutely agree, it's important to have a few threads with a clear subject (and of course a few threads now and then with something special). Otherwise it will be impossible for most users to follow.

Agreed! Let's start slowly and have a serious thread with news and talk of matches, schedules, etc.. We can have a chat thread for matches and chit-chat and the two won't cross. Of course a photo thread would be really cool...:)

I agree with the idea of not having too many threads. I see a "Schedule" thread has already been started, - but I would say to start we only need one for News, one for Photos, and see how things go. I have not been coming here very long though, so will leave it all up to the long-standing members and go with the majority verdict.

 I think your Introduction thread is great Dana  We have one on Novak's Forum. It's a great way for people to get to know each other and make initial introduction posts. Sometimes it is quite hard to start posting in a new Forum for the first time, so it's a good way to break the ice.

does this one need a new title maybe? Or shall I merge the new cheering thread into here and keep the title of that thread?

Remember, threads can go to 5000 posts, then need to be closed by one of the supermods/admins and then part 2 can be started ;)

Hmmm... this already is like a cheering thread. I started a cheering thread for the London WTFs, as they have in the Nole Forum, but maybe this would be a better place and I would personally like "Soderking Chat and Cheering" or something other than "soderling" which is kind of non-descriptive and dull.

I posted a bunch of photos from Robin's match against Davydenko last night for the London WTF thread, so I can change that title to the Photo thread.

How does that sound?

Sounds fine to me Tim. As for the cheering threads - well some Forums (like Nole's) have a separate cheering thread for each tournament. Others just have one thread and simply change the title for each tournament. Unless you have huge traffic in a Forum, a separate thread for each week can be come a little cluttered and cumbersome in my opinion. but if you only have one, then the thread starter has to be available to change the title for each tournament. So it depends what everyone here wants

This sounds like the right idea, Rose. The only problem is the original thread starter hasn't posted since 2005. If one of us could change the title per tournament (or Carlita if she has the time), that would make the most sense because the fan base is just building. Maybe change the thread for now to "Soderking Takes London: Chat and Cheering thread" just for now and then change it when Chennai rolls around on January 4th?

I follow Robin on twitter and his tweets for"congrats" on victories we're routinely around 5-10. However, after his victory over Rafa and Nole this week, his "Congrats" we're in the hundreds....amazing! And as we saw this week, people are starting to post blogs and upload tribute videos to Robin on YouTube. But right now, the core fan base is still growing and the bandwagon has plenty of room. :D

Thanks, SweTennis. I think "Soderking Takes London: Chat and Cheering Thread" is pretty simple and direct for the last two days of the tourney. He has already been the major surprise of the tournament knocking out the #2 and #3 seeds in straight sets in consecutive matches. I'm open to any ideas, and I would be happy to PM Carlita with our decision if that sounds ok to everyone. :yeah:

For CloudyGirl's thead on his 2010 schedule, does anyone have any inside information other than him playing Chennai and the AO? I've looked all over the place and am not finding anything. Other fans of players, like Nole and Rafa fans, get the schedules from the official site organizers but there there is no official Soderling web site although I've heard plans are being made to release one soon.

OMG!!! I've been so consumed in this and have had so little faith in Kolya beating Fed, that I just noticed Kolya defeated Fed in three sets for the first time! So if Robin could just take out Del Pony tonight and get a rematch with Kolya (he is still 6-4 and 3-2 for this year), that would be sweet!!!

What a shock! Kolya's 12 match losing streak to Fed comes to an end!! :worship::worship: And on a day when the putrid organizers only gave him 14 hours to recuperate too! So Robin would not have to play a super rested Fed on Sunday. Kolya has to be pretty tired too.

Well, i'm actually quite worried for tonights match since i fear DelPos power, i really really hope that Söderling has the strength to fight through this but i'm very doubtful :/ such a shame that Murray didn't get thourgh since i fancy Robins chances alot higher against him rather than DelPo. But you can't change anything so i have to hope that Söderling comes out guns blazing and get to this final now! :)
