Gaudio vs Verdasco in Kitzbühel final ?

So who will win the final in the mountains of Austria? It'll be best of 5 as long as it doesn't have danger of huge rain delays.

Gaudio will. The clay court game is becoming so boring and predictable with the same two players winning every tournament they enter, so I hope Verdasco wins this one.

Gaston in straight sets ;)

Yes, it's so predictable, even worse than grass.

I think Gaston in straight sets. But hey, I'm good tonight so maybe in 4, just leave 1 set to Nando! ;)

With all these people thinking Gaudio is going to win in straight sets, the likelihood of it happening remains even less so.

Gaudio in 3.. unless Verdasco doesn't choke himself to death.

In theory Gaudio should be too consistent for Verdasco over five sets, but you never know with these two; they may have completely different games, but neither is renowned as a pillar of mental stability. Verdasco can only do better than he did in last year's semis, that's for sure. I do hope Gaudio takes the title after reaching the final for a second straight year, it would be another feather in his claycourt cap. I remember his good showings in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel back in 2002, reaching the final and semi-final respectively and getting drubbed by Corretja both times; in the latter match he kept trying these feeble dropshots in the second set that went straight into the net, but those were the last glory days of Corretja.

Verdasco won't be as bad as he was in that semi in 04. The thing is with Verdasco he is just as liable to blast a set of unbelievable winners and I think he will get a set.

I was there live in 2002 and Corretja always knew how to play Gaudio and that was hard watching that match, but Gaudio likes the altitude and his name would look good there along with names such as Corretja, Costa, Berasategui, Muster and even Dewulf.

I find it funny looking at their head-to-head that the one time Gaudio won, he came back from a 6-0 set down in Barcelona, but then Corretja always tended to underperform in his home town.

Dewulf may have been Belgian but something about Austria agreed with him, didn't it?

Even in practice sets Corretja would beat him, though Alex was always helpful to Gaston though.

Verdasco does have some serious weapons though the battle of mental strength between these two will be fascinating.

Dewulf loved playing in Austria.

Yeah right, like there are about 3 players capable of winning Wimbledon and that has been consistent for a very long time.

Like this is a common and overriding thing in claycourt tennis and no 1 year is not a true indicative of this.

The best I have ever seen Gaudio play in a final was in Barcelona 02 when he made chorizo out of Costa, but I don't think he is at that level, but should get home here, if it gets to a 5th, the fun will be really happening.

ts a pity he does not have a mind enough to sustain that level of play.
if he could do that then he should be in the same league as nadal and Coria even better!!!

It's not an issue of talent, there aren't that many people who are that talented, yet lack that much self belief.

At the same time I am happy with Verdasco's performance this week, but I just want Gaston to win the title.

I hope Gaudio will win, maybe in 4 sets, but I have nothing against Verdasco, I saw both players play LIVE this week in Kitz, and both were interesting to watch, but I know Gaudio better.

Buena suerte to both

but Nando is young and looks pretty fresh tho when he left the last match, and Nando was hitting darn hard winners from all over the court against Massu! If he can retain those hits, he might has a chance!
