Excellent result Jiri, and convincing too (although hardly surprising, the last time he played Robredo in Madrid last year he wiped the floor with him 6-1, 6-1). Now I can hope for another Federer-Novak final, though Roger has to fulfil his side of the bargain against Ljubicic, and if Novak were to win.... well I wouldn't be too disappointed, as a Top 10 player it's about time he got another title.

Hi Mrs. B! :bounce:

Sjengster

I suspect Roger has raised his level, that's all - when they played last year in Cincinnati, he won the first set 6-2 and had a setpoint earlier to take it 6-1 with a triple break on Ljubicic's serve; but of course, his lack of confidence eventually lost him the match.

This time Roger, serve it out on the next game - you can't afford to let the score get tight in this set!

R. Federer def. I. Ljubicic 6-3, 6-2

Thank you, Roger - and you did serve it out on the first attempt! Now for another final with Novak... as I said before, I wouldn't mind if Novak got another title after two years without one, but I'll still be rooting for Federer to make it two this year!

Lily

This was bad match of the year from Ivan:(
pfffff

Sjengster
03-01-2003, 05:18 PM
I think you're being a little bit harsh on Ljubicic - bad match of the year? What about his first round at the AO against that well-known tennis giant Vadim Kutsenko, where he came back from two sets to love down only to lose the decider? Mind you, five-set Grand Slam matches have never been kind to poor old Ivan, even less so at the Australian Open; I should think he'll be haunted by last year's debacle against Ferreira for the rest of time, it was a golden opportunity to make the fourth round of a Slam for the first time.
