Thanks for posting!

Looks like I might actually have good reason to watch some of the qualifier matches this year. *cross fingers*

Any word on who might get WC's for qualies? Perhaps a few Americans who need a little help... whose first name begins with a J...

The tournament also announced the names of the players who've been awarded the four wild cards into the qualifier: Americans Jeff Morrison, Jan-Michael Gambill and Brian Baker, and rising British star Andy Murray.

"Considering the depth and talent of the current field, this is one of the best qualifying draws we have ever seen in Cincinnati," said tournament director Bruce Flory.

:worship: Mr. Flory. Makes me proud to say I'm from Cincy.

Though I would have rather given Bobby Reynolds a WC over Morrison, who's had a pitiful summer IMHO.

I'm happy to see Andy Murray in there, though. Looking forward to seeing him in action.

Andy Murray is sure leveraging his Wimbledon performance...I've got to give him credit. If the kid is lucky and he does something with these wildcards, he might never need to go through the Challenger circuit.

He's already playing the Challenger circuit. 3 in the last few weeks.

I think not playing the Challenger circuit is a disadvantage to a player, because he misses a big part of what shapes him as a player. I think toughness is created on the Future and Challenger level. Only the real tough players make it through - it sets players apart.

But Murray is playing there, so I guess he still benefits from that.

I know, but my point is that he has received a fair number of wildcards and he is not bumping along from challenger to challenger each week.

yeah i am here don't worry, so i see another WC why does that not suprise me! he is what you call a scrounger a sponger even, he even takes over Monilfs' record. In fact i support Monfils now. I still look forward to the day when Nole kicks Murray's ass. In fact how nice would it be if it happens in qualifying.
PS as far as i can see Novak made the qualifying entry list straight, not a bad achievment for someone u reckon is rubbish

Dragan
08-05-2005, 07:27 PM
that was a bit of a shabby comeback! come on u can do better than that, Monfils is king, Murray can kiss his ass, the only reason why Monfils did not win the US Open was because he was injured.....

Must you two have your asinine Novak-Monfils-Murray fights in EVERY thread I read? They are absolutely mind bogglingly stupid. Like, have you bothered to read over them?

Ah ha! So Novak is entered in the qualifying here :) That explains why he is still in Montreal practicing. He's looked pretty good in practice... hopefully he'll get a good qualifying draw.

Mathieu gets a Special Exemption (SE) for winning his QF match in Montreal which means G. Lapentti should now be in.

BTW Who's getting the WC that is freed up by Murray getting a main draw one?
