I hope he will be in Sopot during weekend. Sopot is hot place :o like Monte Carlo or Las Vegas - party all the time - beach, disco, casino.

I will write everything day by day here. I hope to get some photoes from his trening.

Wojtek
07-30-2005, 05:51 PM
Draw was made close to the beach in Sopot. Portas and Acauso were there too. People went to the chair and they were making a draw. After they drew Kubot i knew next can be Guga because poeple chose first number from the table. After Kubot girl chose guga's number. :mad  Number weren't mixed well. So number 9 Jarkko gor Puerta, Kubot and Guga were chosen after each other. The same Vanek, Di Mauro, Chadaj and Koubek, Starace they numbers form 17 to 22 or something like this. It sucks :(

Wojtek

I didn't see Gustavo today. Tomorrow i won't go because i have tickets from Mon to Thu and Guga will play on Wedensday if Coria wins Umag.

you can't help it your faves sometimes have to play each other. Usually I would be 50-50 then, but coz Guga needs a victory a lot more I will cheer for him!

Hi all :)

I saw today Guga. He has been on the court from 6 pm to 7 pm. He was playing really well. He was hitting for 10 minutes beckhand and forehand then he was hitting for 20 minutes forehand cross court shots- he did it very, very well. Then his coach or sparing partner hits drop shos after two, three shots from Guga and Guga wasn't too fast but wasn't too slow :p After that he hit few serves and returns - great returns :worship:

His trening was watching by a lot of people. I took few shots. After the trening everyone went to the court for photo with him and he hadn't too much time for us :o so i don't have photo with him   Maybe next time

Wojtek
08-01-2005, 10:02 PM
BTW Guga has the best court for trening  He is bigger star than Peurta here. Maybe the same level like Coria. Everyone is talking about Guga vs. Coria. There is huge article in the biggest polish newspaper about Guga. No words about Puerta, Moya or Gaudio

Guga played really well and he had special court for practise . On the other courts Nieminen practise with Almagro and i have to say they played amazing and it was only practise. They were two or three times faster then Guga

Asshole Gaudio withdraw but too late  So Coria is still number 3 and Jarkko has to played against number 1

I just hope Guga will play his game and fight until the end against Coria:) His game is there, so there's always hope! I'm sure Guga sees this match as a very big challenge and I'm pretty sure in the back of his mind he wants to see where his level is at the moment! GO GUGZ:banana:!!!

Hi all

I saw today all matches.

Guga played really well in the games that he won :p I think he would beat few players in Sopot but Coria played good. Nothing special but good enough to beat Guga. The biggest diffrence was in the movement. guga was hitting few great shots but everything came back and then ue

He has neck injury or something like this. He coudn't move head. Yeasterday during practise he had the problem so i hope he won't withdraw from doubles.

Next thing i can't remember when center court was so full in Sopot. It was more then full :o People cheered for Guga and screamed :Guga, come on Guga

Thanks for your reports, Wojtek. It´s always nice to hear Guga is still so popular everywhere. How was Guga´s serve and did the injury affect it?
The injury seems to be sort of the same neck problem he already had in Stuttgart  I hope it gets better in the next weeks.

Billabong
08-02-2005, 10:23 PM
Yes, there's an article in UOL Tenisbrasil, and Guga says he has a "torticolis" (I don't know what it is in English). He's not worried, he'll go and check with the doctor because it's the second time he feels this in 3 weeks (Stuttgart)... He's happy to have played a solid first set, but then his neck was bothering him in the second... So apparently there's no need to worry, he's next scheduled to Long Island, just before the US Open! GOOOOOOO GUGAAAAAAAA:banana:!!!!!!

BTW I think Guga should play quallies, he really needs some match play and some ranking points. His ranking is now at 288th I think, and it will go even worse after Toronto and Cincinnati... But first of all, he has to heal his neck;)!

I think Guga would beat few guys here in Sopot. Maybe even Moya because he played good today.

Toronto points are out this week, Cincinatti next week. Did he win a match last year there?

He will be forced to play quallies (or challengers) soon, because he has only a few tournaments left where he can use his injury ranking. And I think it would be better this way. In his situation he will be going nowhere on the atp-tour

Guga´s comments from the tournaments website:

Gustavo Kuerten
Tuesday, 2 August 2005
9:00 pm
Gustavo Kuerten was unable to finish his match against Guillermo Coria. He retired in the second set due to a neck injury. "Guga" has been struggling with pain in his neck for two days prior to his coming to Poland.

"It was like a break. I tried to come back. I did everything I could to serve well, get the balls back and play from the baseline. It wasn't enough. The pain was getting worse and finally I just couldn't play" - said the Brazilian during the press conference after the match.

Kuerten hopes to utilize this year to regain his health.

"I will use this year to practice and train. I believe, that next year I will be able to make it back to the top and waiting a few months longer does not bother me at all" - stated the likable player.

When asked to the tournament's winner Gustavo replied: "In my opinion Coria and Moya are the favorites here."
